2 out of 5 eggsworthless

Pros: It's cheap, and should be an easy install.

Cons: I couldn't install it when I needed it. The plastic plugs that go through the motherboard did not go all the way through, so the unit would not mount.

Other Thoughts: I did give two eggs because there is a chance it would have fit on a different board, but I've never had this issue with any board and heatsink combo, so it's probably just a poorly designed heatsink or poor quality control.

5 out of 5 eggsShort and Quiet

Pros: This little cooler is a Godesnd. I needed a short cooler to put in my HTPC and this one fits perfectly. It also looks pretty cool and is very quiet.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for its purpose.

Pros: Pretty good little cooler for it's intended purpose. I have no idea what kind of RAM people are using, but I use Ballistix Sport and had no problem with clearance with the 2 closer of the 4 RAM slots being utilized. Fan is very quiet, and is 4-pin. See other thoughts for further comment.

Cons: It is somewhat delicate, but that is to be expected out of an aluminum heat sink.

Other Thoughts: I've used a few Zalman coolers now, and my impression has been such that they are meant to exceed stock coolers, while not being of the caliber of overclocking-performance coolers.

This in mind, I have no idea why anyone who has ever used an aftermarket cooler would think you'd be safe putting this particular unit onto an 8-core processor, much less to overclock said processor on top of that. The guy who claims he melted the cooler to his CPU did both of these things, but it also sounds as if he used thermal ADHESIVE instead of COMPOUND which would also cause such an incident to happen, as adhesive would literally "glue" the cooler to the processor (every manufacturer website I know of out there flat out tells you not to use adhesive for CPU's, especially Arctic). Don't use thermal adhesive on your CPU.

I used Ceramique 2 by Arctic, not because I think it would actually benefit from the more advanced compound, but because I am just anally retentive and wanted to use the best as none of the Zalman's I've ever used, while being superior to all their stock counterparts, have ever had a mirrored surface on the contact point and this particular compound is much thicker in consistency than Silver 5. This was my first time ever using Ceramique, but the cooler has already dropped my idle temp by about 5 degrees and this isn't even 1 cycle into the break in period for the compound.

Also, this has been seated to a non-unlocked, 3.0ghz Deneb-based Athlon 2 X3, and has no issue with moving around as some people have claimed on AM2/AM3 formats. I'm guessing theirs isn't an AM2/AM3 format, primarily based on the fact I've had a couple of computer tech stores try to sell me parts for the older Socket A which is not the same mounting bracket as the AM2/AM3/AM3+ bracket, while arguing with me that it was the same until they took the older Socket A out from their back store stash and compared it side-by-side with an AM2 or AM3.

I hope this rant clears up some confusion out there.

4 out of 5 eggsModularity really helps.

Pros: The cables were pretty long, which in some cases may not be favorable, but is pretty nice in a mATX case. Got this to replace a CX430M. It's heavier, which is nice, means the capacitors and coils are probably more dense. Fan is very quiet. The cables are very flexible, and the connectors went into all the components without a problem. It includes a triple device SATA string; I had to rearrange my SSD's to fit both on the same string with the optical, but that wasn't a problem as it helped make arrangement more tidy anyway. I like that the motherboard and CPU cables are hardwired, more solid connection to both of these power taps.

Cons: I have none. Very good layout for a mATX board, in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: I can see how the cable length can annoy some people with mini-ITX systems. It is configured so that the connectors are right-side-up if the unit is bottom-mounted. My case has a top mount for the PSU, and the 3-device string was long enough so I could actually run the string from top device to bottom device, then wire tie the stem of the string back up along the way to plugging it into the supply.

Specifically, I am using a Cooler Master Elite 341 (discontinued model) and have the 2nd 5.25" bay, the top 3.5" bay and the top HDD tab set, all connected to the 3-device string. Otherwise, I would have had to twist the cable stem to get it to fit and that would have gotten tacky as my optical sits rather deeply into the case and the stem is the longest part of this cable. Hope this visual gives an idea as to the length of the cables.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks Good

Pros: Works Good and fairly quiet

Cons: Does not come with CPU retainer for AMD processors. It mounts on your current bracket. If your is broken you will have to order the retainer separately.

5 out of 5 eggsA shame

Pros: Nice upgrade from stock for lower wattage CPUs

Fan is actually PWM unlike some similar Zalman coolers that come with a fan controller and require you to adjust the fan speed yourself

Not bad looking. Would look decent in a windowed case. No flashy LEDs but that isn't really a con.

Installs on stock AMD brackets very easily. Mine is FM2 and it's a perfect fit right out of the box.

Cools decent within it's stated range.

Fan is very quiet. Can barely hear it when it speeds up a bit

Low profile. Would probably fit in many media center builds without much issue

Cons: All aluminum. Not really sure if I consider it a con since it cools my A6 5400k dual core perfectly.

Bottom plate is not perfectly smooth. Ridges. You need to take some time to apply thermal grease and spread it to make sure you get full coverage. However, once this is done, it doesn't seem to cause a problem unless you go to reuse it and have to try to clean it.

Could conceivably cause issues with your RAM if you have the tall ram sticks. I have four slots and my RAM isn't tall anyway.

Other Thoughts: Really, there's not much that's bad about this cooler for the price. Though it would be nice if it could cool CPUs above 95 watts. Mind is 65 and it seems perfect. I have not seen a temp above 48 even under load. Encoded several files with Handbrake for over 4 hours. CPU stayed at 100% but temp stayed under 50.

RPMs were around 1700 during this time and just audible above my other fans.

Zalman should use PWM in more of their coolers. Their coolers are appealing but the manual fan control really isn't for me.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected :)

Pros: Low Profile - This fits inside my HTPC.
Quiet - It runs at an acceptable db level for the living room.
Omni-directional dissipation - Good for controlled case air-flow

Cons: Not simple to install

Other Thoughts: Like the product overall. It's weird but I like that the fan is a smoke color (clear but tinted).

3 out of 5 eggsgreat but

Pros: works well with socket fm2 but...

Cons: will not fit with gskill trident ram. look for a better aftermarket cooler that will clear it.

Other Thoughts: locks down perfect on the fm2 bracket, but it wont work with high profile ram, and you cant afford to lose a slot when your board only has 2 dimm sockets to begin with.

highly recommended with socket 754, as the ram is single channel on those anyway. losing 1 dimm is no big deal on s754.

would not buy for another fm2 system unless AMD came out with a 'super' atx board like certan am3+ boards that was meant to occomodate monster coolers.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat value

Pros: bought this hoping it will cool my a6 5400k better than stock AMD cooler by one or two degrees. not expecting a huge improvement, but in this unairconditioned room, ANY improvement will be a big help.

always liked zalman coolers, hopefully this will fit the role I need.

Cons: dunno if its gonna work or not from reading the reviews

Other Thoughts: right now my rig hits 59c under heavy load with the stock cooler, I'm hoping this thing will bring that down to around 57 at least.
have used zalman coolers in the past, with great success, saw it was only $9 and decided to see if it helps any. will post again once it gets here and I run a few days for the AS Ceramique to set properly.
