1 out of 5 eggsSystem won't even boot after installation.

Pros: It's big and comes with a 140mm fan.

Cons: After following the installation instructions, I press the power button on my PC, it starts up for 3 seconds, shuts down and goes into an infinite loop until I kill the power on the power supply.

4 out of 5 eggsNZXT Respire T40 CPU Cooler

Pros: Comparable to the CoolerMaster 212 Evo for around the same price, depending on sales. Looks great, fan is nice, machined very well and I'm excited to use it, but see other thoughts

Cons: AMD Mounting bracket/clip broken, the screw on it to mount the cooler down snapped off! Unfortunate :(

Other Thoughts: It seems like the black "rubber" (Not actually rubber) parts don't seem to.. work? it's odd, I'm not sure which way they're supposed to be on, as one side is notched and the other isn't, if it didn't matter obviously both sides would be the same. I guess I'm doing something wrong?

Also, even when the crossbar with the NZXT print on it is dead center, the nuts to tighten the cooler down to the brackets from the AMD hardware don't go dead center making it impossible to mount the cooler with even weight distribution.

I've looked all over online and there's not ONE video showing how this is supposed to be installed on an AM3+ build. Frustrating! I'd love to use it to match the other NZXT parts I ordered recently (Source 220, Sentry 2 and two case fans which all work great) but this cooler is unusable because one of the two mounting clips broke. Stuck on my old cooler, and I ended up having to use two applications out of my Arctic Silver 5 tube (once to put the T40 on, once to put my old cooler back on after the part broke) and that stuff is pretty pricey for how little you actually get.

Is there anyone that could help with my issue? I'm having the parts replaced (Thanks NZXT!) but the mounting process boggles me, I've got everything down except the fact the crossbar doesn't want to center, making the entire thing feel like a waste of money.

1 out of 5 eggsIdel at 70c

Pros: Mounting was easy.

Cons: The outside air temperature is 23 degrees celsius but my cpu is idling at 70 degrees celsius and at load it will go to 80 before its starts heavily throttling itself.

4 out of 5 eggsbest low budget aircooling

Pros: Very low idle (21C) and load temps(48), ability to add an extra fan with mounting hardware, Great for its price to performance.

Cons: Only comes with 1 fan, mounting is not completely secure, and if you have an AMD socket be prepared for it to not sit with air flow from side to side but rather up and down.

Other Thoughts: I was initially upset when mounting was up and down rather than side to side, but works perfectly with my NZXT Phantom 410 case, in which I made my top 140mm fans my exhaust and all others are intakes.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid CPU cooler

Pros: Great value, provides performance at or just below hyper 212 EVO for $10 or more less. Relatively good instructions, comes with a little pack of thermal paste. Does well under stress tests, cooling a FX-4130 at 4.2GHz.

Cons: This heatsink is bulky, I have a Hyper 212 EVO on another rig and it is larger than that easily. Other reviewers saying the under-bar that is provided is a little wacky are correct. It took some work to get it lined up and installed down correctly.
The stock fan is also a little weak.

Other Thoughts: Giving 5 eggs just because of the value. I got this for $15 on sale. 1/2 the price of a hyper 212 EVO for just about the same performance.

3 out of 5 eggsHeadache at first

Pros: Keeps CPU at around 35 degrees Celsius, 40 when playing heavy load games, even with my mid size case, two graphics cards, and hardly any space in it.

Cons: Bulky, a pain to install, only comes with one fan, had to get another for an in/out flow.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to go on my MSI Z77 motherboard, put it on like the instructions indicated, but then, my computer wouldn't start. After a long week of troubleshooting, replacing parts, pulling my hair out, I realized the bottom plate that fits under the motherboard was touching a metal piece on my case. I bent the piece on my case back so they wouldn't touch and PRESTO Worked just fine!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: This CPU cooler is huge. It has a very sturdy, easy to install mount. With the correct fans installed on it, the cooler is a great performer. A 4 pin, PWM, 90+CFM, 120mm Fan works better for me.

Cons: I strongly disagree with the engineer’s choice of this fan for this cooler. There are very few enthusiasts that will buy a cooler this large for a 65 watt CPU, yet this seems to be what it’s designed for. My QX6850 is a 130watt CPU, it is not overclocked. With the stock Fan installed, at idle, it runs at less than 105°F ( 40°C). With all 4 of this CPU’s cores working at a 60% load, it’s at 140°F (60°C). That’s a little too hot for my taste. The stock fan only has two speeds it will run at (slow and slower); it, of course, runs quietly at both of those speeds. At the fan’s fastest speed, you can barely feel any air moving through the cooler. For this fan, the low speed jumper is useless; it runs the fan way too slow.
One of the Crossbar Screws needed to be rethreaded; as is, it was unusable.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these; they each came with a bad Crossbar Screw. NZXT tech support is slow; it took almost a month for me to receive the replacement parts. If the identical problem happened in two consecutive serial numbers, this would seem to be a consistent problem.
I gave this CPU Cooler 4 eggs because the bad part it came with can easily be fixed with a tap, people commonly replace the stock fan with one that better suits their particular computer, and for what I paid for it, this CPU cooler is a great value.

5 out of 5 eggsBig, but quiet

Pros: Big 120 MM fan with 4 heat pipes. Very quiet--come with an inline power adapter to lower the fan speed. Very good price, $15. Instructions are very clear. Everything lined up fine.

Cons: Very big--whole assembly stand 160 mm in height. The fin stick over my dual memory chips; still plenty of room for my memory chip and the heat spreaders on them. I knew this when I purchased

Other Thoughts: The cooler was mounted onto a AMD A8 5600K APU, which is installed to a MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 mother board. I was barely able to get the assembly onto my mid tower case, as the height needed was 160mm. Set the case 120 mm fan to low speed and the cooler fan to the low speed as well. Use Silver oxide thermal paste instead of the thermal compound that came with it. I over clocked the APU from 3.6 to 3.78 GHz, and the dual memory chips, from 1600 to 1680 Mhz. Average board temp varies from 27 to 33 C, while the average cores temp varies from 41 to 65 C, depending on what is being done. With the Antec Sonata 500 mid tower case, and the two 120 fans running at its low speed, the whole system is very quiet. When installed the cooler, install the dual memory chip first before mounting the cooler on the APU.
