1 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler, Terrible Company

Pros: This cooler worked extremely well and lowered the temps of the cpu much lower than stock temps.

Cons: I was going to transfer this cooler over to my new FM2+ AMD, but I lost the AMD mounting kit years ago. So I contacted Zalman for an out of warranty replacement. They sent me an invoice via Paypal which I paid.
From that point forward a week went by with no contact from them and no part received. So I called them (it took me about 50 phone calls at various times of the day to get an answer on the phone) and asked them what the tracking number was on the package. The guy on the phone said he would ship another part, but still didn't give me any tracking number.
So now it's been over two weeks and I still don't have a part. I checked the better business bureau and there's an identical case to mine from three months ago where someone ordered a mounting kit and it just never arrived. The only conclusion I can draw is that the part was not shipped in either case and that Zalman is committing fraud.

Other Thoughts: Since Zalman has chosen to keep my money and not ship me the mounting kit that I paid for, my expensive copper cooler is now an expensive copper paperweight. I will NEVER spend money with Zalman in the future.

4 out of 5 eggsAdd my "Thumbs Up" to the pile

Pros: Time proven design, great looks, nice lightshow

Cons: No PWM

Other Thoughts: There's about 2500 reviews of this cooler on Newegg; I hardly think mine matters, but here goes.
Typical Newegg purchase process, fast shipping, received in good condition. I put it into my PC on a Saturday afternoon, and didn't even get out of my bathrobe to do it.
No cuts, no nicks, no blood loss; I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess.
No problems test-fitting and securing it to my motherboard, as there was adequate space to work on it. The AMD clips worked fine for me, and the connection is secure. It's about 100 gm. heavier than the board specs, but I don't intend to bring it on a roller coaster ride anytime soon, so there you go.
No major temperature changes, but the PC was already running pretty cool in the first place. I bought it mostly for the look of it, and didn't even bother with the external speed regulator. I rarely see 35° C at full bore and it idles at 16° within a few minutes of start-up. Spinning at 2596 RPM's constantly and I barely notice the fan noise. The blue LED fan contrasts nicely with the couple of red chassis fans and compliments the blue LED of the PSU.
Overall, a nice experience purchasing, installing and enjoying the cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsnot great with 125W+ CPu

Pros: it works and will keep a AMD 8350 at around 40c at idle
as long as you dont OC the thing

Cons: It is loud as heck, not PMW, kind of a pain to mount vertical. and it blocks the use of ram coolers and really tall ram.

Other Thoughts: I wouldnt use on anything above a 95 watt CPU tbh. it will just be to loud to be worth it. I have used it for 4 years now and until I got the 125watt cpu it worked great, I will use it in the kids computer but I had to get a120mm for the hotter cpu

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Cooler

Pros: Keep your temps down. I have an AMD FX-8350 and I am idling at 6-9 C under highest recorded temp so far has been 48 C on a load streaming BF4, (encoding on cpu).

Cons: At 100% this thing is loud. In my last build I had an Arctic Cooler x64 Pro and this thing is at least 5x louder. I have no fan speed controller but it does come with an inline so I'll probably add that but Im not a fan of using a controller.

Install. The vertical AM3+ install was not pretty. You have to shove a bar between the pipes the skinny way then twist into place. That is fine but the fins are in the way! I bent my last fin on one side getting it in but was able to correct the bend.

Other Thoughts: - Install is super weird but at least they dont load it up with pre-applied thermal paste. My package was missing the paste so luckily I had some laying around.

TL;DR - It works, but is loud and a pain to install.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Plenty of fins
Not terribly bulky
Very simple to install
Able to set fan speed

Cons: Nothing of note

Other Thoughts: May or may not have needed this product (I don't overclock my system) but installation was very simple and CPU temp remains stable and low

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't get any better than this!

Pros: This is the first time I've ever used an aftermarket cooler. One of the best decisions I've made on my build. Using an 1155, it was surprisingly easy to install. I looked at the directions for a min, used the smaller metal bracket for the Intel 1155, and presto! Made my idle go from 33-35 C to 29-31 C. Under 100% load, went from 63 C to only 47 C max! The height of this thing is shorter than most, so that is a plus for me.

Cons: It is a little different having an external fan controller for your CPU fan, rather than PWM control from your MB. I think the customization idea of it is starting to grow on me though, so not really a con, but i can see where it might be for some. However the fan at max speed definitely gets louder than your typical stock fan running at full speed, but if you have a movie loud or wear headphones, shouldn't be a problem. Plus you can still adjust it to make it more quiet with the controller, but the question is, where do you put the controller? I also noticed that with the MB I have, the plastic support adapter was maybe only sitting 1mm above the capacitors next to the CPU. It still didn't touch, but almost made me sweat! Still giving it 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I did want to make mention that after securing the plastic support adapter to your MB, and after setting the cooler in place, a lot of people seemed to have trouble screwing in the metal bracket to the plastic adapter. The issue was that when you have one side "set", the other side was way too high. But after installing it, it's not as bad as it seems. When I put the first screw in, I threaded 2 threads in, then put the screw into the other side, then did that back and forth til it was snug. You do have to put some pressure on the metal bracket to get the second screw in, but barely threading the first screw in is the trick.
Set up: (the parts that matter for clearance/use info)
CPU - Intel i5 3470 LGA 1155
MB - Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3
DIMMs - 16 GB G.SKILL Trident X
Case - Antec 900 USB 3.0
Thermal Compound - Arctic Silver 5

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy install. Works fine. Cooled down pc by about 10-15C under load. I also installed with a 120mm fan so that probably helped. Took 3 days to ship.

Cons: Metal is sharp.

Other Thoughts: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3
AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3
Nvidia GTX 460 768MB OC

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Easy install. Great look. Long, good-looking, power connection. Great airflow, and not super-tall.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Got it for a high-end gaming rig (with no liquid cooling). Installed with no problems at all on the first try. Zalman makes a great product. I'd highly recommend this cooler.
