For the PC-enthusiast who wants a desktop that looks sizzling hot, yet stays cool, check out the Zalman CNPS10X Quiet CPU Cooler featuring a fan and heatsink! This hi-tech cooling device lends an edgy, industrial look to your PC with its unique blue anodized fins.
The copper heatsink saves space with an architecturally sound 5-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the adjustable fan’s 120mm blades and 2 ball bearings. A FAN MATE 2 controller and cable are included with your durable Zalman CPU Cooler, allowing you to switch in various fan-speed modes.
Compatible with both Intel LGA 1366, 1156, 775 and AMD socket AM3, AM2+, AM2, 939, 754 platforms, the Zalman CNPS10X Quiet works flawlessly with most late model CPUs, including Intel Core i7 and AMD Phenom II. For ultra-cool protection and aggressive styling, the Zalman CPU Cooler is the way to go.
Pros: This is a great cooler. It is huge but fit in my Antec 900 case. It came with all the adapters for LGA1366/1156/775/AMD, eventhough newegg spec didn't list LGA1156's compatibility. Also came with a full tube of very high quality thermal paste. Super easy to install, but make sure you don't lose the small clear plastic washers when you dump the contents out of the little baggie. I almost didn't see them (they go in the back between the nut and mobo). I haven't hooked up the fanmate2 so I don't know how it performs. Bios showed my i7 860 idles at 24C. It is also very quite. Love the look of the fan and heatsink. Zalman did a nice job with the tower design (I never really liked the old style).
Cons: I'd really like to see a nice soft blue led on the fan but it's not really a con.
Other Thoughts: Get this cooler, works great !

Extremely Quiet, Barely audible

Pros: Quiet--quieter than CNPS9700 NT Not too heavy LGA 1156 Bracket is excellent New thermal paste is great Keeps my i5 750 (@3.2Ghz) 28-33 C idle, 49-53 load (prime95)
Cons: Expensive Zalman sticker is the same Probably no good for extreme overclockers No LED color Blocks out the first RAM slot (Ripjaws)
Other Thoughts: This cooler is deadly silent. I can barely hear this over my 3 Antec Tricool fans on low speed (rated at 25db). It fits Antec P180 mid tower with flying colors. I hooked up with Fanmate 2 controller, but it's useless because even at full speed, this fan is so silent. Beware, on Gigabyte P55-UD3R board, the first RAM slot will be unusable with RAMs that have semi decent heatsinks, such as G.Skill Ripjaws.

Pros: Easy to install, just take your time, look at the video, and make a few dry runs installing it. But basically, it's quite easy.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I've used a number of zalmans over the years and by and large been very pleased with the very high quality. For my lynfield p55 mobo, this hsf fit perfectly, it was carefully thought out and engineered well.

Large and in charge

Pros: Very, very quiet. Does a great job cooling. Team up with a quiet PSU and the computer noise is a non-factor.
Cons: As some people stated, why does it have to be this large. I have a Lian Li case with the removable motherboard tray. I didn't even think of the height when on the MB when I went to slide it back into the case. It wouldn't fit under the rail! Had to take it apart, slide in the MB tray and then re-attach the cooler.
Other Thoughts: Tried to install on a Biostar 790GX board. Couldn't use the first memory slot as others have stated. Not without modding the fins of the cooler. Beware of RAM that has cooling fins on them also because they will increase the chance it will ride up into the cooling fins.

On Gigabyte P55-UD4P
Reviewed By: dbguy on 1/18/2010

Pros: Heavyweight cooling. Very quiet fan. Keeps i7-860 on Gigabyte P55-UD4P (older ver. 1.0, not P55A, but same socket/modules layout) idle at 43 degrees Celsius, according to SiSoft Sandra. No height clearance problem in Antec Solo case.
Cons: With 4 modules of Mushkin Redline memory that has a clip-over spreader rising 1/4" above PCB, the black fan had to be shifted upwards about 3/16" against the fins block (the limit allowed by the retention clips) to just barely clear the nearest memory module, fan pointing "down" toward the video cards. Would not have been a problem at all with Crucial Ballistics modules.
Other Thoughts: The retaining lips of the metal plate on top the motherboard that actually engage two sides of the fan base do not extend the entire length of the fan base side -- and the unit is quite heavy. I mounted the unit so the retaining lips are up/down as the unit is oriented in the upright case, rather than side/side, fearing that otherwise the moment of sheer weight might bend the top edge of the copper base slightly away from the CPU spreader.
