Zalman's ZM-NB47J is a fully adjustable Northbridge heatsink. It comes with 2 springs. Because the links aren't permanently attached you can adjust them so that the heatsink fits onto the motherboard with maximum clearance.

The 37mm square unit is 47mm high with a plethora of pins placed perfectly to provide a large amount of surface area to dissipate heat. This makes a fan unnecessary, giving you all the peace (or maybe war) and quiet you need. Zalman's ZM-NB47J is a cool customer to keep your case from cookin'!

Silent and Effective

Pros: Lowered temps by about 8 degrees celcius.

Installation so easy "a caveman could do it."

Nice tidy footprint.

Got rid of my very noisy fan that was on its last leg.

Newegg delivered in two days, no problem.

Cons: As with replacing a cpu heatsink, it takes a couple weeks for thermal paste to "set," so don't expect lower temps immediately.

Consider tall profile before purchasing-- depending on where you intend to put it and what may be over that area (side panel fan, extra long graphics card, etc.).

Not for mobos with anchors for hooks around chipset. Designed only for chipsets with plastic "push-through" anchors with springs (comes with 4 in pkg).

Other Thoughts: when assembling for installation, go ahead and loosely screw (less than hand-tight) the small anchors onto the heatsink. Don't apply paste to heatsink or chipset yet. set on chipset as if installing and carefully tighten the anchors after eyeballing where they need to be. loosen slightly to make small adjustments and tighten again. Instructions are down and dirty and don't include these kind of remarks. Made install very very easy.

Good cooler

Pros: Have had for over a year on my a8n sli deluxe board cooling a athlon 3200@ 2700. Keeps temps down very well.

Cons: I just installed a 8800gts 320mb card into my rig and the zalman cooler was too big and in the way. I ended up sawing half the metal fins off at the base and the 8800gts fit right in. Temps are still the same! Saved me some money because I didn't have to buy a new cooler.

Other Thoughts: Cant beat that price.

Great little heatsink

Pros: silent, keeps cpu temps well below what the puny fan/heatsink that came with the processor could do. it idles around 36C and i've never seen it go above 45C under load

Cons: getting the little bracket things aligned can be somewhat of a nuisance, but nothing worth marking off an egg for.

Other Thoughts: got this to replace a noisy heatsink/fan contraption that came on an 800mhz via c3. now my system is mouse-fart quiet.

Pros: Amazing little gizmo. impressed with the installation. all in all, good buy.

Cons: its pretty big and doesn't have a fan on it, but i bought a 20mm and fastened it in between the fins. Works good now.

Other Thoughts: those of you who have limited MB space should consider something shorter. It had some trouble fitting beside the CPU cooler and SLI cards. But with a little patience and know how, it'll work on anything... almost.

Helped alot

Pros: I bought this to replace the sorry excuse for a heat sinc that was on my south bridge on my Intel mobo. Once I replaced it with this, my temps went from 80C to about 50C and the thermal paste hasn't even set yet. So I am expecting another degree or two out of this.

Cons: I ended up having to cut it down a bit because it interfered with my graphics card. (gotta love dremel)

Other Thoughts: I really wish intel would put better heat sincs on their mobos; a quarter would have probably worked better than the heat sinc on the south bridge that came with the board.
