1 out of 5 eggsOnly if you're desparate...

Pros: -It will work as advertised... to an extent.

Having said that:

I generally find 1 egg reviews amusing because most "1 eggs" are usually by people of questionable intelligence or skill(IMHO anyway... YMMV). Or they wrongly knock a product because of a DOA... DOAs happen people, it's the nature of the industry... For every DOA you see there are usually 100s if not 1000s or tens of thousands of product that work perfectly fine for years and years but I digress...

This product is almost worthless. It does push some air but not enough to justify it's cost. I bought two of these and am returning them ASAP. Normally I'll find SOME use for something even if it doesn't live up to my expectations (Which I assure you are quite reasonable.) I'll mod it, or use it in a different application... I'll find SOME way of making it work. Sadly, this product offers no hope of redemption. On to the Cons section...

Cons: CON-tinued...

I can hear you from here: "But FL, WHY does it suck so bad? You've done a lot of yammering already but given no real information..."

-Air flow leaves a lot to be desired. Certainly nowhere near the claims the manufacturer makes.

-Cheap plastic construction. Duct and frame are all one piece. If you could remove the front duct entirely and mount the unit INSIDE the bay behind the bay cover (Most medium to high quality cases these days come with mesh front panels/bay covers.) and say put it between two 5.25 optical drives you might get decent flow out of it.

-Noise. It's not so much that this unit is loud it's that it has an odd pitch to it and it seems to rattle inside the housing.

If you want to see how a real front bay cross flow fan should be look up the Vantec Vortex 2 (Sadly it seems to be discontinued) It's not perfect but it's an improvement over this Evercool tragedy by an order of magnitude.

Other Thoughts: I've already wasted too much time on this product. I'll leave you with a ray of hope: If you search around a bit you can still find the Vantec Vortex 2. I found a retailer with 5 still in stock... I bought all 5 and they were actually CHEAPER than this thing (not by much but still...) I've used the Vortex 2 in the past and it does a great job in comparison. The only reason I got this Evercool in the first place is because it seems to be the only 5.25 cross flow device available at this time (At least here on Newegg...).

I challenge Evercool to answer for this train wreck of a product.

I gotta laugh whenever I see "Tech level - High" Can you troubleshoot down to the component level and surface mount a bad chip if need be? Didn't think so ;)

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Drive-bay squirrel-cage blower a great idea!

Cons: It's really tempting, but read the reviews (especially the negative ones), and then examine the pictures. You'll see that this contraption simply CAN'T work well. A blower works by creating a vortex. It moves air by spinning it around, accelerating it toward its circumference, and directs it by allowing it through an opening (ideally a duct,) at its circumference. This causes some vacuum about the center (axle), so the blower draws air from the sides. Unless ducted to do so, blowers do not move air "front to back," but "axis to radius."

Other Thoughts: One can see that this unit is stifled on both ends, and open outside the "cage" - not how blowers are made! But look out for one that's designed properly (as I will), and it should blow your socks off!

p.s. Newegg should allow a Zero-egg rating; One egg implies that a product has earned an egg. That said, newegg still rocks!

3 out of 5 eggsHonest Review (READ FIRST}

Pros: Looks cool,
Great bay drive filler,
Perfect gift for "someone" who has everything (:

Cons: Price
An LED or TWO couldent hurt for the price

Other Thoughts: This is strictly a cosmetic purchase will not improve ur system performance or temp.

Add 5 or 6of these bad boys in a full tower ect... that would deff make ur case something special

2 out of 5 eggsNot all it's cracked up to be

Pros: -Quiet at low speed
-Drives some air across my normally scorching hard drive
-Included power cable is quite long
-Semi-transparent smoke color is attractive
-Newegg shipping is astonishingly fast (not product specific, but I do appreciate it)

Cons: -High speed is incredibly loud, vibrates the case
-Doesn't push anywhere near stated volume
-Draws only a small amount from the intake, the rest is recirculated
-Makes a whistling noise when I isolate the fan from the intake (i.e. install above a CDROM drive)
-Newegg has to charge tax on California residents (again, not product specific, but it adds to the price)

Other Thoughts: The 53.2-100CFM boast is nowhere near the volume I'm getting from this fan. 100CFM across the intake would create a vacuum, yet I feel very little suction. Even if those numbers were mistakenly labeled "CFM" instead of "m3h," the equivalent 31.3-58.9CFM still seems high compared to what I'm getting. Compared to a case fan rated at 60CFM, this seems to push about half as much at full speed. The fan draws a very small amount from the intake, but mostly just acts as an air-centrifuge, spinning air from the center outward in all directions. If the intakes were at the sides and the output chute was shaped like a Fibonacci spiral, I think this might have a chance of drawing in more fresh air and delivering higher volume. But, then again, I'm not an engineer.

I say avoid this stinker and save yourself the dough.

P.S. If someone does redesign this with side intakes and a spiral shaped exhaust, I want my cut :P

4 out of 5 eggsA thought for all the negative reviews

Pros: Interesting little fan, could be useful in the right application

Cons: Worthless if used wrong?

Other Thoughts: As everyone is saying it's an intake fan I'm thinking this was designed for the desktop systems that lay horizontally on your desk. It seems logical to me as it would pull air in the front of the case to help with the front to back airflow. Just a thought.

5 out of 5 eggsnice fan

Pros: bought one about 4-5 years ago on my first build. it still works, pulls a lot of air and ist too loud.

Cons: if you use a digital fan controller it will tip off the rpm alarm on full speed.

3 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Looks nice. Pulls air. Not too loud except on highest setting.

Cons: Cannot reverse the fan direction. Must be mounted upside-down in some cases to avoid recycling hot air. Mounting upside down will only work on some cases. Cannot install this in some cases which have doors on the front because it will block the door from opening and closing.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for an exhaust fan, DO NOT BUY THIS. You cannot use it as one. It is an intake fan ONLY. Even taking it apart to reverse the fan blades and clip the wires to swap them WILL NOT WORK. Additionally, There is no room on the opposite side to mount the motor, so you can't even reverse it by changing the position of the motor. I'm not happy about this. It turns out Evercool used to sell an identical product that exhausted air which was what I thought this was when I bought it. I am very disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: It looks cool, nice black color, Nice bay drive filler

Cons: This thing barely blows any air, I get more air moving a pinwheel with my fingers than this thing. It's actually better if you leave a bay drive space open than put this thing in your case, atleast you'll get some air being sucked by your CPU fan.

Other Thoughts: If this thing worked like it was suppose to do, I would have bought another one, But you know what they say "You wish in 1 hand and poop on the other, which do you think will fill more?"

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Actually works a bit...not as loud as the internal fan in this dell GX280.

Cons: The blades on the fan are facing the wrong way to remove heat. Heat rises towards the cd drives in most towers, these louvres are bent the opposite way which is odd. They could grab a lot more air if they were inverted.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Decent intake fan if installed correctly

looks awesome

pushes decent air on max

Cons: At best on idle
-2c CPU
-3c hard drives
-1c video cards

its crazy loud on max, not bad at a mid level

Other Thoughts: i installed it as soon as i got it with my temps noted beforehand. after turning it on i seen nothing no temp changes i unplug and change one of my other intake fans to discharge the hot air at the top of the box, after turning it back on i started to see a small change to the temps over time.

this thing is a good idea but it can turn in to a nightmare fast. putting it in a bad spot or your case is not set up well for a top front intake can take the luster out of this fan.

this can be a great product in the right hands.
