5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Very small and light
Beautiful
Cool
Only audible if you bring your ear 1 foot away.
Max fan speed is not a distraction.
Very efficient use of a single bracket

Cons: There is lots of space under the heatsink for more fins.
Single bracket means a more complicated assembly.

Other Thoughts: People must be glueing on the heatsink with thermal paste to get such horrible results. I get 32C idle and 53C load on prime 95.

i5-4460 84w
MX-4 thermal paste
Asus H97I-PLUS

4 out of 5 eggsGreat heat sink

Pros: It does an outstanding job disapating the heat from my i5-4670 CPU and keeps the 32-38C typically. I've seen it get as high as 40-50C under heavy load but nothing higher than that so far.

I'm using a very small form factor case considering (silverstone sst-ml07b) with a gtx 980 packed inside and this thing stays cool. I do have a 120mm fan directly above it giving it a constant flow of air.

It also looks really nice. The only reason I got it tbh was so I could emulate the steambox valve made as best I could, so I got almost identical components to what Valve used (this heatsink included).

Cons: Mounting this was more trouble then I could have imagined. Thankfully two of my friends said they would help me build my pc, and I needed both of them just to mount this thing. The instructions were not clear and even after we decifered what it was saying, two pairs of hands wasn't enough to get it done. I have no idea what kind of pain a single person would go through while mounting this thing to their motherboard.

Also the thermal grease they offer isn't particular good from what I hear.

Other Thoughts: Buy your own synthetic thermal paste for this thing. It does a pretty good job cooling, but the included thermal grease won't be sufficient in my opinion.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -looks neat
-really quiet, even at full speed

Cons: -can not dissipate heat from a moderately powerful CPU. I used this with an AMD A10 APU and in an open case the steady temperature was 70 degrees C while sitting in BIOS. I would hate to see what it would be if i actually did something.
-putting the back bracket on is a little bit of a pain but if you are not a complete idiot you should be able to follow the directions without much issue. the double sided tape is there to keep it in place but it becomes a permanent fixture of the motherboard even if you decide not to use it. my motherboard now has foamy tape on it forever which i am not thrilled about.

Other Thoughts: zalman can't be entirely to blame for my review. newegg does not indicate what zalman puts on their website and that is that this cooler MUST also have a 120mm fan to go with it (i am assuming case fan, it does not specify). if newegg would post this i would not have bought it and not have written this poor review

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Mounting Bracket

Pros: -Made by Zalman
-Low profile and solid design

Cons: -Worst mounting bracket imaginable
-Insufficient cooling
-Extremely hard to replace if you choose to do so

Other Thoughts: I got this for a computer a friend commissioned me to build for him. We decided to run a AMD A10-7850K Kaveri, a processor that generates a considerable amount of heat. I knew the stock cooler wouldn't be enough and I was concerned with 1. Cooler compatibility with the FM2 socket, and 2. limited space inside his case. I ultimately opted to go for this cooler because I believed it had everything we were looking for.

If I had only known.

When it was finally time during the build to install the CPU cooler we took this thing out of the box and spent a good ten minutes trying to figure out the instructions and another ten to fifteen minutes to actually install the bracket on the motherboard. This mounting bracket is so convoluted I swear it was invented by an engineer that was so bored with his job that he decided to design something that would make the end users to suffer. The mounting process requires removing the original bracket, and using double-sided tape (yes, that's right; TAPE) to affix part of the new bracket on the back of the motherboard. After you have the new bracket taped in you have to install these spacers and inside these spacers have to go the bases for the screws (that secure the cooler itself) to screw into. This whole process took THREE people to do, two more than it should have. After we got the bracket in we finally managed to get the actual cooler tightened down and ready to go. We finished the rest of the build and sent the computer home with my friend.

After a few days my friend began reporting to me that his processor was running hot according to the BIOS temps. It was running around 50-60 degrees Celsius idle and would sometimes climb up to around 80+ under load (he was playing Civ. 5). I told him to turn it off and not to use it until we got another cooler.

We ordered a new cooler and when he got it in I took his motherboard out to install it. This is where the fun really began. The cooler itself actually came off easily but then I also had to remove the bracket to re-install the stock bracket which the new cooler used.

Remember the double sided tape? Well by now it had been fused onto the motherboard and I had to very, very, carefully pry off the bracket off with a small screwdriver. After I did get it off there was all of this residue and gunk from the tape on the motherboard which I again had to carefully clean off with paper towels and my fingernail. All-in-all we did get the new cooler installed but we should have just bought the new one in the beginning.

Here is our replacement which will indeed work with any FM2/AM3 processors and does an excellent job of keeping things cool. I HIGHLY recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223

1 out of 5 eggsDissappointed

Pros: All copper low profile design.

Cons: This thing doesn't support Socket 1150 like Newegg and other retailers claim. The screw pattern for the four anchor screws fits but there is no threaded hole to secure the third screw needed to anchor the latch that firmly secures your processor to the socket. The box clearly does not list Socket 1150. This is just retailers lying to clear out old stock. Thanks for the hassle.

1 out of 5 eggsWasted time and money

Pros: It looks cool

Cons: Well, there were a few. So, first of all, the instructions are confusing, and there don't seem to be any tutorials online, but I was able to figure this out, second, the little screw/bolt things that go from the back plate and into the motherboard aren't even really screws, they just sit there, had to tape them on to start trying to apply the cooler since they just fall out of the back plate when you lay it flat, then after trying to put in the cooler, it turns out, the bolts aren't even long enough to reach the back plate from the front side of the motherboard, and lastly, in trying to remove the cooler, the sticky white thing (not sure what to call it) the keeps the back plate intact with the motherboard would not come off, it took almost 30 minutes to scrape it all off carefully, without scratching the motherboard, and I actually could not get it all off, I was just able to get enough off to put my old cooler/back plate on over it. So overall, a terrible experience, and I could not be any less pleased with a product. And I guess it is possible I got faulty parts, however I don't think that's accurate.

5 out of 5 eggs1u No Problem for this little guy.

Pros: If you need a fan for a tight space this is it I have it running in a 1u server keeping an Intel 4670 cpu nice and cool. There is about 1/8 if inch to spare .

Cons: Bottom plate needs to be a little thinner.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -fits m350 case with ssd bracket
-relatively quiet

Cons: -lowest RPM setting on high end
-not much meat in the heatsink - high CPU usage causes high RPMs
-flat surface (touching CPU) shows marks, expected better finish, little unexpected.

Other Thoughts: initially installed stock cooler in m350 with i5 65W CPU.
it was noiseless on low setting, could not hear fan 5 inches away.

But - could not mount ssd bracket with stock cooler, so got this cooler.

It fits the case, no issues. But, probably due to rather high RPM in lowest setting, fan noise is there. Not a lot, but there, especially comparing to dead-quiet stock cooler.

Anyway, to make long story short - this is good-enough solution when you don't need to run your CPU at 100% 24/7. As soon as you load CPU - fan will go high RPMs, since there is no much copper in the heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggsNot all Copper

Pros: Reasonably quiet if you have software to turn the speed way down.

Cons: Doesn't cool any better than the stock Intel unit.

Other Thoughts: Unless you can justify needing additional cooling performance just stay with stock.
