2 out of 5 eggsGreat airflow, poor durability

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Stylish, effective fan that pushes tons of air into my case. I use it to keep two high end graphics cards running cool for my bitcoin mining rig. Unfortunately, this means that when this fan began to fail my system overheated and BSODed.

Cons: The bearing went out after about 18 months of usage. Now it hums very loudly and pushes through less than a quarter as much air as possible. I'm going to replace it, but I doubt I'll buy this fan again despite its pros.

Other Thoughts: For being advertised as a MTBF of 100,000 hours, I didn't get any more than 15,000. 15% of advertized life isn't really acceptable for a fan with this pricetag.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Moves A LOT of air, far more than the usual computer fans. Usually you can barely feel air flow from your 120 and 140 fans but with this thing the air is pouring against you like a wind and your hand will actually get cold quickly. It's also extremely quiet. Despite the other reviews mentioning noise, mine makes zero noise. I'd have to put my head right next to it to hear it, and I have a really good sense of hearing btw.

Cons: Hard to screw in. The holes are not pre-threaded and it's a tight fit, so you really have to put some force into screwing this thing in. I actually began to shred 2 of the screws just installing this fan because they required so much force. My suggestion is to pre-screw in the screws to thread the holes. This will make your life MUCH easier when you install it afterwards. But this is something the designers should have done for you. -1

Other Thoughts: Apparently the blade count paid off. Unless this thing dies in <3 years, I'll always be taking Aero shark for my case fans from now on. But longevity has yet to be seen as it has only been spinning about 3 days. But so far it seems like it was a great purchase for 15$. If you need a 140m fan, get this one.

2 out of 5 eggsDidnt work for me :(

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Nice looking? Its a fan...
-Fairly quiet at max RPM
-includes 3pin, molex adaptor & hardware

Cons: I figured this was the the best option to lower my overall case temps given its high RPM/CMF. I was able to lower my temps at best by 2c under heavy gaming load. My stock fans are rated at 1000 RPM and 50 CMF, half what these AeroCool are rated at. So given the minor decrease in temps I can't justify the cost considering I bought 2 of them.

Other Thoughts: I understand every case will yield different results, I've been building custom gaming machines for years. Theses fans, in my personal opinion are not worth the cost vs performance in my Lian-Li PC100 case.

5 out of 5 eggsMoves alot of air

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: On high these fans can pull in alot of air thru your filters. I'm using 2 as inputs on my Lian-Li V2120. I put the original fan screens on these & added a decimax filter to the outside of the case. On high these things can pull in & push out alot of air, right thru those filters.

Cons: These fans are loudish on high, but not noisy or annoying like other fans. I'm using a Lian-Li fan speed controller to lower the volume when it's not needed.

Other Thoughts: Bought 3, but 1 had a buzzing bearing noise so I replaced that one with the Silverstone Air-Penetrator it replaced. Using the S.A.P. inside the case where there is no filter over it. So the S.A.P. is fine in that application. Over/under comparison with the S.A.P. using the filters & the Sharks double the S.A.P.s output into my case.

2 out of 5 eggsAerocool Shark

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Moves a lot of air

Cons: Had this in the case for about 1 1/2 months and it started locking up. Now it's shot. Ordered two of these from two different distributors, one being newegg, and the other one was DOA. It seemed to do an ample job, but if this is the expected lifespan I would've looked for another cooling option.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Moves a decent amount of air, VERY quietly.

Cons: Less airflow than a standard, cheap, noisy 140mm fan.

Other Thoughts: Got one of these to replace the stock fan in my Thermaltake PSU, and when I put the machine back together I thought that perhaps the fan connector came unplugged. It turned out to be operating properly, just real, real quiet. Doesn't move quite as much air as the stock Yate Loon fan, but it definitely moves enough to get the job done and my PSU does not sound like a jet engine anymore.

I must say, I was a bit put off by the cheap Hong Kong looking packaging, but it really is a quality fan.

5 out of 5 eggsNice quite fan

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: This fan puts out more airflow than my 200mm stock case fan. Comes with plenty of options for install screws and rubber plugs.

Cons: Non so far.

Other Thoughts: I have it positioned above my video cards. It helps keep my ASUS ENGTX570 ‘s running cool. Loaded they run around 44c idle low 30c.

1 out of 5 eggsNo air flow, but quiet

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: Extremely quiet for how fast it spins. Looks like it should perform well.

Cons: Spins fast but very weak air flow. Installed this in multiple situations on a couple different systems. I have tried hooking this up to a couple different fan controllers but it doesnt make a difference. Like others have said, it seems to push the air in a very wide cone, leaving a large dead spot in the middle. But saddly, stock case fans out perform this. So look else where for a good case fan.

Other Thoughts: For the price, i would rather have it be a lot louder and actually move a good amount of air then to only really be for looks and quietness, because you can use a fan controller to quiet it down but u can't get more air flow out of it at max speed.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat fan

This review is from: AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Case cooler

Pros: -one of the highest cfm for 140mm fans
-extremely quiet, the only sound is from the air the fan is pushing, no motor noise
-claims has high static pressure, although i have no way of testing this and it doesnt matter for me cause im not using this on a heatsink

Cons: going back to using this for a heatsink fan, the fan has a very large dead spot in the center, the way the fins are arranged seems to push air in a cone shape, forcing it both sideways and back.

Other Thoughts: overall very good fan, i think it is best suited as an exhaust fan do to the way it pushes air in a cone shape, but it would still work well anywhere else, very quite and moves lots of air compared to the 140mm fan that comes in the haf932 which is a pathetic fan.

I still dont know why they dont make large fans that run at high speeds, am i the only person who wants a 2000rpm 140mm or 200mm. fan i guess so cause no one seems to make any
