5 out of 5 eggsZalman CNPS9500A-LED

Pros: Third time I've bought this. Never been disappointed. My only choice for aftermarket air cooling. It comes with a controller as well. LED on the fan.

Cons: Directions are changed somewhat from last purchase. If I didn't know better, I would have had to do some Googling to determine which way the air flowed with the fan. (Fan pushes air through by default, not pull). Copper blades will cut you if you're not careful. Still a bit of a pain to install, but that's mostly because I have large hands.

Other Thoughts: I will only buy two aftermarket coolers. This one for air cooling, and a Corsair H100i for water. And you will have to pump some serious juice to your CPU for this to not meet your cooling needs.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Fan!

Pros: This fan was easy to install and keeps my CPU nice and cold, whether at stock speed or overclocked. I've used Zalman coolers since the Pentium-2 days. Despite trying other CPU coolers, these are reliable, stable, and definitely superior in my opinion to others out there.

Cons: Make sure you carefully read the installation instructions. Most of these coolers are universal (they can work with multiple configurations) and include hardware to make that happen. The instructions are clear and easy to understand, just be sure you understand the CPU socket you're using.

Other Thoughts: Heat is a big concern if you're overclocking. Unless you're looking to increase your CPU speed 150%, this cooler is amazing and will tackle quite a bit before getting reaching that hot point.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: 1. Easy to install
2. Good design
3. Comes with thermal paste packet

Cons: 1. Doesn't come with mounting bracket for AMD processors. Our plastic clip on board broke off. Good thing I had a spare from an older system build.
2. Directions don't tell which way the air will flow on board. Installed in incorrect direction but not such a big deal as is Airflow direction should be clearly illustrated in directions or have an arrow on copper part or something of that nature...
3. Cheapo fan speed adjuster. I just hooked to board instead of installing this gimmicky thing. The dial wasn't in the correct orientation either... I'll stick to the motherboard for fan speed OR use a controller module that tells speed of fans and have controls that way. Would also indicate temperature also...

Other Thoughts: Good price and would recommend. But personally I would stick to some more expensive ones as this was for a customer. Great cooling though.

5 out of 5 eggsBest one out there

Pros: This is 2nd one that I bought. LOVE it. Best air cooled out there. DON'T buy anything bigger than this. Running AMD 6-core at Idle 11C, at 100% CPU at 51C

Cons: NONE, recommend to everyone.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler for a low heat CPU

Pros: This is a great aftermarket cpu/heatsink and it works, if you have the right system. I've a AMD FX 8350 and it runs hot being 125 watts. For those of you with this CPU, this heatsink doesn't work so great in it and it was still overheating over the safe temp for this processor in high intensive task like playing games. I had to return it and get a better cooling heatsink/fan

Cons: not good for 125 watt processors (amd fx 8350)

Other Thoughts: A lot of people complain about being hard to install and after reading all of the reviews I was even scared of buying this, really stop. This is my first computer built ever and I've had no experience with aftermarket heatsink/fans. This is not the easiest thing to install, however is not impossible like some poeple claim. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME and THINK about the process, it took me about 30 minutes of really planning the installation. If I did it anyone can!

2 out of 5 eggsFunctional-ish

Pros: Decent idle temps, decent active temps

Cons: Well if you are a patient man/woman who just loves the design pick this up if not I would suggest look elsewhere. I can't promote this cooler well as mine was full of issues. First the external "controller" came broken which I figured whatever because I had no plans to use it but I should have returned it right after I saw that. The guidebook is horrid doesn't provide much assistance on installing, which let me tell you all the "it's difficult to install" reviews are spot on, this thing does not go in easy on AMD I even managed to cut myself on the flaps which this is the sixth cpu fan I had put into systems in the past year only one I've had problems with. 2 eggs as after installing it was better than a stock AMD but that's not really hard.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct is good, manufacturer is horrible.

Pros: Fan speed control knob is nice for easy access, keeps CPU cool, very quiet (for the time being...), easy installation and instructions.

Cons: Started making horribly loud grinding noises after 9-10 months. I suspect the bearings used in the fan are pretty cheap. I took it out and replaced it with my stock Intel heatsink and sent in an RMA to Zalman. It said it would take up to 48 hours for a reply, fair enough. So I waited. 2 weeks later and still no reply. Sent another, no reply a month later.

Other Thoughts: BUYER BEWARE: Zalman's customer support is practically non-existent. I am thoroughly convinced Zalman is run by robots. I sent 3 different emails to them for an RMA over the course of 3 months and I am still yet to receive a reply. I did a quick Google search on them and apparently a lot of other people have had this problem with Zalman.
You would think that a company that charges so much for their products and makes them very well would be able to afford SOME kind of customer service. I'm very disappointed and do not plan on buying any Zalman products again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,

We sincerely apologize for the issue. Please contact our customer service e-mail or via toll free number 1-888-925-6266 for further assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Zalman USA Customer Service

5 out of 5 eggsLasts years. Not very quiet.

Pros: I bought this fan to replace the identical one I've had in my computer since 2005. This beauty lasted until now. I'm hoping to get another 8-10 years out of this one. I love the fact that it glows blue and matches the rest of my case fans. Makes my computer light up.

Cons: Bulky.
Not quiet.
Excellent dust trap.
Very difficult to clean, even with half a can of air.

Other Thoughts: The first one lasted 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. Even with the noticeable noise level, I'm replacing it with AN IDENTICAL ONE. I wouldn't have it any other way.

4 out of 5 eggsgood cooler

Pros: Great cooling, adjustable speed overal great cooler would give it 5 eggs based on performance. Cheap

Cons: alright now like I said it performs great. However my motherboard requires an adaptor piece wich was provided and it was garbage. It does not fit correctly due to poor craftsmanship. Therd was a piece of extra metal protruding from the side like a thorn witch cut my thumb when I picked it up. Also the hole for the adaptor was not tall enough and required extensive force to apply the cooler to my board. And to remove I had to use a flat head screwdriver to detacth it.

Other Thoughts: I understand not everything is going to be perfect. The cooler worka amazingly its great. The adapter is a cheap peice of metal and im greatful the company included it sobi could use the cooler at all. Ill fix it with a grinding wheel and hand tool when I get my mobo replacement.

5 out of 5 eggs8 years old and still kicking

Pros: Bought this cooler back in 2006 for my AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ kept it at 40* under full load with the cpu overclocked. Originally wasn't compatible with AM2 sockets, only had the Intel 775 bracket and AMD 754/939/940 screw in style , Zalman was awesome and sent me the AM2 style bracket for free back in 2009! I put this cooler in a system that I built for a friend back in 2011 and he still has this cooler on his cpu to this day.

Cons: Wasn't free
