5 out of 5 eggsNewegg: Delete Prior Review

Pros: NEWEGG: I believe I submitted the wrong review for this thermal grease. I actually reviewed a fan controller but submitted it under this thermal grease product.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not Great

Pros: Sets a variable speed. Though it works at initial setting, I frequently found the fan at a stand-still and not turning at all. I removed this control and used a Molex connector on the fan and now the fan operates just fine. Though I don't use this control at all any more, I'm only knocking off 1-egg because I don't fully understand why the fan has stoppage when using this control.

Cons: Causes fan stoppage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat thermal Grease

Pros: Great performance for price
Easy to spread
No cure time

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I chose this after viewing a comparison list of thermal greases. This particular one sat up with a bunch of far more expensive greases in the review's "A- to A+" grading scale.

I had been using arctic silver for the longest time until I ran out. I figured I should upgrade to something that performs a bit better and I am not disappointed. I used this with an ENERMAX ETS-T40-W White 120mm Cluster CPU Cooler and am very happy with both products performance.

I then replaced the stock thermal paste on a Hyper 212 evo installed that in a friends computer and saw a significant drop in temps compared to stock thermal paste. As long as the price remains reasonable, I can foresee myself using this for a long time to come.

5 out of 5 eggsI don't want to try anything else!

Pros: Excellent cooling
No burn in required, works right away.
Easy to clean off.

Cons: Price, but its well worth it.
You don't get as much for the money as compared to the 25G tube of Céramique 2, and it was really tempting to get the Céramique 2, but I just don't believe it will perform quite as well. If I ever start doing computer builds for others I would use the Céramique 2 because of the huge quantity, but not for personal use.

Other Thoughts: I just ordered my second tube of this stuff because last one worked so well!
I have used this on a Celeron G530, Intel i3-3225, Intel Penitum III 1GHz, AMD Sempron 3300+, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, AMD Athlon 2600+, AMD a10-58009k APU, Nvidia Geforce 430 GT, Nvidia Geforce 650 GTX, ATI Radeon x800pro, AMD Radeon HD 7850.
Those are just the items I can remember off the top of my head, I know I have used it on more, but over the past few months I have forgot. Also the i3-3225 has had it applied more than once.

It took the Celeron G530 from 80-95 degrees Celsius using an aftermarket cooler and the thermal paste that came with the cooler, down to usually 32 degrees idle with the stock cooler, and the fan turned down.. The i3 usually sits anywhere between 28-32 degrees at idle using the aftermarket cooler, and the fan is set to the lowest speed. When it heats up, it can run all the way to 50 degrees Celsius, but the fan doesn't start to run faster until 45 degrees. After that point the fan spins up, cools it down to 45 and mixes between gearing up and down as the system runs. If I turned it on full it would probably never get past 40!

For those who find clumps in the paste like I did, the stuff seems to harden a little bit in the tube. Don't worry about it, just take the bit of a credit card or whatever you are using to spread the paste with and lightly press on the clumps while spreading. They will completely break down and mix with the rest of the paste. Get a very thin coating and you are set!

This works so well, I don't honestly want to try using anything else for personal use. No wonder its the official thermal paste of Tom's Hardware.

2 out of 5 eggsI'll pass...

Pros: It was free with the 9900 DF.

Cons: Horrible consistency. it was very chunky coming out of the tube and there were several 'dry' parts to it. It's almost like it dried inside the (sealed) tube. I was unable to properly squeeze out a large enough dab, so I tried spreading it around, but it just broke apart. I love Zalman products, but I'm very glad this was a freebie and I didn't spend money on it.

Other Thoughts: Ended up using Arctic Silver I had from my last build. Problem solved;)

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Thermal Grease!

Pros: Non-conductive and easy to apply. Gives great thermal transfer properties from day one-no curing necessary.

Cons: Can be a little thick sometimes.

Other Thoughts: I love this stuff! I used AS-5 for years, and then Xigmatek. It now goes in all my builds!

5 out of 5 eggsSome really awesome goop

Pros: Really good thermals and it has a thick consistency. I hate runny TIM as it can make a mess of everything.

Priced very decently too.

Cons: Maybe it's because I received it as a freebie with a zalman heatsink, but I peeled off the label to find the tube was only a third full. Can't complain, it was free.

Other Thoughts: Using it with a Zalman CNPS 9900NT.

At stock, my x4 965 BE idles at 25C and under prime95 maxes out at 45C. I OC'd it to 4ghz and now it idles at 27C with prime95 maxing out at 57C.

4 out of 5 eggsHard to judge

Pros: Cools the CPU very well. Eventually spreads well, but you have to work with it.

Cons: While removing it parts of it came out chunky and hard. There was absolutely no consistency with this in my opinion. The first bit was a pretty good consistency and spread well, then a harder bit which cracked and did not spread well at all, then more which spread fine, then more which cracked, then more which is fine. While the rest I think is fine now, this all happened while trying to cover one processor.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could say more about its effectiveness as a cooling paste, but I cannot. I upgraded my PC from a Celeron G530 with a cheap water cooling fan from Roswell and some really terrible thermal paste. My CPU on average was doing 90 C at idle, often after first turning the computer on it would jump up to this. I only ever saw it report lower than this at 70 C at start up, and at load I don't know what it was at, but at one point doing some video converting shut down my pc from overheating.

Now I have the same aftermarket fan and heat sync, Intel i3-3225, so its an Ivy Bridge doing a lot more and should really run hotter. Normally with this paste it idles at 38 C. At load doing video converting for hours it never gets passed 49 C, it usually doesn't even get that high. This is with my fan speeds turned down to avoid loud noise, they don't turn up until it hits 45 C so my idle could probably really be lower. So judge it as you think.
