Go with the real deal

Comments: This brand may not contain silver, but it doesn't do the same job as other compounds. Having installed the true <Insert Cold Adjective Here> Silver on dozens of CPUs and GPUs, I assert that the extra few *cents* is worth it. Watching a PIII/1GHz go from 120F to 88F just by switching from stock goo to <Insert Again> Silver was truly a thing of beauty. I used this on the same processor to compare, it it was only able to get down to 108F (both after 2 weeks of curing).

Raised temps

Pros: None

Cons: This product is awful. There was no "immediately lowered temps" for me. My processor raised by 10C idle/load right after applying. Even after 2 weeks it is still 5C higher than it used to be with stock compound. Avoid this product!

And no, I'm not some idiot that doesn't know how to apply it properly. Built many PC's and this is the worst compound I have ever used.

Pros: Works well with Intel and AMD CPU's. Keeps them cool and easy application.

Cons: None that I can find as of yet.

Other Thoughts: A bigger tube of the stuff would be nice

Pros: This is a very good thermal compound but difficult to apply.

Cons: This past is applied entirely differently than silicon based pasts. A silicon based past is applied as a drip in the middle which then is flattened by pressing the heat sink on it. This compound in contrast behaves like a wet metal powder (which is essentially what it is) and does not flow. In fact it can rub off by just twisting the heat sink a bit as one would do normally to distribute the past. The right application is: apply a tiny amount to the heat sink but not to the CPU. Use a credit card to create a very thin even film. Since it rubs easily off, you may have to give it a couple of tries. Then put the heat sink with the thermal past straight onto the CPU without twisting or turning it. The difference between using this method over distributing it with a finger (in a glove) was 7 degrees Celsius.

Other Thoughts: The thermal compound and the heat sink is just one element into creating a good thermal environment. The best thermal past and heat sink will not do much if you cannot remove the heat from the case. A stock cooler with a good ventilated case may do much better than an aftermarket heat sink in a closed case.

Excelent product

Pros: This compound is great, i used it for re-seating my cpu after my old motherboard gave out. Great thermo conductivity, i used to idle at 35C and on full load i used to get above 70C. Now with this compound i idle at 18C and never get above 42C on full load. This is a great Silver Thermal Compound, i would recommend it to anyone, and I will definitely buy again in the future.
