4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: 2 days so far. It pushes a lot of air and the LED looks very cool, kind of like a neutron design. Looks very nice on the NZXT phantom black.

Cons: none so far

3 out of 5 eggsAn update

Pros: High airflow for the price and size of this fan. Vividly bright LED. Nice, long fiber wrapped cable. Looks very nice when spinning. Seems to push about as much air as the stock NZXT 140mm fan that comes with a Phantom 410. See other thoughts.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: As an update to my previous review complaining about how loud this fan is, I have tested it in a few different mounting locations. I have discovered that the extremely high amount of noise it makes was coming from mounting it in a position where it has to draw air into the case through a "honeycomb" grill, such as the type usually used on the rear exhaust and side intake positions on most cases. It only seems to be horribly loud when used as an intake through the holey grill. If used as an exhaust, it is not that loud at all. It also seems to only be loud if mounted directly to the grill surface. If it is in an open hole with a grill/dust filter spaced away from it, it sounds fine.

My thoughts are that the closely spaced blades set at an extreme, airplane propeller looking pitch is the cause of the rushing air sound it was making. If you are buying it to mount it into an open hole in your case, or as an exhaust fan in the rear, it should do the trick just fine. But, if like me you want an intake fan on a honeycomb grill mounting position, look elsewhere for a fan with a less aggressive blade pattern, such as the NZXT FN-120RB. For an LED, I'd say the Cooler Master R4-L2S-122B-GP 120mm would perform on par with this with more mounting options.

3 out of 5 eggsGood airflow... but...

Pros: LED lighting is very bright, and nicely colored. The blades make it look very cool when its spinning. It move a lot of air for a mid range 120mm fan.

Cons: This thing is extremely loud at higher speeds! I mean, unbearably loud. I mounted it on the bottom of my Phantom 410 case as an intake to help cool the GPU. All fan slots are filled in this case except for the internal one on the hard drive cage (3 140mm and 3 120mm including this one, and 2 Corsair SP120 performance series fans mounted push/pull on an H60). This single fan is so loud it is audible over all the other fans and even my Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X combined!

I have all the fans hooked up to the stock fan controller on the case, so I have 3 speeds to choose from. On the lowest setting, it blends in with the other noise, but either of the other 2 settings makes it unbearable. Fan noise doesn't normally bother me at all, but this one makes a buffeting sound and is higher pitched than the other fans are, which make more of a droning, humming sound on full speed. It kind of sounds like air rushing through an open car window on the highway.

I tried mounting it as an exhaust to see if it was different, it was not. I mounted it on the side of the case as an intake and it was still extremely loud.

Other Thoughts: I would only recommend this fan to those who play games with headphones on, or to those who don't care about how noisy their rig is. It does it's job at moving air admirably, but for me the bottom line is it is just too noisy.

3 out of 5 eggsNZXT is underrated

Pros: Looks good and not too loud. I bought 2 of these over a year ago and they still operate silently (no rattles or whine).

Cons: They could move more air...they should move more air.

3 out of 5 eggsHUH???

Pros: It works.
On/Off switch for LED.

Cons: So, never having a fan with an LED, I didn't know how the separate LED wire hooked up with the "Y" wire of the switch because it leaves one of the 2 "Y" wire connectors all alone with no place to go. Turns out that it works like that...
BUT, the response from NZXT cracked me up. He said that "the fan was not for the NZXT Phantom 630 case, it's for the NZXT Phantom case". That's it...no helpful comment like: it does not need to connect at all!.

Other Thoughts: This issue took longer than the entire new build. I don't like to take chances with wiring....

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied.

Pros: - Very cool design. I love the blade design
- Nice acoustics. The sound from the air on the blades has a nice pitch. Silent at lower speeds, not bad at higher speeds.
- Moves quite a lot of air - I am confused by people's comments saying otherwise.

Cons: none that I can see

Other Thoughts: Using it to blow on my GPUs right now, and works marvelously; GPU temps are down by 10 C.

3 out of 5 eggsNZXT RF-FZ120-U1 120mm fan

Pros: This fan fits the Phantom case perfectly.. I bought two.

Cons: They enclosed the wrong size screws with the fan. The fan is 25mm thick, the screws they enclosed are 10mm long and twice as wide as the screw holes in the Phantom case. I am trying to contact NZXT but they don't seem to have a phone number to call. I tried to contact support by email. I hope they can send me the proper screws.

4 out of 5 eggsI hoped for more.

Pros: The fans look nice. The sleeve on the cables is top quality. I like how the blue LEDs dim or get brighter as Fan Xpert 2 adjusts the RPMs according to CPU temp. Actual RPM range is 400-1400 when using Fan Xpert 2, allowing me to make these virtually silent for idle. They blow some cool air into my hard drive cages.

Cons: I'm using 2 of these as front intake fans. These replaced some 2 wire (molex connected) Rosewill fans that came with my case. I do not know the Rosewill fan's ratings, however I could definately feel more air pass through my hard drive cages with them compared to these NZXTs running at 1200RPM. Those fans were no louder then the NZXT fans running at 1200RPM either. I'm glad I have a 3rd dedicated intake for my CPU cooler in my 5¼ drive bays because I don't think much air would reach it otherwise.

The fans shipped to me in a brown padded envelope and the packages were all sorts of mangled, not a square corner on either box. Cmon newegg... you didn't have a small box you could ship with?

Lack of performance is the reason for -1 egg. The shipping issue is just something I wanted to point out, it did not affect the fan's operation or condition.

Other Thoughts: I wanted fans that I could control to replace the Rosewill fans, and these fit the bill. For the price I had expected a better airflow:noise ratio then the stock fans and unfortunately that's not the case. I can however keep these fans down <900RPM and they become silent while still providing airflow.

My System (a work in progress)

3 out of 5 eggsIt's a fan.

Pros: I bought this because I mistakenly thought it was the same fan that came in the top region of the NZXT Phantom 410. Apparently you can't even get an LED version of that fan, however.

This fan looks sleek and has see-through blades (which wasn't what I wanted).

Cons: I can't tell that it's actually moving any air, to be honest... the air flow out of the topside of the NZXT Phantom 410 hasn't increased with the addition of this fan by any noticeable amount.

However, it has gotten noisier.

This fan has a slight rattle that is all kinds of annoying.
