4 out of 5 eggsGreat product - need longer mounting screws

Pros: It's quiet and is really cool looking. As long as you have enough room this is a really good fan and is VERY VERY QUIET.

Cons: Like some have commented already, I had a hard time mounting this using the tiny little screws they gave me. I had to get some new M3-size screws to get the fan to screw down securely, since the mount is really a spring-mounted metal bracket. Once you have the new screws it works fine. The instructions are also very poor and not as explicit as you might think.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler

Pros: Quiet
Exotic looking
Very efficient comparing to stock AMD
The fins are wide apart, which should help against gathering dust and clogging

Cons: Expensive

Other Thoughts: Very nice cooler! Very quiet. I messed up the rebate submission though so it came up somewhat expensive. Keeps my overclocked Phenom X6 5C-10C cooler than stock.

1 out of 5 eggsgood cooler bad support

Pros: great cooler i bought two of them.
orients any of 4 ways
fan mate

Cons: 1 of them was great the other one the bottom bracket only 2 holes matched my 1150 socket.

Emailed zalman 2 times with all info trying to get a bottom bracket that fit. The one looks like it is for an older socket as the one that fit the holes were longer in the bracket.

No reply from zalman over a 2 week period so when they leave their email on here in reply to others comments disregard it because they will never email you back and for some we don't have time to call them. I used the email addy they posted here and sent copy of receipt with it and i also used the web form on the support site. So as long as you dont have to contact them it is all good but their support is the worse i have ever seen. I even offered to buy the support i needed now my i7 4790k will be here moday and i will have to use the stock cooler. WONT BUY FROM zalman again and i have bought at least 30 of their coolers for builds for me and others.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent fan that keeps an i7 cool

Pros: I'm running an i7 4790 which is a 3.6 ghz quad core which can turbo to 4ghz when needed, i typically just play games like BF4 and Skyrim. Its usually running at 48-55 Celsius with this fan running at a very quiet 1800 RPMs which i would say is about 35% its max speed. I also was convinced it would look horrible on my black and red msi mobo, it actually looks pretty cool especially when you look into the case in a dim lit room (don't get this confused with a red LED build, i have this and another blue LED in the front)

Cons: The fan controller cant go outside the case? Thats the only thing i wish was different but honestly is that even possible besides having software that can do it? (Not bad enough to dock an egg)

4 out of 5 eggsIt is great cooler for the money

Pros: Amazing cooling.
Sturdy fan.

Cons: Noise is a bit high when fan is above 80%
Requires a manual control switch for fan speed.

Other Thoughts: I got this when it was on sale and had a rebate so it was extremely cheap. Not sure i would buy this cooler otherwise. At full price there are better fans for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsBest heatsink/fan I have ever purchased

Pros: Keeps everything extremely cool

Some see as a con, but I like how it has a fan speed adjuster.

Blue LED is a nice touch

Design is really well thought out, you can tell whoever engineered it put some thought into it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: At idle, my AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (6 core) never gets above 13C. I did use Artic Silver thermal compound, but even under stress tests this thing kept my processor under 30C.

I am blown away. I have only seen these temps on water cooled CPU units.

I can understand why people said this is hard to install. After spending 10 minutes trying to figure it out, I can assure you all it can be installed with the fan facing ALL 4 directions.

The reason its hard to get the fan to send air out the back is the way the heat pipes are. The metal bracket (for AMD CPUs at least) has to go through the sides of the metal heat pipes.

The best way to figure that bracket out and how it goes through the heat pipes is to really visualize how it will work. Hold the metal bracket on the bottom where the flat copper area meats the CPU casing. You HAVE to visualize how the metal bracket curves, there is only one way to slip it through the heat pipes.

Regardless of this taking a bit longer than usual to install, the proof is in the temps. Don't listen to anyone why says otherwise. Maybe they didn't install thermal compound right, maybe they rubbed it on with their fingers, maybe they did not prime both the heat sink and CPU.

Don't apply thermal paste with your finger. Use a credit card.

Before applying thermal paste, prime both the flat copper area on the heat sink and the top of the CPU. Do this by applying and spreading a dot with a credit card. Now, wipe it all off. What this does is fills the microscopic crevices in both the heatsink and CPU metal surfaces.

After that, apply a dot and let the pressure of the heatsink spread the thermal compound on the CPU. This is the best way to apply thermal paste on CPUs with an IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader). Google it if you don't understand.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooler

Pros: Excellent cooling, overclocking ability

Cons: Loud at full fan speed, need to replace entire component if fan fails

Other Thoughts: I added this cooler to my Phenom 1045t and I am impressed by the difference it made from stock HSF. As a first time overclocker, I was able to easily push my cpu to 3.4ghz with 45c on full load. I am very happy with this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit with lga1150

Pros: N/A

Cons: Even though the specs stated that it would fit a LGA 1150 Socket, it does not. Even the documentation in the instructions and on the packaging does not list this unit as being compatible with the LGA 1150. I know it can't be a problem with my motherboard because the The stock fan supplied with the Intel Core I7 4770K fits perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggszalman 9500

Pros: Good airflow
can face any of 4 directions
Install is easy on any number of sockets
Has fan mate if you want to use it

Cons: Should have a 4 pin connector so you could control it thru motherboard

Other Thoughts: I have a few of these. This on i bought to go on a gigabyte Z97 motherboard and installing the bracket was easy just make sure you orient it right for the CPU lever in case you want to change CPU at a later date.
I read the reviews from the people putting it on a 1150 or 1155 socket and some mentioned longer screws and i almost went out and bought some before the cooler came.
I didn't because i wanted to see if the screws that came with it were long enough. I positioned mine to blow up towards the top of case where i had room for 2 x 120mm fans. I put a 120mm fan in the front hole and left the back one empty so this would have a straight path out of the case and i like going up because heat rises. I put the screw towards the front of the case first and only turned it 1 turn then started the threads on the second screw towards the back of the case. It took a little pressure but i have installed enough coolers to know when it would be to much and this was about right. Then i tightened each screw by 1 turn until they were tight. Was a breeze not as easy as a AM# socket but wasn't as bad as the stories by others indicate.
