5 out of 5 eggsBest next to liquid cooling!

Pros: excellent cooling, had it since 2012 keeps my i5 at 42c while gaming. I love the cosmetic look.

Cons: little difficult to install due to the size and ram clearance. If you have tall heat sinks on ram will not fit.

1 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE! STAY AWAY!!

Pros: LED Light, Design helps it so that you dont loose a ram slot on a 970A MoBo

Cons: Heat distribution is horrid
Does not stay cool
Fan Constantly on while doing absolutely nothing
See Other Thoughts:

Other Thoughts: Originally I have a 212 Evo 120 mm heatsink/fan which I replaced with this one thinking the design would help me have all my ram slots (the evo is a lot bigger than anticipated). the CNPS helped. I was able to install 4 ram cards and was happy with everything. BUT, as soon as I boot it up and load up windows, I noticed my temps were too high. At first it didnt bother me since the CPU usage wasnt going passed 20% while sitting idle but the temps were about 70+ degrees!!! Thats insane for running idle.

When I mean idle, I mean a fresh boot, logged into profile, only have a handful of programs running at start up, Open Hardware Monitor being one of them, and the temps start off at 70+!!

So I used it for a bit then realized it was not going to get better. So I re mounted it with a better application of thermal paste, re arranged my air flow for optimal cooling, hooked everything back up and what do I find waiting for me? No difference what so ever. Temps still at mid to high 70's. As soon as I start streaming and playing games, temps shoot up to low to mid 80's. Grant it, that they didnt go higher than that. But after a few hours of gaming, CPU usage was above 50%!! I never had this problem with the Evo 212.

This CPU Heatsink/fan, did not do its intended job. Im currently using the EVO 212 again and my temps are sitting at mid 20's. Barely any CPU usage. This is what I need for my PC to be at while searching the web or while not doing anything at all and not have the temps shoot up to 80's while doing next to nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: 1. Fits in a mid-tower easily.
2. Quality materials
3. Design is ingenious
4. Thermals are great
5. Uses bolts instead of screws so no chance of stripping them

Cons: 1. Only 1 tool for the bolts is included so don't loose it otherwise you'll find it impossible to remove
2. Has a black nickel plating on it, can't tell if this is needed on the point of contact though.
3. Fan mounting system is basically 4 screws that screw into sheet metal, not a fan of this because what if it strips? They can be easily angled and put in wrong then you have mis-alignment woes.
4. You can't use other fans because there are 4 screws that secure the plastic frame to the heatsink. Any fans other than this specialty one will hit the screws of the frame and prevent you from screwing in the fan. NOT IMPRESSED recessed screws would've allowed this!

Other Thoughts: Using chrome polish to remove Coollaboratory Liquid Pro from this heatsink base causes the black nickel finish to be rubbed off. Had I known this I wouldn't have experimented with it on the heatsink just the cpu die. I really see no issue since it isn't exposed to the air but still disappointing. Final temps after using chrome polish on the heatspreader, die, and heatsink are 3770k @ 1.300 Core Volts and 80c full load.

5 out of 5 eggsCool and quiet

Pros: Keeps a 3570k clocked to 4.5 ghz under 60c at full load. The pulse width modulation (PWM) fan is very quite never exceeding 2000 RPM. No worries about touching the RAM like some boards and coolers have been known to do.

Cons: Not the easiest cooler to dust off.

Other Thoughts: One sharp looking cooler. Perfectly accents any build. Especially if you have Black/blue components.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: See below

Cons: See below

Other Thoughts: I wrote an earlier review but was sleepy from spending hours trying to install this so here is an update.

Basically this cooler outperforms the Hyper 212 EVO, after seeing it's size no wonder. It easily fits in a NZXT Source 210/220 case as these support 160mm heatsinks and this one is 158mm. I had issues installing this because there is a loading block (piece of plastic) that comes with it but this is not for an 1155 socket type. I spent over an hour working on installation until I realized this fact (which is stated in the instructions but could've been bigger). Their clamping mechanism is just 4 bolts and the backplate, which works fine but I'd rather they were screws instead. What happens if we loose the little screwdriver for the bolts, we'd have no way to unscrew them! Also the heatsink is so large you don't really get a direct straight down turn on the bolts. It's more like a side angle you secure them from and this is very annoying because it takes alot of patience at first. My final temps with this are 3770k - 4.5GHz - 1.1900 core voltage @ 80c instead of 90C with the Hyper 212 EVO. A great change and one that's welcome.

The fan cannot really be changed out with another because it secures with 4 screws to the sheet metal of the heatsink and there are 4 screws holding the mounting clip to the heatsink that get in the way of different fans. I admit this is annoying I'd rather the mounting was done using a clip of some sort. Where does one buy a replacement fan then Zalman? Your site doesn't list any that are compatible (have space for the 4 screws holding the clip to the heatsink).

Worth alot considering it does perform better than any other heatsinks I've tried, I got mine with a special rebate making it worthwhile. I would probably try liquid cooling if this was to expensive later.

5 out of 5 eggsThank you

Pros: With it's massive size and great design this heatsink really outshines others.

Cons: The problem I had was I kept trying to use the load bracket then the double-sided tape, it turned out the load bracket isn't needed on the 1155 socket! I spent 1 hour trying to make this work and confused what was wrong. I almost returned the darn thing.

Other Thoughts: It's just tiring, I'm tired. I wasted hours attempting to use the load bracket and discovering it was mostly pointless. That is not for an 1155 socket! My original problem was my Hyper Evo 212 had temps of 90C with my 3770k at 1.1900 core voltage. That's way to high and makes literally no sense. I tried so much to reseat this and change things but even 2 fans made no difference. Anyways this cooler does a better job at 70c full load with 1.1900 core voltage. Thank you because I was going insane with the Evo 212. The included thermal grease is giving me better temps than the Thermal Fusion 400 did

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Looks great, cool enough.

Cons: I thought I was going to break my mother board trying to secure this thing. It's not easy to install. The back plate had to bend quiet a bit before it would reach the screws and the whole time I was cringing. My temps are between 40 and 45c idle, 60-70c under load (I am overclocked to 4.3) I was expecting better temps based on some of the other reviews I've read. I'm using a Cooler Master Haf X case which has pretty good air flow to begin with. I've also tried remounting and re-applying the thermal paste and it helped by just a couple degrees. I'll probably switch to some sort of water cooling when I can afford it.

Other Thoughts: This thing looks really cool, it adds a lot to the look of my build since I have 4 LED fans already on my case. I wish it cooled a little better but I'm not convinced fully that I could have done something different to make it more efficient (this is my first build ever), I may actually try to remount it a third time and see if I can get some of the nice 35c idle temps I've seen other people claim to get.
