4 out of 5 eggsKeeps CPU Cool

Pros: This fan does its job: it keeps my CPU cool. Under a stress test for 30 minutes, the CPU did not go over 50°C -- which is good. The "normal" heat range for my CPU is 50°C to 60°C, with the max being 61°C. Under normal loads, the CPU stays around 30°C (or 86°F).

Cheap! Other aftermarket fans can easily run $40+

Cons: It can be a bit loud, especially at the higher RPMs. If you are looking for a quiet CPU fan, this might not be the fan for you.

If you want a demonstration of just how "loud" it can be, watch this review: http://youtu.be/R7i7xBLClV0?t=3m42s

Other Thoughts: Overall, if you need a cheaper CPU fan to keep your system cool and do not care about how loud it gets, this is a great fan.

As for me, when I get a bit more money, I am planning on upgrading to a quieter CPU fan.

5 out of 5 eggsKick*** cooling capacity

Pros: Had an issue with my CPU overheating on my old computer. So I did LOTS of research and consideration and bought this bad boy here (it was $75 when I bought it if I remember correctly). In all my research (probably 10+ HOURS) I found Zalman makes a dang good product and the Fluid Shield Bearing will last longer than any other part of the fan.

Put it on my computer and my over heating problems as far as CPU were GONE. a friend of mine set my computer up with a monitor where I could keep track of the temps and performance of everything. This thing kept the CPU WELL in the good range and even HE was surprised at the new operating temp.

The overheating eventually moved to the northbridge that got damaged by the initial overheat of the CPU and led to the death of the computer about 5 months later.

Overall to sum it up. GO FOR IT! it's well worth the money,

Cons: it's tall. you may run into fitment issues. and the bracket takes a few minutes to figure out. Other than that the product itself is amazing.

Other Thoughts: btw have you seen the review policies? WOW!

3 out of 5 eggsupdated review

Pros: Cheap
Cooled good
really easy to install, no funky back plates or 100 pieces to put together
included thermal paste was decent

Cons: started making a lot of noise within the 2nd month
always ran at max rpm. Not really a con since it's really quiet, but when I did have cool n quiet enabled and it still didn't go down.

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for under $20. It worked great for the first 2 months, but when I removed it to replace some case fans it started making a lot of noise. To counter the noise I lowered the fan speed with Speedfan and it worked for a while and never effected the cooling. Then a few weeks later the fan noise (sounded like a wire or thin piece of plastic hitting the fan but nothing was hitting it) came at any speed. it still kept the cpu cool though. After I upgraded to an fx-6300 I bought a new cpu HSF.

For the money this HSF works great. It could handle a 1GHz overclock on my Phenom II x3 720be and stay below 52c. I'm not sure it could do that with a 125w + cpu but for 95w and lower it's great.

I would recommend this cooler if you plan on leaving it there until you upgrade cpus or get a new pc, I think uninstalling it did something to the fan for me.

Just use a good thermal paste/grease like ac5 (that is what I initially used) and you temps shouldn't get to high. If it ever goes on sale again I will buy more, but at regular price you can get better for the same price or a few bucks more. If the fan hadn't gave out so quick it would have earned a 5 star rating.

5 out of 5 eggsDoing its job better than expected.

Pros: So I'm still using a Phenom II X4 (I know, laugh it up, but the computer has been going strong for a long time). The stock cooler was clearly on its last legs. I had to reapply thermal paste every few months as temps would go through the roof. Even after removing the old paste and reapplying last week, I couldn't keep temps down. I was getting 45-50C at idle and 85C under load. A few times, it passed 100C and the PC auto-shutdown. I don't always realize this is happening until I open a monitor and it becomes apparent that the heat is what just powered my computer off. The processor somehow survived all this.

So I bought this thing hoping it would keep my old tank engine Phenom running a bit longer. I got home today when I received the package and my PC was idling (locked/hibernating) at 52C. The house is warm, but that's still extremely high. Put the Zalman on, which was extremely easy on AM3, didn't need to use any bracket or anything, it just clamped right on and a screw tightening locked it down.

I rebooted the computer, and the temp was at 45C. After about 5 minutes, it was down to 29C, and I played about an hour of video games while watching the temp never go above 39C. Prior to this, it would hit 70 watching a video online. So not only is it doing its job on my old bear, it's doing it significantly better than expected. It drops temperature extremely quickly after leaving a CPU intensive activity and seems to want to idle around 30C, which I believe is excellent, and it keeps my load temperatures significantly lower than my idle temps were with the stock cooler. All in all, fantastic so far.

Cons: Nothing too serious yet, although I've only had it on for a few hours, so I have no way at this point to judge its longevity. It is notably louder than the stock fan, but nothing ear splitting or annoying. I grew accustomed to the extra noise rather quickly.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than Stock!

Pros: Brought my temps down by 15 degrees from stock cooler. Nice sturdy design. Solid craftmanship. Quiet.

Cons: None really. A little tricky to install on AM3+ but not difficult at all.

Other Thoughts: This was worth every penny. It brought down my Max Load temps by almost 20 degrees ceslius.

Running stock cooler I with Max Turbo (4.1Ghz) on I would get to the lower 60's celsius after about 30 minutes of gameplay in Planetside 2.

After installing this cooler with same bios settings I could run planetside 2 for many hours it only once got above 50 celcius right before my air conditioner clicked on so the room was almost 78 degrees when it hit 50 celsius on Load after hours of play.

Used: Prolimatech PRO-PK2-1.5G Nano Aluminum High-Grade Thermal Compound for this install.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, Great price!

Pros: Installed on a LGA1150 motherboard. Easy to install, runs cool. Haven't tested it with gaming yet, but I will soon.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: It comes setup to be used on an AMD MOBO, you just have to loosen and adjust the brackets to fit an Intel board.
