4 out of 5 eggsPutting in work at the moment

Pros: When i received these fans i didn't expect much, i mean i mostly bought them because they were cheap and boy do they look pretty cheap, but let me tell you these things have put in work since i've used them. My hard drive used to be sitting idle at 40+ on hot days and 42ish on normal days (i live in cali btw). Since i've installed these fans my idle heat has been at 30 at it's lowest and highest being 35. *I have yet to test them under heavy load but will definitely update once i do*.

Cons: The colors dont really mesh well together. They look like something someone may have built from an array of different colored parts. they would of looked much cooler with black fans and a white case or something that collaborates together better than peach pink and blue.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: There aren't any pro's .......

Cons: At least one fan will make grinding noises within 40 hours. At least one fan will fail after about 100 hours. There are no rubber vibration dampeners .....All vibrations are absorbed by the HD. Can't believe this device is still on the market. It's complete junk. Would have given this piece of junk zero instead of one if that was available......

Other Thoughts: Instead of this unit, buy the unit listed at this link.....

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent!

Pros: good fit, quiet running

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Works great in my HTPC build. Runs quiet and HDD is room temperature after 90+ minutes of movie playback. If I need another one in the future, this will be it.

3 out of 5 eggsBad buy

Pros: The duel fans work great. They are silent and you wont know they are running.

Cons: If you have a custom built PC this will not fit in your hard drive slot as it takes up 1/4 of an inch which causes the screws to not line up.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest the front 5 1/4 slot duel 25 mm fan that will pull air in from the front of the pc and down to the hard drive.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive and easy to install. I found it to be very quiet. I never heard it above my case fans.

Cons: The cooler simply didn't provide any tangible benefits. At best I saw a drop of 1c on the drive.

Other Thoughts: Its possible that a front mounted case fan renders these type of coolers unnecessary. I would only recommend this for some with a case that does support a front fan and the hard drive is running uncomfortably hot. But if your drive never gets hotter then 40c in the middle of the summer then the truth is you really don't need this. Most hard drives are rated to about 60c.

4 out of 5 eggslasted about 3 years

Pros: It lasted just under 3 years. Metal housing is solid. Low cost way to hopefully prolong the life of your hdd.

Cons: It was never really a "quiet fan" but it wasn't too loud either.

Other Thoughts: At about the 2 year, 10 month mark: fan started shrieking at start up (the sleeve bearing of death sound). This would last about 30 seconds and would cease by the time you go to your desktop. I finally removed them because of complaints from the girlfriend. I think 3 years exceeded my expectations for a sleeve bearing fan. Now that I have an ssd, I dont think I really need to cool my back-up hdd anyways.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Gets to job done, when used in a push/pull configuration they work very well. The mount itself is made from sturdy and very durable metal, won't bend easy and also looks nice.

Cons: The fans themselves are not made from a sturdy enough material. Had one fan break from an unknown cause a week after purchase.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line is the value of this item is good. The quality of the mount itself is quite nice, although the fans are not made from a strong enough plastic.
If I were mindful of that I would have been more careful.

Though the fan broke I can not say it was the manufacturer's fault. I have the devides mounted on the exterior of my Rosewill R5 case, where there is a honeycomb style opening for increased airflow for my drives.

3 out of 5 eggsCools well, cheap, but somewhat defective

Pros: Keeps HD cool
Cheap
Dual Fans

Cons: Molex
Loud
Sleeve bearing
Horrible noises from startup (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Not many complaints about this fan other than it's one major flaw: an excruciatingly loud and eerie shreek/buzz coming from the fans upon resuming my machine from sleep. It is so bad I thought it was my HD failing when I first heard it! Detatching and re-attatching the cooler, or even restarting the machine, seems to fix the problem, but its far too annoying to be over-looked, especially when it happens 8/10 times I resume from sleep. Knocking off a couple eggs for that defect. Otherwise, good budget option

4 out of 5 eggsOkay cooler

Pros: It keeps your hard drive cool, looks good, and is made with thicker metal than most brands. Other brands like the Masscool are flimsy compared to these.

Cons: The fans are terrible! They don't last very long before they start dying, and as they die, they get very very loud.

Other Thoughts: Just buy some decent fans and these are great. Also, you may have trouble fitting them into an empty 3.5" bay so you may need to bend or cut some of the metal guides in the bay. Or just get adapters for a 5.25" bay and you'll be fine.
