3 out of 5 eggssolid but loud

Pros: moves a lot of air

Cons: so loud, the loudest thing in my SFF case

Other Thoughts: I have since stopped using this fan because it is so loud. However I have kept the mounting brackets because if I need a similar solution in the future they would work out perfectly

5 out of 5 eggsIt will work for some things..

Pros: This fan dose run solid but it will not fit in my HDD bay on my dragon rider case.It is made to fit the 5.25 drive bay above the hard drive and send cool air down on the drive from above it.In most or all new high performance pc cases this is closed off with metal and the air can not even hit the drive you are trying to cool. (BUT)......
This will work as a super fan to cool a fan controller in the 5.25 bay in your pc.This is what I ended up useing it for and it is perfect for this job.I have a black sunbeam extreme 6 channel 30wt per channel fan controller and they do put out some heat. The fan will move alot of air and it dose need to be on a fan controller also to keep the sound it can make at 100% down.If you do need to run it on 100% you can besure it will move alot of air.I did not send it back when it came because I new I would have a use for a fan this cool in one of my systems someday.
I ordered the xigmatek HDD cooler that dose fit and dose a super job cooling my drive.

Cons: It will not fit the HDD bay.It fits the 5.25 bay where the optical drive is and this is the only bay in new high performance pc cases this is going to fit.
This was not a con for me it ended up being the best fan to cool my fan controller I could have ever found. So 5 eggs from me but this may upset others ordering this to fit the HDD bay....5.25 bay only.........................

Other Thoughts: I ordered the zigmatek HDD cooler and it worked out perfect for me.It mounts right on the drive and dose a super solid job keeping it cool.I have 10 120mm zigmatek case fans in my InWin dragon rider pc case and 2 120mm cooler master blade master fans on my hyper 212+ cpu cooler so I have good air flow in my case but you can never have to much ram to much cpu performance or to much air flow in you case.I have found out over the years of building and running my gaming pc's that super cooling is one of the most important things you will ever have in your system. So add all the fans you can and crank it up.....

5 out of 5 eggsexpanding cooling options

Pros: * a 120mm (replaceable) fan with brackets that can fit in 'most' 5.25" bay drives.
* Comes with a pass thru molex connector which is perfect for modifying OEM pc's with limited expansion use

Cons: * would be nice if you could just buy the brackets

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to create a cooling solution in an HP 5750 desktop turned into Small Business file server (windows 7).
We fitted the bottom 5.25" bay with a dual 2.5" hdd back plane running 2 x western digital veloci raptor 10k hdds. I was worried about heat building up so we removed the top dvd rom and inserted the evercool fan. Since it was an oem case, I could not get a perfect mount, but was able to "rig" it in with no noticed vibrations. Fan pushing the air down and the included CPU fan exhaust the air out the front of the pc.

Been running this since Jan of 2011 and everything seems to be working just fine.

Feel free to gmail my nickname with questions or comments.

2 out of 5 eggsWill not fit in my hdd bays

Pros: It may cool your optical drive some and this is the only bay in your pc case this is going to fit. It is well made and dose seem solid but I have not used it to tell anyone how it runs. I went with a xigmatek hdd cooler from newegg and it work perfect.

Cons: Will not fit in the hdd bay on any pc case I have ever had and I have had alot.

Other Thoughts: It will fit in the optical drive bay and may cool it down some..This is listed wrong it will not fit your in hdd bay.. Get the xigmatek hdd cooler it fits on your drive and works perfect..I should have sent this back but I may want to cool a optical drive one day...

1 out of 5 eggsAmateur design

Pros: very rigid, solidly built

Cons: about 60% too much metal (therefore, price), poor fit in drive bay

Other Thoughts: The metal is so thick/sturdy, there is no need for the device to completely surround the edges of the fan and attach with 8 screws. The rails could be cut in half lengthwise to create 2 separate fan holders.

The rails extend past the fan approx 1/2" at both ends. Why? Pointless. This prevents my CM Stacker bay covers from attaching - by a long shot - not a minor amount that could be filed down (hack-sawed off, yes). Further, with a couple more holes drilled in the rails in the proper locations, the device could be mounted vertically (behind mesh bay covers for instance as intake) and would take up only 3 drive bays. As designed, not practical.

It's 2-3mm shy of standard 5.25" width bay devices, which is considerable in PC tolerances. I had to use 3 toolless rails (2 on one side, 1 on the other - and yes the device was off-center) to get it to fit in a bay and it was still loose. Non-toolless mounting would be the only practical way for me to mount it if I actually planned to use

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Very strong, quiet, all around good fan.

Cons: Putting this in a dvd drive bay seems pointless. Area between DVD & HD bay is metal, so, with a DVD drive and a metal plate on either side, or top and bottom of where this fan would go (the only free dvd drive bay slot in my case, I can't see how this fan could really be used to do much good, but since it works fine for what I'm using it for, and since it's an all around great fan, I wont take off an egg.

Other Thoughts: I acidentally bought this, not knowing it had the DVD drive bay part to it, but when I got it I unscrewed those two metal brackets you see in the picture which are made to let it go into a dvd drive bay, and voila!, it became just a regular 120mm fan, and mounted just fine in my top fan#2 slot right beside my other 120mm fan. This fan is just as quiet and I sweear 10 times as powerful as the fan beside it. I could barely tell which side was intake when it was on simply because there was so much airflow going on. Compared to the other one beside it, same size, looks the same, but different make, that one I can barely feel the air, but this one just moves a lot of air. Very powerful. Picks up the slack and does the job for sure. Worth the money. And if I ever want to have a DVD Drive bay fan, like this was intended, all I have to do is buy another 120mm fan and screw those metal brackets on it.

5 out of 5 eggsWell Made

Pros: Costs some money, but has a well made aluminum bracket. This is the quietest fan in my case.

Cons: Limited application. Only fits in a DVD slot, but will cool anything direct above it or below it.

Other Thoughts: Who the heck is writing the comments about this making noise? This is nearly totally silent! And it has decent airflow. Seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsFlows good, Is loud.

Pros: Slips right into a 5.25" drive bay, easier then installing a CD Drive. The power connector is a single male/female connection, not a male connected by wires to a female, helps with wire clutter.

Cons: Fan is definitely louder then the specs say, louder then any of my other 120mm fans in the case.

Other Thoughts: Though it may be louder, it does flow more air then all my other fans. Truthfully if you do not like it, you could always swap the fan for another one, its the adapters on the fan that make this worth while. I am actually not even using this for the hard drives, being the bay for them already has a 120mm infront of it. I am using it as an extra air intake on my CoolMaster CMStacker case by installing it vertically, being they did not provide any other way to bring more air into the case from the front. Doing so does take up 5-6 drive bays as it is not intended to be mounted in such a way, but with this case I have room to spare.

3 out of 5 eggsGood air flow, lots of noise

Pros: Fan assembly is well made.
Moves a lot of air.

Cons: Fan is MUCH louder than the specs say.
Spec says 26dBA but it's really 65dBA (68dB on C weight scale) at 1/2 foot distance.

Fan is clearly audible from 15 feet away.

Other Thoughts: Would have been more useful if fan/heatisnk assembly had ANY way to connect to the hard drive itself. There is no contact with the hard drive to conduct heat. It just blows air towards your hard drive if you have room for a huge 120mm fan.
