2 out of 5 eggsDidn't fit

Pros: Large, supports multiple fans

Cons: Difficult to install, to large for the EVGA x79 Dark

Other Thoughts: I really wanted this to work out. But it just will not fit the X79 Dark from EVGA. If you orient it with the fans blowing to the back of the case, you lose two slots of ram. Those two slots actually cause you to lose 4 slots because of the way the X79 Dark needs to have memory filled. This is now an expensive paper weight.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job cool and quiet

Pros: 120mm quiet fan, optional 2x 120mm fans - clips included, sturdy and VERY well attached to the motherboard with included mounting plate (for AMD and Intel). Does not specifically state, but it does support 1150 socket Intel (use the 1155 setup instructions to install on 1150). No hole mismatch or bracket issues. Everything came together perfectly!

Cons: I'm hesitant to say this is a con, but it's a tough install. Other reviews said the same thing, and I thought it was the installer. Turns out, it IS a somewhat tough install. But, it's an after-market solution to manage your heat and I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. No eggs deducted for that, but read on to see my advice regarding the installation.

Other Thoughts: Other reviews said allow an hour or more to install - if you don't take the advice in the reviews, I can pretty much guarantee it will take you more time. I arrogantly felt I had this covered. I was wrong. Took me over an hour because I tried to shortcut the install. So, I impart this wisdom to you, the next buyer. THIS IS IMPORTNAT that you listen to me here, I recommend that you install the heat sink BEFORE you mount the motherboard in the case (or you take out the motherboard if it’s already installed). I have an ASUS Z87 Deluxe, 2x 8GB G.Skill RipJaws X series, 40mm height, all going into an Antec 1100 - LOADS of room AND can install the mounting plate with the motherboard already in the case because I have an opening underneath the processor mount in the case, but this did not help me to tighten the 4 bolts down (and in some cases, even access the bolts). That’s when I decided to remove the motherboard for the install. The unit comes with a tool to help you tighten it - and it's helpful, but not if your fingers are up against the case. Since the CNPS 14x comes with a metal under-motherboard mounting plate, I feel it's sturdy to install the motherboard in the case after installing the heatsink. I actually held the motherboard by the heat sink while sliding my ASUS Z87 Deluxe into the Antec 1100 case. The heat sink clears the memory height, but only just. Any memory that exceeds 40mm + 1 or 2mm will be too high and you may lose the use of DIMM slot(s) depending on your motherboard. You also may have to play around with putting the memory in last/first with the heat sink, but it WILL work (other reviews said they had problems - might be motherboard specific). I also installed an optional 120mm fan on the heatsink using the included clips and it rests on the top of the memory heat sink in my DIMM A_1 slot (I added a small rubber pad buffer so the fan/memory won't create vibration noises). The ASUS Fan Expert 2 records the max. RPM of the CPU fan at 1400RPMs +/- 50 RPMs (and the secondary fan at 760RPMs separately). At low temps, it will run at a reported 1100-1200 RPMs, but I can’t hear it at all or just barely. At idle, the temps report about 26*C, and at a full load with Prime95 on a 4770K, I get 56-60*C (I used a different manufacturer’s thermal paste solution instead of the included one with the heatsink).
The heat sink looks cool, but I think another manufacturer could have provided the same cooling with an easier install and perhaps a bit cheaper price. But I have used Cooler Master and Zalman CPU cooling solutions and I am satisfied with both of them and this unit. I don’t regret buying it or the install.
The reason for purchasing this was thermal management in a non-aggressive overclocked and/or a non-overclocked solution, appearance, and fan/noise control. This definitely meets my needs in ALL of those categories and I would buy this again for another of my preferred systems and be a little wiser on the next instal

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It is good cooler. It has good huge and fit my case.

Cons: Can not be installed on a 1155 Z77 socket. That is hard for very careful CPU. It is huge and can't fit my high ram. I have to put one fan on left.

4 out of 5 eggsINSTALL OUTSIDE OF CASE

Pros: Temperatures are very low.
Price - At 35$ after MIR this is probably the best bang for your buck.
Noise: Much quieter than the Stock HSF, A fair amount than a 212 EVO.

Cons: Installation: I don't see how this is even possible to install inside your case unless it's MASSIVE. Even taking the MB out it was still very difficult to get some of the bolts in due to the various heatsinks on my board (NB, etc.)

Other Thoughts: Make sure your case supports 160mm heatsinks, and if you have ram with extra large heat spreaders it probably won't fit.

3 out of 5 eggsThe rebate never come...

Pros: nice looks

Cons: -i never received the rebate
-be patient while install, 2, 3 hours depends on mobo
-you'll probably need a huge desktop case because of the size of the cooler
-there is not way to contact them

Other Thoughts: i don't recommended this product to any one.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Poor Design

Pros: This is a long overdue update to my prior review. Can not give more then 3 eggs due to the poor design, but now that I have it mounted and been running for almost a month, I can say it is excellent as far as cooling. Very quiet, almost silent, even with an additional 140mm fan mounted. I moved from liquid cooling with initial intent of this being a temporary CPU cooler while I rebuild my external water cooling system. Seeing the CPU temperature with this cooler on a 3.4Ghz AMD, it is maintaining the same temperature as my former 2.6 AMD liquid cooled CPU. This is impressive for a heat-sink/fan to perform as well as liquid and with no more noticeable noise.

Cons: Still the fact that if the mounting screws where a few threads too short to make this a comfortable install. Such a simple fix that Zalman should have seen before even putting this on the market, or they did see and just neglected to supply more correct mounting screws still will make me think twice before choosing another Zalman product.

Other Thoughts: To put a flawed product on the market that would take very little $$ to correct in exchange for negative image/feedback to me is not worth the $$ saved. Especially since this is such an excellent heat-sink/cooler that preforms above any other heat-sink I have ever used could have "put a feather in Zalman's cap". If it was just a mediocre cooler, then perhaps the tradeoff to save a couple bucks may have been worth it. Bottom line, shame on you Zalman for not recognizing your own superior product and biting the bullet to make it truly superior with such a simple fix right from the start.

Unless you are very experienced and have a LOT of patients, I suggest looking for a different cooler, but if you are willing to deal with the very frustrating and scary install of this, it does an above excellent job and extremely silent operation.

Oh yes, this thing is HUGE. I have one of Silverstone's very large and expensive cases that the motherboard is mounted and slid on a track into the case. This will not clear the opening in the back of the case. for the drawer to slide back in. Had to mount the MB inside the box like a lot of the less expensive cases have you do. Not a big obstacle, but anyone who has one of these SilverStone Temjin Series boxes knows what I'm talking about.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: It looks great when installed. I have an I7-3770k installed on an asrock extreme 4 motherboard. Temps are in the mid 40's when playing BF3 at medium setting locked at 120fps.

Cons: Tough to install, but nothing really insane. I noticed the screws they gave me weren't long enough, so I made some custom modifications of my own, and everything went together well. Don't lost the screw tool they give you, you'll never get it on or off without it. Also, if you are using high performance ram make sure you check clearance BEFORE you install the heatsink.

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid, $30, this is a great product, and works very well.

4 out of 5 eggsBig

Pros: Seems to be doing a good job. Significantly quieter than the stock cooler that came off. Cools by a good bit as well, although I'm not overclocking aggressively - cutting noise was my top priority and so far I'm happy.

Cons: Installation was a bit tricky. I (unrealistically) hoped that I could swap out the old heat sink without removing the mobo from my case - you can't. Took some elbow grease to get done, but most of this components are more durable than you'd expect in my experience. For instance, taking out my old heatsink, my cpu refused to come unstuck and pulled up out of the socket while locked in place. No damage done, no pins bent. Cleaned off the old thermal paste and plugged it back in. This unit is large, way bigger than I expected. It just fit in my case, but it does fit and doesn't obstruct anything. I don't have big heatsinks on my RAM - if I did, that might be an issue in the first slot.

Other Thoughts: Seems like a good product, no complaints. I took off the one egg just because of the difficulty of installation, but it's not any worse than any other heatsink I've installed. They're never easy.
