The Zalman CNPS9900 MAX-R combines some of the most advanced technologies in the market used for CPU coolers to create powerful cooling performance. The CPU cooler utilizes composite heatpipe which is 50% more effective in transferring heat compared to ordinary heatpipes. Combined with a whisper-quiet 135 mm red LED PWM fan positioned between two massive nickel plated pure copper heatsinks, the CNPS9900 MAX-R is more than enough to satisfy overclockers and users who are looking for ultra powerful cooling performance in silent operation.

  • newegg Powerful Cooling Performance [Qmax: 300W] Optimally designed pure copper fins effectively disperse heat away from the CPU via composite heatpipes, while the high capacity 135mm fan quickly cools the heatsink for stable operation of high performance CPUs.
  • newegg Ultra Quiet 135mm Red LED Fan An ultra quiet 135mm fan is incorporated for minimized noise while the red LEDs heighten the cool aesthetics.
  • newegg Black-Pearl Nickel Plating The entire copper heatsink of CNPS9900 MAX-R is ‘Black-Pearl’ Nickel Plated for long-term corrosion resistance, while the deep ‘Black-Pearl’ tone along with the high intensity red LEDs reinforce its powerful aesthetics.
  • newegg PWM Fan Speed Control The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan automatically adjusts fan speed according to the CPU’s temperature, while the included Resistor Cable (RC7P) provides the option of reducing the input voltage for overall reduction of fan speed and noise.
  • newegg High Performance Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG2 The included all new high performance thermal grease ZM-STG2 maximizes heat transfer from the CPU to the base of CPU cooler for intensified cooling performance.
  • newegg Versatile Compatibility The CNPS9900 MAX-R accommodates a broad range of CPU sockets including Intel LGA1156 / 1366 / 775 and AMD AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome cooler!

Pros: I got this over 2 years ago and no problems except the fan recently started rattling. I contacted customer service and got a replacement fan in the post in under a week for less than 10usd.

Cons: I wouldn't even consider the fan an issue because the gf has two cats and the hair gets everywhere even inside the computer with a filter on intake -.-

4 out of 5 eggsGood air flow, hard to install.

Pros: *Quality product
*Great cooling
*Super silent even without 'quite mode' cord

Cons: *Heavy
*Super hard to install on a Asus Hero VII 1150 socket

Other Thoughts: The quality of this heatsink is awesome. It works as amazing as it looks and Im overall happy with it. The downside I had with it was despite following the instructions to a T (and installing outside the case) it was a ***** to screw in. The B-type screws included could barely reach the nuts/the nuts didnt extend far enough through the mobo cpu mounting holes to screw in easily, quite a bit of force (not TOO excessive but much much more than any CPU cooler Ive installed before) was needed to mount.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable, performs

Pros: When properly installed, with a good seat and the right paste, this thing does silently what many can't do while making a racket. It's been on my Phenom II x4 955 BE @4.0ghz for five years, going on six. That chip stocks at 3.2, had to bump the volts and it still handles the heat. idles at 32C, normal operation at 40, Prime95 never goes above 52c. Got a scythe 120 slipstream on the back that no doubt helps, but it can't move heat that stays on the chip. If you can fit it, it's worth it.

Cons: It's large, bit heavy, so make sure everything is secured before tipping tower upright. Um, gets dusty? Hard to find cons, it's got one job: cool the cpu. It does it brilliantly.

Other Thoughts: Going water on my new build, but if that doesn't please, ordering another one of these. The first is staying with the original build, going to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great cooling. Great price. Unique look.

Cons: Not being made anymore?

Other Thoughts: I purchased the last CNPS9900MAX Newegg had, and I doubt they'll be restocked. I feel privileged to to own a Zalman cooler before they're gone (forever?) Thank you Zalman for an awesome cooler; I hope you continue to release new and innovate products for many years to come.

4 out of 5 eggsLarger than it looks but still great!

Pros: Works very well and is easier than some CPU coolers to install.

Cons: The back mounting bracket bolt restrainers (c-clamp like things) can be a bit difficult to attach.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Cooler

Pros: Huge in a good way
Black nickel plated everything; looks good but dissipates heat well
Excellent air throughput with minimal noise

Cons: Directions suck but I'm not going to knock an egg for that as I got it figured out

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet with good performance

Pros: Keeps my I7 4790k nice and cool (avg 31c). Quiet, nice looks, and does not crowd anything on the motherboard (asrock z97m killer)

Cons: Installation is tricky due to the size of the fins.

Other Thoughts: This thing is huge, you'll want to make sure you have room for it in your case. Definitely install on the motherboard before putting it in your case; you won't be able to attach it once the motherboard is installed.

Some of the reviews complain about the magnetized Alan wrench. This should not be a concern, as magnets don't damage solid state computer components when there is no current going through them. Keep the wrench away from your hdd and you'll be fine. The magnet is necessary as the holes for the bolts are tricky to get to.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Fantastic performing heat sink, I have this sitting on my AMD FX8350. MB/Case details below

Stock settings
Rest: ~1C + ambient
Load: ~18C + ambient

OC - 4.4 GHz @ 3.6vcore (medium LLC)
Load: ~ 24C + ambient

Great numbers as compared to the stock cooler that comes with the AMD cpu (rest +8c/+40c at rest/load which is close to AMD's recommended thermal limit.

Price performance is good but not great unless you get it on sale, then it's just epic which is what it is for me.

Cons: Fan doesn't make a big difference in cooling temperature when you consider the amount of noise it makes. From silent to full blast there was only a difference of 3C and that was with all my case fans on full blast as well. That being said, not a big con as I'll take a 3C hit for some peace and quiet. The cpu sits ~45C at load which is well under AMD's recommended thermal limit and thats fine by me.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard: Gigabye FX990A-UD3
Case: Antec 900 2-120mm in, 1-120 back, 1-200 top)
