Pros: Adequate cooling

Cons: Bought 3 total, 1st for me and other 2 for friends because they liked the design and its compact size. Here are the cons:
- Sharp fins may cut your hands during installing
- Terrible metal bracket lack of tension which only uses 2 screws to hold down the HSF
- Heat pipes poorly contact with copper plate
- All 3 HSF are tilted which result in the fan blowing air upward about 15 degree
- Won't help if you overclock

Other Thoughts: I really like this design but I don't recommend it. Anyone gave more than 3 eggs for this HSF gotta be working for Zalman or just didn't know better. If you plan to OC and on a budget, I suggest the Hyper 212 evo. It's bigger than this one but it will cool much better.

2 out of 5 eggswrestling match

Pros: the cooler works very well and keeps the cpu cool even when running skyrim on high settings. that is after you actually get the dang thing on.

Cons: this cooler is the biggest mission to put back on!!!! after having problems with it the first time but managing to evetually (after about an hour) get it on, it ran beautifully for 3 years until today when I received my new processor I had to take it off to obviously put the new one on, and again I've been at it for about 30 minutes now by myself and I am having to practically bend my motherboard to get it on. so unless you enjoy wrestling cooling fans I would not but again.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy for LGA 1150

Pros: It looked nice in the box.

Cons: The amount of pressure this will put on your motherboard is unacceptable. This is a faulty design for socket LGA 1150 and I would highly recommend you DO NOT buy it and try to make it work for you. I have a high degree of computer building knowledge and have built many machines and this product can damage your motherboard.

Please adhere my advice. Find something else for LGA 1150.

The instructions are not horrible as some have said, but the actual pressure required for the screws to mount on the brackets is a product defect.

Other Thoughts: Might cause damage to your processor too and bend pins. I will write an update to this review very soon when I know more. I am not pleased to say the least.

1 out of 5 eggsBad choice for me

Pros: Nice design; copper fins and heat pipes. One star only due to problems I note in the "Cons:" If not for that it would get Five Stars.

Cons: Bad news if you are upgrading or building a new machine for LGA 1151 - Z170 mother board design. The socket is surrounded by vertical capacitors. This fan/heat sink has a spring bracket cross-piece the attaches to the plastic motherboard bracket. The two hold-down bolts supplied are far too long and ruined 4 of these capacitors. My new MSI motherboard is now useless. MSI is doing an exchange for a small fee which is a kudos for them. I plan to go to my parts box and find a couple of the correct length.

Other Thoughts: Purchase this product with my above Con comments in mind.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install for AMD-FX6300

Pros: * On a heavy load system, it cuts 10C. It used to be about 60C with noisy stock fan. Now it's about 50C with low noise.
* Very easy to install on my AMD-FX6300 (AM3+ socket)

Cons: * Doesn't have PWM control on the fan. The fan is adjustable manually, which is fine for my needs.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected

Pros: Kept my cpu cool at around 30 deg C. That was about 20 degrees cooler than the stock fan. I have to add that it did look awesome although no one would have seen it in the case I have.

Cons: Mounting it to the cpu became an ordeal. The screws that hold the cooler to the mounting bracket were to short. I got one screw in 4 or 5 threads but when I put pressure on the arm to get the other screw in the threaded one popped out stripping the end. I replaced both screws and was able to mount the cooler.
The killer was the cooler height. When I went to install my dvd drive it ran into the cooler fins. I needed a 1/4 inch to make it fit even with a 90 degree sata connector.
I ended up returning it. If I had a larger case ( I have a SilverStone Grandia GD09B case) I may have kept it as it did keep things cool.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: I bought this June 05, 2008, It is now Aug. 18, 2015. It's still going, it is still extremely quiet and I have never oiled or attempted to oil it a single time. It still cools like the day I bought it and has been extremely reliable. I recently sold the PC it was attached to, to a friend. I miss it daily when I look into my side panel.

Cons: I couldn't keep it forever...

Other Thoughts: One day I hope to get another, but I'm not sure if my heart is ready to replace it. Goodbye old friend...

1 out of 5 eggs100% not buying again

Pros: Keep my CPU in check but significantly cool

Cons: The fan is lousy, not quiet at all.
The box said this the fan of this cooling is ultra quiet, but it was not.
One more big thing, my rebate didn't get approve. Although, I sent every paperwork they needed, they still said I didn't send the receipt of the purchase. What a rip off.

Other Thoughts: By they way, I did email the support team of Zalman, but they didn't response to my email at all.

3 out of 5 eggsChallenging installation

Pros: Very nice appearance, good price (especially if rebate arrives), nice build quality (with noted exceptions)

Cons: Very challenging installation, could use design improvements.

Other Thoughts: Installing the unit brought ambiguity in the manual to light. The manual doesn't describe the orientation in a clear way, you have to go by the slightly rounder and slightly squarer edges of the copper fins. A simple note on the diagram indicating which end the fan is at would take away the guess work. That or an airflow indication arrow on the fan housing itself.

The biggest issue I experienced with the metal nuts in the black plastic ring. They are installed with a compression fit. Inserting the short, golden screw somehow pushed the nut down and the screw threads could never engage to tighten the Intel clip. I ended up having to use the other two screw holes, which were harder to reach with the screwdriver to install the clip perpendicular to the air flow.

It was that, or removing the plastic ring from the motherboard completely to fix the isue with the nut. I chose not to do that because the thermal grease had formed a good bond between the cooler and the CPU.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great looking fan, matched my blue theme. Took idling and stressed temps down by 10C across the board, so does a decent job. Runs very quiet, even at top speeds.

Cons: Fins are a little sharp but be careful and you'll be fine.
