4 out of 5 eggsIt is decent

Pros: I wanted to put a bigger cooler on a build I was performing and thought this cooler looks very nice for the price. Install is very easy (AM2), and it keeps the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1GHz at 34-36C.

Cons: Size/efficiency ratio. Very large cooler, and I expected a little better results. Also just a little bit loud, but not too bothersom.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a great product by Gigabyte. Only got 4 eggs because of my expectations of the cooler and the little amount of noise the fan makes

1 out of 5 eggsNot Very Good

Pros: None

Cons: Looked and felt cheaply constructed. Was not adequate to cool the CPU. Had to buy another make of fan.

Manufacturer Response:

Manufacture response:Thank you for your business with Gigabyte Technologies. I believe you will be able to find suitable product in our abundant product line, strongly suggest you to try the High End product of ours such as G-Power II or liquid cooling (3D Galaxy II).

5 out of 5 eggsMy new favorite

Pros: Bought this some time ago when it was in stock and am I glad I did. I had this on an AthlonXP 3000 and hit 30-40c idle to load and that is astounding for that chip, but on my Phenom 8450x3 temps are even lower thanks to better thermal paste and 45nm tech. After 10 hours of Prime95 I woke up to 31c CPU temps.... I turned it off and within the first minute it had dropped back to 25c and has sat there comfortably ever since.

Cons: Mounting it to an intel board is a total pain, but possible, but will keep that thing very secure. The fan blades are really sharp, so sharp that even now I still have a scar from when a blade caught me in the finger, almost a year go.

Other Thoughts: In an Apevia X-Dreamer, I have every fan on intake, but a Silverstone 120mm 110cfm at 3/4 speed the whole time giving great airflow through the case. This, along with some ArcticSilver5 ceramic, and this fan bent 90* with the fan blowing at my exhaust fan, 20c CPU temps aren't uncommon. Even without the fan, this cooler runs passively at 30c idle and 40-45c load. Honestly this is the best cooler I have ever used and will be sure to get more in the future when they come back in stock. For $23 this is unbeatable and I would tell anyone looking at getting this to not think twice; it cools your CPU and the board around it effectively, you can't ask for much more than that :)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great fan, awesome job at cooling the CPU. It looks great towering over the board in the case.

Cons: It was difficult to mount as others have said. Be careful if you have tall heat sinks on your RAM. Mine comes very close to the heat pipes, but it's enough that there is some separation.

Other Thoughts: I've seen this item out of stock more often. It's a shame since it's a really great fan at the price. Also when I build a case I like to have a branding to it, so having a Gigabyte fan on a Gigabyte board is a way to show of your support for great products.

5 out of 5 eggsCool and quiet

Pros: Quiet. Not so big as to overshadow everything else. Great cooling properties. Super easy installation for AM2 users.

Cons: Fan enclosure looks toy like

Other Thoughts: Install was a snap in my Antec 1200 case, didn't need to remove mb, just the graphics card so I could get a little better leverage on the right hand clip. I used the thermal grease provided and it's every bit as good or better than Arctic Silver. Running an AMD 5400+ @ 3.2ghz with temps 20c idle to 35c load. Now that's one cool running machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGood All Rounder

Pros: Great Heat sink/fan combo for a low (now even less than I paid!) price. Easy to install, compatible with several different sockets. Comes with lots of mounting hardware, paste, and power connector.

Cons: Two things stand out: First, it slides around too easily on the CPU which makes me nervous. Second: The fan assembly (clips and mounting) although sturdy enough can be a pain to put back together if you take it apart to clean.

Other Thoughts: Other than that, it works great, and hasn't let me down. It's not really massive either so it should fit on almost any mobo without cramping ram/heat piping/case/etc. Oh, the color is kinda weird but you knew that. Looks like an iceberg or ice capped mountain in my case. That's probably the point though XD

4 out of 5 eggsExcelent Cooler

Pros: This cooler, though kind of ugly with the Blue fan blades and white frame, is a really good cooler; even for overclocking. Awesome price

Cons: Extremely ugly. Both the blue and white look nasty with even the smallest amount of dust. Mounting this cooler takes skill and talent, though no hazzard of being cut. Taking one star away because of the difficulty in attaching the bracket and clips that hold this in place. Not copper. Have to remove Motherboard to install.

Other Thoughts: I was very desperate in my need for a cooler for my G0 stepping Q6600 that could withstand some over clocking while maintaining cool temperatures. This was actually a "get me by" purchase that I'm glad to have made. While it will win no awards for looks, it should for function. With this cooler, I was able to Over clock my Q6600 from the stock frequency of 2.4GHz to 3.8GHz. My heavy load (People, you can run Prime95 all you want. in fact that's what I did when I had it at 4GHz and it ran fine. Launched UT3, and it froze.) I use UT3 and 3DMark 2006 for stability test and after running that for about an hour, my CPU was running at about 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Idle was somewhere near 80F. I've recently changed it out for a solid copper cooler which dropped the heavy load temp t 117F so there are better out there for more than twice the price. I put this one into another machine and got an Idea. I bent (VERY SLOWLY and with a tubing bender) to make the fins come to a 90 degree

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: First and foremost...NO FREAKIN' PUSHPINS!!! :p

This lowered the idle temperatures on my e8400 from 47C (stock HSF) => 39C at idle. It lowered load temperatures by about 15C. At 4.0Ghz & Vcore 1.32, my max load temperatures are 69C after 1 hour of small FTT Prime 95 torture testing. Yes this is definitely walking the line but considering where I'm running my CPU, and considering the poor results I got with my stock HSF, I *love* this cooler!

The fan isn't loud at all to me. It is nothing in comparison to my case fan. If my GPU fans and case fans didn't make so much noise, I would sleep with the thing on -- and its only a few feet from my bed.

Cons: The instructions are worthless. They are abbreviated, and the pictures are so small you need a microscope to see them. If you are stupid like me it will take you a couple minutes to figure out how to put the thing on at most. If you do not know how to apply thermal grease, google it *before* you dismantle your computer :p

The plastic brackets for Intel 775 sockets worry me. They seem sturdy...but why not make them out of metal to be safe??? It takes a lot of force to secure the HSF, and they do flex, so try not to break them. I also worry that they may suddenly snap one day...but given that my pushpin HSF has FALLEN OFF of my CPU while I was using my computer, I would say this is 10x a better alternative.

Other Thoughts: Forget the pushpin junk. Grab this well-made cooler for ~10-15C reduction. I'm very happy with it.
