1 out of 5 eggsLasted a whole 8 months

Pros: Quiet, works well at first, cheap

Cons: Rarely used the computer this was used on, in a spare bedroom, back up pc. Today, the feet were broken on two of the posts and the HSF was leaning on my video card. Hope nothing got shorted on that. Absolute junk.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY

2 out of 5 eggsNot all that great

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: 1. I bought this to cool an older AMD 965 for my son, and I won't cool much better than the stock cooler. The mounting surface is rough and unfinished, with gaps between the aluminium block and the heat pipes. I've tried applying this unit repeatedly with different meathods of heat compound, and it just doesn't seem to be working as I hoped. The processor is getting over 62 degrees with just light gaming. I'm using it because I paid for it, but it provides no benefit to cooling.

2. After about a year, the fan that came with this is starting to rattle like a cheap 1990 hard drive. Silent? I don't think so.

Other Thoughts: I expected better from Zalman.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for the price

Pros: Works better than expected, look bigger than I expected but fit to the millimeter on a MSI 970 Gaming and Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Case. Cooling a FX-6300 slightly OC'd and it never go higher than 40C

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Keep your room clean, put filters on the fans slots to because this fan will grab any dust around and that may be why some people say their fans is failing after a few months of use, or it wasn't properly scr*wed in place and fell down...

5 out of 5 eggsBig improvement over stock fan

Pros: Easy installation (no removing mobo)
Quieter than stock fan
Good price

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Haven't had any problems with stressing the CPU with Handbrake in encoding HD with an i5 at 3800 GHz.

1 out of 5 eggsSecond bad fan!

Pros: It worked, for a while.

Cons: The first one of these I ordered broke after a couple of months. A fan blade broke off while in use. The manufacturer wouldn't send out a replacement until I sent back the defective, and would not pay for shipping costs.

So I foolishly ordered a second one of the same fan, needing one immediately. It worked for about two years then suddenly just quit. Needless to say I won't be buying any more Zalman products.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,

We sincerely apologize for the issue. Please contact our customer service e-mail or via toll free number 1-888-925-6266 for further assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's big?

Cons: Three months after owning it, temps on the CPU started spiking radically, up to 65-70c. Nothing changed regarding the setup. I removed the cooler, cleaned the plate and cpu, re-applied Arctic Silver's Arctic Alumina and reseated the cooler. All fans in case in perfect working order and I'm still seeing spikes, with average temp hovering around 40c.

Other Thoughts: The plate doesn't cover the entirety of the processor, which may be part of the problem. Highest RPM I can get is around 2500. I've set the processor/mobo to power saving mode until my replacement Zalman heat sink arrives.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great size and a decent upgrade from a stock cpu cooler. Installation was fairly easy but I've never replaced a cpu cooler before so it was all new to me.

Cons: Slight rattle but not an issue

5 out of 5 eggsCool, quiet, worth it

Pros: Cool; Got my idle temps down by several degrees compared to stock cooling straight out of the box, and my load temps down even more than that.
Fits in a small case with ease and cleared every component by a mile. Using an ASUS M5A78L-M LX-Plus motherboard and G.Skill RIPJAW Series RAM, for reference.

Very quiet, too, as in: you can't hear it running over other fans. Installation was fairly quick and easy for my AM3+ core, aside from one con.

Cons: The only con to this is that there are grooves where the copper heatpipes touch the CPU that should be filled in with thermal grease for effective cooling.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I bought this over AMD's stock cooler. Much less noise, and I'm getting cool temperatures. If you want something beefier, you could also try Zalman's CNPS9500A for a little more money, as I've heard it can fit on virtually every motherboard they've ever tested. For my FX-8350@4.0GHz, though, the Performa works just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet!

Pros: The stock cooler on my mother's AM3 was just too loud. I wanted something quiet, without having to remove the motherboard and install a back plate. The installation of this was pretty easy, and with Artic Silver 5, it is keeping things cool. But most importantly, it is very quiet. I do not know or care how it would work if I were overclocking, but for a stock setup, it gave me the ease of installation and low noise I was looking for. MATX board in a mid ATX case.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent Cooler for Some Tight Situations

Pros: This cooler proved ideal mounted onto a CPU populating a micro-ATX motherboard in a micro-ATX mini-tower case. Many of the micro-ATX motherboards have the RAM slots located very close to the CPU. Most CPU coolers would overlap the first RAM slot (at least). Although you can find quite a few coolers tall enough to clear some low-profile RAM, these coolers are often too tall to fit into a micro-ATX mini-tower case. This cooler is short enough (to fit most mini-tower cases), and slender enough to clear the RAM slots, too (allowing you to use RAM with full-height heat spreaders).

Cons: This cooler does not have back plate. Some folks consider this a pro (because it's more trouble to install a cooler that requires a back plate), but I would prefer a sturdy steel back plate, because it permits you to clamp the cooler to the CPU more tightly, improving the thermal interface. Without the support of a back plate, you risk damaging the motherboard, if you over-tighten the cooler (and bend the motherboard).

Other Thoughts: I would not use this cooler in a full-size ATX build. There are better solutions, when you have sufficient space.
