The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-B combines some of the most advanced technologies in the market used for CPU coolers to create powerful cooling performance. The CPU cooler utilizes composite heatpipe which is 50% more effective in transferring heat compared to ordinary heatpipes. Combined with a whisper-quiet 135 mm blue LED PWM fan positioned between two massive nickel plated pure copper heatsinks, the CNPS9900 MAX-B is more than enough to satisfy overclockers and users who are looking for ultra powerful cooling performance in silent operation.

  • newegg Powerful Cooling Performance [Qmax: 300W] Optimally designed pure copper fins effectively disperse heat away from the CPU via composite heatpipes, while the high capacity 135mm fan quickly cools the heatsink for stable operation of high performance CPUs.
  • newegg Ultra Quiet 135mm Blue/Red LED Fan An ultra quiet 135mm fan is incorporated for minimized noise while the blue LEDs heighten the cool aesthetics.
  • newegg Black-Pearl Nickel Plating The entire copper heatsink of CNPS9900 MAX-B is ‘Black-Pearl’ Nickel Plated for long-term corrosion resistance, while the deep ‘Black-Pearl’ tone along with the high intensity blue LEDs reinforce its powerful aesthetics.
  • newegg PWM Fan Speed Control The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan automatically adjusts fan speed according to the CPU’s temperature, while the included Resistor Cable (RC7P) provides the option of reducing the input voltage for overall reduction of fan speed and noise.
  • newegg High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2 The included all new high performance thermal grease ZM-STG2 maximizes heat transfer from the CPU to the base of CPU cooler for intensified cooling performance.
  • newegg Versatile Compatibility The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-B accommodates a broad range of CPU sockets including Intel LGA1156 / 1366 / 775 and AMD AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Quieter than most coolers I've used
- High quality
- 135mm fan
- Good airflow
- Does not block memory slots

Cons: - Very hard to install
- Had to take out the motherboard to install
- Kind of heavy

Other Thoughts: CPU temp is about 48F idle, 105F max while gaming.

It says it's for AM3+, but the AMD clips provided do not angle down like the pictures show in the instructions. I was able to install it by using the stock back plate and longer screws that would reach from the clips to the back plate.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks great but...

Pros: -Looks awesome
-Cools well enough
-Not hard to install, just takes a little extra time

Cons: Fan wobbled back and forth so much I was concerned about the longevity of the whole thing. I really wanted to keep this heatsink for the looks, but performance and integrity cannot be sacrificed.

Other Thoughts: Graphics Card - Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB VRAM
Processor - Intel Core i5-4690K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz
Memory - 16GB DDR3 Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile
SSD - 512GB Crucial MX100

4 out of 5 eggsinstructions are useless...

Pros: very effective fan. does a great job at cooling my i7 2600k.

Cons: the instructions were useless, and it took me a couple of tries to mount this. it fit snugly into the holes on my mobo. I had to mount it upside down, with my bare motherboard on a desk in order to mount this right. then I had to use some scotch tape to keep the fan from moving. major design flaw, otherwise, very effective.

4 out of 5 eggsGeat fan..but..

Pros: Great fan ,this is my second one after the first one i used for 5 years on my 1366 mb. Keeps my new Proc nice and cool.

Cons: Can we not design a way to install this fan any harder Zalman?? fut the wuck..This fan is a total pain to install, all the other reviews on spot on, it took me over an hour to put it together, i egg deducted for the terrible mounting design.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have patients and time in your day before you attempt to install this fan.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this CPU Cooler

Pros: The fan does a great job keeping the CPU cool.

Cons: Due to the horrible instructions I put the fan in the wrong way and was circulating the hot air inside my case. The screws are almost impossible to tighten with the board installed. The wrench they supplied was junk and started to strip the ball end you have to use to tighten at the extreme angle. I took the fan back off to reverse it and it bent the pins on my board due to the weight or just the design of this heatsink. It is not worth all the problems with this fan. So now I have a 60 dollar paperweight and I have to buy a new board with the hopes that my i7 processor is still working.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Quiet. Keeps my CPU cooler than a H60 water cooler. Can almost use this without the fan, just as a passive cooler.

Cons: Needs stand-offs to screw into the backplate, then screw the heatsink down to the stand-offs. It's rather difficult to have to hold the back plate on while you try to screw the heat sink on without being able to hold the heat sink, because you don't have 3 hands. The double sided tape helped...the first time. But I had to RMA my mobo and the tape was useless after I had to pull off the backplate. Besides, seriously, TAPE?! The best thing the designers could come up with...was tape?!

Other Thoughts: Great for an air cooler! -1 egg for the obvious design flaw. Once again...TAPE?! SERIOUSLY?!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works really well on an i7 4770. Keeps temps nice and cool. Hopefully the one you purchase will have fan bearings that last longer than mine. Mine makes noise now after a year.

Cons: It really has worked great. I just expected it to last longer than it has. After a year of owning it the fan has started to make a noise. I assume it's a bearing in the fan that is starting to go out. I have stock intel coolers that are much older and don't make bearing noise.

Other Thoughts: Other than it making noise now due to the fan it really is a nice cpu cooler. For the price though it should last longer than a year.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler

Pros: Cools well
Quiet
Pretty
Sturdy mounting hardware

Cons: Very large!
Heavy

Other Thoughts: This thing BARELY fits in my case (Thermaltake V4). I think I've got about 1/4 inch to spare. In my case, I had to flex the backplate and the frontbracket while trying to tighten the screws with the provided long-handled allen wrench, while the cooler fins do their best to be in the way at all times, lol. Due to the pressure required to flex these pieces and hte angles you have to use, it would be very ewasy to cross-thread and strip a screw or post, and no spares are provided, but if you get it right, it is a very secure mount. Just be careful and take your time.

3 out of 5 eggsScrews stripped!

Pros: The fan looks amazing and seems to cool the computer well. I didn't use the thermal paste included but instead opted for some Arctic 5. Right now everything seems to be ok BUT during the installation one of the screws that came with the kit became stripped and I was unable to secure it completely.

Cons: Stripped screw! This issue could have been easily avoided if they would have just included screws of a slightly higher quality or even a few extra screws in case something happens like this. The tool that they included also seems like it could have been shaped a little differently so that you could install the screws more easily instead of having to do each one at an angle to avoid the massive heatsink.

Other Thoughts: A better tool for installation and higher quality screws or a few spare screws and this fan would be perfect and and I would have given 5 stars. I just hope that it still cools my CPU well without that one screw being seated completely.

Pros: Just awesome. Very pleased. 11*C idle and 38*C Max on Skyrim with 125+ mods installed. Room temp is approximately 72*F.

Cons: The mounting bracket was a B*#$@ to install. -1 Star for for installation.
