Zalman bills itself as the "quiet cooling solution" and they have a reputation for easy to use, reliable products. They also have a reputation for creating products that look as good as they run. A quiet, downward blowing 80mm dual ball bearing fan sits at the heart of an array of pure aluminum thin fins.

While it operates at a low 28.5 dBA in its normal 2,650 RPM setting, its Silent Mode drops it to 18.5 dBA as well as eliminating vibration. With its unrestricted flow, it cools not only the VGA chipset and RAM, but the other VGA components. And the newly improved installation structure provides easy installation and broad compatibility.

  • newegg Ultra Quiet Design The exclusive VFHS (Variable Flower Heatsink) technology is incorporated for enhanced air flow structure and the optimized heatsink provides high performance cooling in Quiet Mode.
  • newegg Powerful Cooling Performance The 0.4mm pure aluminum fins with maximized dissipation area and the fan embedded inside the heatsink optimize cooling performance.
  • newegg Excellent Peripheral Component Cooling The 80mm fan cools not only the heatsink and VGA RAM, but all other peripheral components surrounding the VGA chipset.
  • newegg Fan Speed Control The included Fan Speed Control Connector enables users to select fan speed for their needs
  • newegg Excellent Compatibility The cooler’s optimized installation structure allows easy installation and excellent VGA card compatibility.
  • newegg Environment Friendly Design Only environment friendly materials are utilized for compliance with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standard of the European Union.

5 out of 5 eggsZalman: the Standard

Pros: Quiet, pretty, efficient.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: From the people who invented the "flower" style heatsinks... still the best. Got this running on a cheap ATI card, works perfectly, doesn't interfere with anything. Quiet, efficient, etc.

3 out of 5 eggsUseless Junk

Pros: Installs easy

Cons: Does cool any better then the factory fan that came with either card I tried it on, and its loud. When I use the factory fan on my ATI Radeon HD 4650 the card runs much better & doesn't restart my pc or blue screen on me every 5-10mins, and same for the GT 240 card I tried it on.

Other Thoughts: I always wanted to try this brand of fans/heat sinks so I gave it a shot. To say the least I am not impressed & will never buy or suggest this brand to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsIts Ok

Pros: - Easy to install
- Included Heat Sinks for Memory Modules
- Price

Cons: - Doesn't make much difference then the default heat sink & fan provided by my card
- A bit bulky
- Runs a bit loud

Other Thoughts: I have always wanted to buy one of these just to see how good they were as I have never used one until I bought this one last month. I had originally bought this fan for an GT 420 which I bought from Geeks but it kept restarting my PC because its cheap fan didn't cool good enough to even watch NetFlix online so I bought this fan. I am guessing that card was just bad & Geeks refused to replace it so I will never buy from them again! Now I am using it on my ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card & it does no were near as well cooling as the **** looking factory default heat sink & fan I had on it before which I will be putting back on my card. This fin will most likely be going in the trash. Live & learn just because something looks nice doesn't mean it will do what you need it to. I will never buy this brand again!

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to Install

Pros: Fairly easy to install. Mem chip heat sinks have tape backing for ease of installation. The Zalman VGA Cooler fits on a Radeon HD6850 but dont over-clock it with the Zalman cooler. Its only rated to the HD6600 series. It is quiet.

Cons: Only has a 3-prong fan power connector, HD6850 uses a PWR management 4-prong power connector - so I used a board controlled fan header. Zalman only packed 3 springs rather than 4, but maybe I lost one. I used my stock cooler springs instead.

Other Thoughts: The cooler has no heat pipes. The new cooler worked OK with factory stock timing settings - but card failed with overclocked settings using the Windows Performance Test as the check method. For stock settings, the Zalman ran 3 degrees warmer than Radeon stock cooler. What I really need is just a fan to fit on my stock cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy

Pros: Does what its supposed to.
Keeps temps low.

Cons: Ball-Bearing fan (not expecting that to last forever)
Terrible thermal compound provided.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace the failed fan on my HD4650. After installation, I ran furmark to test out the temps. I plugged in the fan to the black end (performance) of the adapter. Runs at 39C max all day. I did use a different thermal compound though. The stuff provided was horrible.

4 out of 5 eggsGets the Job Done

Pros: Really does what it's designed for. I do wish it did a little more than my stock cooler but for the most part if you need a good cheap and effective VGA Cooler I highly recommend a Zalman

Cons: It didn't do much better than my stock vga cooler but I'm guessing the thermal paste needs time to cure before it becomes better. I do wish the fans had a higher RPM cap because the performance option isn't that much better than the quiet mode.

Other Thoughts: If your fan gives out but you managed to save your GPU this is the VGA Cooler to get. Effective and cheap it gets the job done but it could use more variance on fan speeds. An adjustable fan control system outside of the jumpers would be a lot more streamlined and useful.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Really does its job well and easy to install. Seems to have a better top end temperature cap than my Radeon 6850 HD's stock cooler better. I'm guessing once the thermal paste has cured I should get better results.

Cons: It doesn't change the temperatures much I'm afraid and the fins are little delicate. Recommend using surgical gloves to install.

Other Thoughts: This was just a temporary solution at best (current stock cooler was starting to fail). Planning to purchase either a GeForce 660ti or Radeon 7950 384bit to retire my poor old 6850.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: -Easy Install
-Great Looks
-Works Great
-Good Price
-Very Quiet

Cons: None to speak of as of yet. I've had it for over a month and it's keeping my system cool and happy.

Other Thoughts: You'd have to have a pretty serious card to need much more than this.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Pros: Very Quiet, Looks Great. I put this on a little evga nvidia gt 430, which is an awesome card to begin with, because the stock fan was louder than i like. not only is this quieter but it makes the graphics card almost the center of attention inside the case. Even at full speed its quiet.

Cons: It says it's a 4 pin, the one i received is only a 3 pin. no big deal because it's quiet enough at full speed and it's been connected to a fan controller anyway

Other Thoughts: I'm really not concerned about temps, i'm only running linux mint. The build was for show only and this makes an excellent presentation.
