5 out of 5 eggsMost Underrated Cooling Solution Out!

Pros: -Quiet
-Good Construction
-Very Low Temps
-Looks Nice
-Not Overly Large

Cons: -Only a 3 pin fan connection
-Mediocre packaging (illiterate as well)

Other Thoughts: I have been using this CPU cooler for about 7 months now. I have been using it to cool my FX 6300 OC'd to 4GHZ. With this cooler I ran Prime95 for 8 hours on a torture test, my max temps were about 38 Degrees Celsius. I was very impressed. I had also built my friend a pc with my same CPU except he wanted a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. I did the same Prime 95 test on his Pc, except his 6300 was at stock clock speeds, to my amazement the Hyper 212 Evo's max temp was 41 degrees Celsius, my generic cooler had beat the Hyper 212 Evo. I love this cooler, you will NOT be disappointed!

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: Big, quite and so far gets the job done. Idle temps on a fx 6300 went from 38c with stock cooler to 28-30c with the buffalo. Browsing the web went from low 40c stock cooler to low 30c with buffalo. haven't been able to test much but so far so good. Its obviously doing its job though.

Cons: Mounting could have been better. doesn't sit as tight as I would like on cpu but its secure enough. Can bend the mount as others have said to get it tighter.

Other Thoughts: If it continues to run and cool well, Ill consider this a good buy for the money.

4 out of 5 eggsGood performance

Pros: It works really well cooling CPU. It was a bit tough to fit on FM2 board, had to bend the clamps a bit to cover CPU fully. Fit above GSKILL ripjawsX on Asrock case.

Cons: Points downward into case.

Other Thoughts: I went with an evo 212 because I feel that having the heat go out the back of my case rather than reversing side case fan for exhaust was better for cooling my case. It was blowing mostly directly at my GPU before exiting out the side of my case. I decided it would be best for me to have the side fan as intake for my GPU so I went with an evo 212. This cooler did work at cooling CPU close to as well as evo 212, but I think it may have been raising temps for GPU so keep that in mind if you are looking to purchase this cooler. It exhausts down, and it may not fit due to RAM height.

2 out of 5 eggsPoorly made, but it does what it needs to

Pros: I bought this cooler as a temporary solution until my main cooler returns from an RMA (Zalman CNPS12X). Reading the reviews on here, it seemed like it'd be able to work well enough for the few weeks I'd need it to. And for under $20, I figured it was at least worth a shot.

While it is cheap enough to be used in a pinch, I wouldn't recommend it for long term use at all.

Cons: This cooler is very poorly designed. While the fan assembly itself is actually of decent quallity, the same can't be said of the mounting bracket or the heatsink itself. Like others have said, the heatsink sits loose on top of the CPU, meaning you can actually move the heatsink even after it's been mounted. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if it actually covered the entire surface area of the CPU's heat shield; it doesn't. As I write this, Core Temp reports my Phenom II X4 980 at stock clock rate and voltage as idling at 58C. 58C! That's ridiculous! I've reapplied the thermal paste and even used Zalman thermal paste instead, but neither of those bring the temps down.

In addition, the way the fan mounts to the heatsink is quite shoddy. It uses these thin metal rods to clamp the fan down where the screw holes are, and then it has rubber grommets at the end of each side to mount it to the heatsink. Only problem being, the heatsink fins are really thin and easy to bend, and the rubber grommets are easy to puncture, too. The end result? A fan that ended up breaking its own enclosure, causing the fan to hang and hit the heatsink as it spins. Lovely. Thankfully, if you mount the heatsink so that the fan is pointing upwards (so the BUFFALO on the top is read upside down), it negates this issue. Still, I'm afraid that even the slightest movement of my desk will send the fan flying in pieces.

Other Thoughts: It's really difficult to recommend this cooler because of its aforementioned shoddiness. Had Evercool designed a fan mount that was less likely to come apart AFTER YOU INSTALL IT, I probably wouldn't have the issue I'm having now.

Even if the fan wasn't a ticking timebomb, it's just not that good of a cooler to begin with. It can barely keep a stock quad core Phenom II at an operating idle temperature, even with the fan blowing straight out the top of the case! For a few extra bucks, you can get a SilenX or Cooler Master Hyper 212 that will almost certainly work better for your needs.

For the sake of completeness, here's a quick list of pros and cons.

- Fan is of decent quality
- Easy to mount, uses stock AMD mount plate
- Can be oriented so the fan blows up or down (up is highly recommended, for airflow reasons as well as keeping the fan mount together)
- Is cheap enough that if it breaks, you won't have too much invested in it and can get a better cooler
- Quiet enough to not be disturbing (when the fan isn't destroying itself, that is)

- Bad heatsink mount design
- Terrible fan mount design
- Mediocre cooler at best, could probably benefit from more heatpipes and perhaps another fan
- Thin fins that are very easy to bend, which causes issues with the fan mount

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Inexpensive and works great. I have bought 3 of these for my AMD AM2, AM3, and AM3+. Chips over 2 years ago. All are quite and cool very well. I have a Turbun 6 core 1055 overclocked to 3.6 Ghz and running bonic, with 6 threads, it hits at most, maybe 146 degree F. It mounts easy and I used silver paste. You can adjust clamp tension by bending the chip clamp and shift it side to side to spread the paste. It can be faced up or down in case.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you want to test your AMD with a good stress test and help the world, join Bonic scientific community open source computing. It will run the max computing threads, my 6 thread 6 core, and use navida, ati or amd video cards also . I do Einstein gravity wave computations occasionally.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Buffalo is a Great Value

Pros: Big and cool looking, cools the chip more than it really needs, has pretty fan with red blades and different enclosure than normal fans, Buffalo logo with jumping bulls

Cons: Logo says Buffalo but the picture shows two bulls jumping at each other. Buff =/= bull.

Other Thoughts: I've had this for about two years and it's been doing fine. It's lived on two different motherboards at this point. While the fan is pretty cool looking, it's a 100mm. Mine hasn't failed, but it's pretty difficult to find a 100mm fan.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive, cooled very well at first!

Cons: Unstable mount. Fan blade fell off after about three months of use causing total unbalance!

Other Thoughts: Would not buy this again!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: took an egg off for a UPS error, not for the quality of the cooler or newegg issue, this was a UPS error.
product worked great.. had limited options for a replacement
for this industrial PLU.. removing mainboard to install a new backplate was not an option but needed a replacement high efficient CPU cooler, this was the answer.
easy installation, super quiet and keeps the CPU cool even in a harsh manufacturing environment.

Cons: UPS lost my package. it was not on the drivers truck.. when I explained to him that this was a very very bad thing he got on the phone with a supervisor and to make a long story short, his supervisor was at my doorstep at 8:00 AM to redeliver this..

Other Thoughts: I'm self employed and 99% of my client base are either industrial or commercial accounts. I've relied on newegg almost exclusively because they do provide a huge selection, great prices and decent after sales support. This helps my bottom line.. making money. so even a small shipping glitch could really effect me.
