The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-R combines some of the most advanced technologies in the market used for CPU coolers to create powerful cooling performance. The CPU cooler utilizes composite heatpipe which is 50% more effective in transferring heat compared to ordinary heatpipes. Combined with a whisper-quiet 135 mm red LED PWM fan positioned between two massive nickel plated pure copper heatsinks, the CNPS9900 MAX-R is more than enough to satisfy overclockers and users who are looking for ultra powerful cooling performance in silent operation.

  • newegg Powerful Cooling Performance [Qmax: 300W] Optimally designed pure copper fins effectively disperse heat away from the CPU via composite heatpipes, while the high capacity 135mm fan quickly cools the heatsink for stable operation of high performance CPUs.
  • newegg Ultra Quiet 135mm Red LED Fan An ultra quiet 135mm fan is incorporated for minimized noise while the red LEDs heighten the cool aesthetics.
  • newegg Black-Pearl Nickel Plating The entire copper heatsink of CNPS9900 MAX-R is ‘Black-Pearl’ Nickel Plated for long-term corrosion resistance, while the deep ‘Black-Pearl’ tone along with the high intensity red LEDs reinforce its powerful aesthetics.
  • newegg PWM Fan Speed Control The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan automatically adjusts fan speed according to the CPU’s temperature, while the included Resistor Cable (RC7P) provides the option of reducing the input voltage for overall reduction of fan speed and noise.
  • newegg High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2 The included all new high performance thermal grease ZM-STG2 maximizes heat transfer from the CPU to the base of CPU cooler for intensified cooling performance.
  • newegg Versatile Compatibility The CNPS9900 MAX-R accommodates a broad range of CPU sockets including Intel LGA1156 / 1366 / 775 and AMD AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None not putting to use!

Cons: Have to subtract 2 eggs, can't complete rebate form. Won't take numbers for the phone and zip code. wouldn't have purchased without rebate! Its gonna go back!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler!

Pros: Great cooler, noticeable drop in temperature and solid build.

Cons: Install could have been more intuitive in my opinion. However I didn't have much issue installing so no egg deduction.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: This cooler dropped my temp by 30 degrees celcius @ idle on a AMD P2 x4 965 3.4 ghz OC to 3.8 ghz. I intend to go higher OC now that i have the cooler since my 760 GTX 4gb is bottlenecked by my CPU.

Cons: Installation. You have to remove an exsisting mobo, exisiting backplate and then try to get to the screws to connect with a high amount of pressure. I had to bend the clips on one side a tad to get it to install with out the fear of breaking my mobo or damaging my CPU. If this was a new build not really a big deal...

Other Thoughts: Pleased with it after i figured out the installation process. LED is not extremely Bright either can really only see it light up outside my Coolermaster HAF 932 case in the dark. Have not seen the mail in rebate yet. Maybe it is getting mailed to me.

5 out of 5 eggsSo good it hurts

Pros: First off I want to say this baby is silent. I love the LED effects and how it sits in my case and MOBO works well. (Full tower Phantom w/ ATX MOBO) Be prepared to need some space, it sits at about 5 inches tall and probably about 3 inches wide. If you hear the fan rubbing on the heatsinks you can spread them apart without worrying about damaging the Fan. For all the people who are having issues with screws not being long enough you need to really analyze the pics and read that thing. I had no issues at all. I chose to install it before i mounted my MOBO. So far everything is keeping cool.

Cons: If your not a patient person or not very graceful installing electronic pieces i would recommend you have someone else install this for you. Will cut back on your shame and dishonor from the things that will come out your mouth. I was able to install it with ease but i can see how someone could really mess it up.

Other Thoughts: More colors PLEASE.

5 out of 5 eggsGreayt Cooler

Pros: Keeps temps on i7 4770k chip running in the 32c - 34 c range overclocked to 4.2 while on idle mode or light work.

Very quiet and looks very cool in my Cool Master Storm Chaser case.

Installation is actually simple if you install the cooler outside the case, just separate the brackets for your CPU and install. Very surprised at how easy and cool it keeps the temps. Remember to have the larger ring facing the front of the case for optimal cooling.

There is plenty of UTube videos on how to install no need for the instructions

Cons: It does not make my wife happy.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to by the Dark Knight cooler and this was my second choice. If I had to do it again i would like to see how it competes with a Noctua cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware rebates

Pros: The cooler is super quiet and keeps my cpu chilly. Detailed instructions were included for the complicated installation procedure.

Cons: It was a pain to install. Required complicated multiple steps to get in place and secure.

Other Thoughts: I was denied a rebate claim due to lack of a bar code label. The company processing this rebate somehow missed the label inside the envelope. Everything was included in my submission. They are allowing me to resubmit but I have to somehow find the barcode label that they have. Beware any offers of rebates from this manufacturer. Without the $20 rebate, this product was overpriced.

2 out of 5 eggsRuined my impression of this company

Pros: Looks solid, not too huge.

Cons: Never got to use it
Was sold a defective product

Other Thoughts: So, after 4 hours of working on this thing trying to get it to fit into my AM3 socket mobo, following the guide step-by-step in exact detail I had no luck.
The "AMD clips" were too impossibly high up to ever meet the bolts coming up from the custom backplate.
I did some research on this and it Turns out that this company has been known to ship these things with defective socket clips, they were apparently supposed to be bent at a deep angle allowing it to be mounted with ease, what I got were shaped the same, but were straight out and had no bend at all in them save for a slight bump close to the thicker part of the metal. I was able to confirm this by seeing other people's pictures with this issue, and those of the people who got the right clips. clearly an issue that needs to be worked out asap!

Saddens me I was excited to get this but I feel like any future business this company may have had from me is now ruined.

Requested Refund
2 stars for sturdy feeling product, doesnt feel cheap at all. Too bad I never got to use it.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsRough installation, functional once on

Pros: -Looks great - I care a lot about the aesthetics of my build, and it looks awesome.

-Cools well- It is cooling my AMD 8350 stock clocking and I generally see around 30C or so...has yet to see Florida summer weather...that will be the true test. Under load I've never seen a spike over 45C even. Haven't done much load testing but some of my usages are fairly CPU intensive.

Cons: -Installation- Installation on an AM3 socket (Gigabyte 990fxa ud3) was not fun. As I'm sure you've read, many people compain about the screws not being long enough....absolutely the case. I was off by a good 5-10cm. My eventual solution was to ditch the Zalman backplate, use the stock mobo backplate, and long screws that came with my case. Luckily all of those matched up! However...I shouldn't have to employ that much effort or creativity to get this thing installed...come on how hard would it be to make the screws a little longer Zalman?

Other Thoughts: I like the cooler, it works well, looks nice, just be prepared for a potentially tricky install. 1 egg off because of installation, and the other because I feel the fan mounting could be a little more solid. There's a 2 or 3 degree angle between the heatsink sides and the fan in the center, and the fan is even so slightly wobbly (unnoticeable once it's up to speed, the centrifugal forces straighten it out).

3 out of 5 eggsSEEMS great, buuuut . . .

Pros: Looks neat.
Well constructed
if it fit, it would be great

Cons: although it says that it fits AM3+, from the reviews and my experience, it does not. The screws provided were WAY to short to fit in my Gigabyte GA-970A, and I tried for hours before just using the stock cooler.

Other Thoughts: If you know that it will fit, get it! It looks epic and from what I've read, it cools like a blizzard. But I will never know, due to a poorly designed mounting system.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: This replaced another Zalman cpu fan that was five years old and the same style. My amd 6300 clocked at 4.3 Ghz is idling at 23 Celsius. Seems to be well built. My other one is still working by the way.

Cons: Installation. It was a real pain.
