5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: perfect solution to replace my stock fan. My mother board was over heating. My system is now 60 degrees cooler. Highly recommended

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great low profile and design to fit into my case and work with my mother board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Low Profile Cooler

Pros: Low Profile
Cools Well
Price

Cons: For some MB's its girth will block some ram slots.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great cooler I have a small Micro atx case and didnt have much clearence under the power supply so I went with this cooler on my FX 8350 OC'd to 4.3. Running prime95 my temps dont ever go over 50.

5 out of 5 eggsZalman did a great job !!!

Pros: Don't be fooled by its small size. This thing can cool very well. It's very low profile and fits in my SG-05. On 1200 RPM it keeps my I7-4771 around 28-30C on idle and around 40-45C during gameplay. It was very easy to install. Backplate ensures solid installation.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: If you are building a HTPC, this is the way to go. Just dont expect a full tower sized heatsink performance and you will be satisfied.

2 out of 5 eggssilent but difficult

Pros: quiet, rebate

Cons: Very large, very difficult to install on amd3+

Other Thoughts: I have a an asus atx motherboard, and still don't have enough room for the fan and all 4 ram slots. This thing is huge, and very hard to install. It is very quiet however. This is my second Zalman cooler. The first was great. If I had known, I would have probably chosen a different cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat fan with a horizontal drawback

Pros: The fan works great. I haven't built a PC is several years, but I was always fond of this style of cooler. I had trouble finding a cooler for my FX 8350 because I haven't been in the PC building scene in several years. So I assumed anything by this company that was made out of copper would work fine. It advertised it supports the CPU I got so I jumped on it. It indeed keeps it cool. I'll hear my video card's fans ramp up WAY before I'd ever hear this fan. Not saying the fan is loud or quiet, but with the case closed and in an intense match of BF4 the last thing I pay attention to is my CPU fan's noise level.

Cons: It's big. Which is usually a good thing. But it's TOO big. Thankfully I'm fine with my 2 RAM stick set-up so far because the RAM slot closest to the CPU is blocked. I even bought low profile RAM but it was just not low enough. If I decide to get more RAM I'll have to invest in another CPU cooler so I could fit the sticks appropriately.

Other Thoughts: This cooler works great for every intense gaming session I can throw at it. I'm not into video editing or w/e so idk how it performs in those conditions. Just a guy with a gaming hobby. With no plans to overclock anything, I'll never have an issue with heat with my stock FX 8350. But like any active PC user: I'll eventually want to upgrade things like more RAM sticks, so I'll have to buy a new CPU cooler to enjoy all 4 RAM slots on my motherboard.

System Specs:
CPU - AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz
GPU - HIS IceQ x2 Radeon HD 7970
Case - Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced
RAM - G.Skill Ares Series 1866 8GB (2 x 4 GB)

1 out of 5 eggsnot at all "quiet"

Pros: Relative to the competition, there aren't any "pros", really. The stock cooler that comes with an i7 4770 is just as quiet, and other after market models are better-made and cool better.

Cons: Not at all quiet. The Rosewill RCX-Z300 (that I used in two previous systems) is just as low-profile, costs less (even after the "rebate", which Zalman will find an excuse not to honor) and is quieter. Very poor quality - the surface is a mile away from mirror-like. Installation is not anything like the very good system (though a bit involved) you'll find on another low-profile cooler, the Cooler Master S524 GeminII.

Other Thoughts: If I had it to do again, I'd get another GeminII like I use in my main computer in a old Thermaltake Xaser II case. I spent just as much for this Zalman, didn't get the rebate because I printed off a copy of the Newegg invoice e-mailed to me (instead of mailing an actual invoice, which Newegg never includes with their shipments - as if Zalman is unaware of that fact), and got stuck with an inferior product. I have nothing but regret after buying this Zalman.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in most compact builds except for one

Pros: Very low profile, great for everything down to mini-itx cases that are roughly around 10" W x 8" H" x 15" L. Very quiet, great for something you plan on running often and being near. Very efficient at cooling because of the heatpipe and fins design.

Cons: Dimensions of this heat sink with fan is 120mm L x120mm W x 60mm H so if you plan on utilizing the PCI Express slot on most Mini-ITX motherboards, this will block it entirely. It's literally just maybe 12-20mm too wide for a card to clear.

Other Thoughts: Great product for all other uses. I plan on utilizing this for a different build that I had planned on buying another one of these for. I plan on trying out the ZALMAN CNPS8000B to see if this allows clearance for my PCI Express network card.

2 out of 5 eggsNo go on ASRock Z87 ITX

Pros: Nice build quality. Does fit in the Silverstone FT03 Mini.

Cons: This cooler needs to be oriented correctly so the heatpipes follow the cpu die. On an ASRock Z87 ITX board, the heatsink hits even low profile memory. It will fit the other way, but with the heatpipes not covering enough of the die, it is not an effective cooler.

Other Thoughts: This heatsink is a no go for ASRock's new ITX motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic performance. Just a tad too wide

Pros: This little fan is fantastic. I recently built a whole new tower and it's keeping my AMD FX-8350 nice and cool. What's a nice little side note is it also cools down the parts around the CPU.

After playing Planetside 2/Crysis 3/Far Cry 3/Metro: Last Light/Saints Row 3/Skyrim/WoW the past 2 days (10+ hours each day) I believe I didn't see the CPU go above 45C (I might be off a few C's, but the number gave me no worries)

Cons: I understand it's low profile, but jeez! On my ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 I can't use the RAM slot closest to the CPU. I'm not taking an egg off because I'm only intending on using a 2-stick set-up, and it's my fault for not studying this fan enough.

I installed the CPU first, so I haven't yet tried to see if the RAM truly fits in the first slot, but I'd have to take off the fan to do so. If you DO get ram, a tip is to get low-profile!

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm really happy with this fan's performance. I'm a gamer so I needed this to keep things cool. For the thermal paste I'm using Artic Silver 5.

3 out of 5 eggsQuiet, but doesn't fit every case

Pros: Quiet with efficient cooling. Low profile.

Cons: Very challenging install, as the one-size-fits-all backing plate is too heavy for the two-sided tape to hold reliably. (Separate plates for AMD and Intel should be used instead, and would make the install much more pleasant.) The backing plate interferes with stiffening ribs stamped into some case bottoms, like the Antec Minuet. The heatpipes interfere with AMD memory DIMMs.

Other Thoughts: After briefly packing this away, I reconsidered and tried a second and third time. I had originally attempted to install this on an ASRock AM3, but the heatpipes contacted the memory. I then attempted to fit it to an Asus P5G41T-M LX Plus, but the board was installed in an Antec Minuet with stiffening rips stamped into the case bottom, and the backing plate interfered. Finally, I had success with an older MSI AM3 in a Cooler Master Elite case; although one of the DIMM slots was blocked by the heatpipes, this board has four memory slots, and I was still able to get in 16gb. (The intended use is as a NAS server.) Once installed, the fan proved to be very quiet and the CPU kept very cool versus the stock fan, and this will be a happy arrangement.

I'm knocking off two eggs for all these problems, considering that the fan is billed as low profile and use of separate AMD and Intel backing plates would have spared the trouble.
