4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but failed after 4 months

Pros: Pretty easy assembly and installation, other than some trouble with my case, the Rosewill THOR V2. Works great and keeps my i7-3930k CPU 10° C cooler than my Thermaltake CLP0596 air cooler. Very quiet, though I paired it with 2 Noctua NF-A14 fans for even less noise.

Cons: It worked great for 4 months, then suddenly the pump stopped during a gaming session, resulting in my system slowing to a crawl then just turning off. Very disappointed by this, and to make matters worse I'm past Newegg's 30 day RMA period, so no chance of a replacement. Oh well, I guess buying computer parts is always a gamble.

Other Thoughts: For some reason plugging in the USB connector caused my USB bus controller to overheat. Not sure if I'm the only one with this issue. I have a ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard. Sucks since without the USB the LED won't light up, but oh well, not a big deal.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsWill not fit in NZXT Source 220

Pros: Cools well. 26c-28c under load 3.4Ghz I5k

Cons: NZXT Kraken x60 will not fit in many of its cases, including the Source 220, Tempest, Gamma Classic and the M59 . the screw holes do not match up. nor is there enough room to even install if you drill it out.

the back plate for the CPU mounting bracket also is a poor fit for 1150. it wont fit flush and has to be bent and forced into place.

also the software will not pick up the CPU temps correctly unless you refresh the hardware monitoring tool

Other Thoughts: Good cooling. poor false compatibility. buyer beware

I had to cut into my NXZT Source 220 case with a Dremel and mount the Kraken externally and the fans in a push configuration internally.

5 out of 5 eggsKraken X60

Pros: Love It! Does the job I expected it to do. Easy to install. Didn't have to buy it - Present from son...

Cons: Kraken Control Window will occasionally not show CPU Temp. Starting Open HWMonitor software always fixes this. Might be a "biggie" to some, but I don't find it to be.

Other Thoughts: Originally running FX-4100 OC'd to 4.8GHz with CM-212 EVO. Temps remained well under maxes running various stress software P95, IntelBurn, etc. Upgraded CPU to an FX-6350, and the CM-212 EVO wasn't up to the job.

5 out of 5 eggsFits great in a Phantom 530

Pros: Good quality build and extremely simple installation in my new Phantom 530 case.
Installation was a breeze and the instructions were good.
Looks great! Its nice not having a giant cpu heat sink hogging up my pc case.
Take the plunge into water cooling your rig, the easy way.

Cons: Not a huge con but if you have the NZXT HUE light kit, it is tricky to sync up the heat sink light with the HUE lights when you put it in the color fade mode. Other than that one mode,(which really looks great, btw), it is really easy to match up your lighting colors.

Other Thoughts: I have been tip-toeing around water cooling for some time now, due to reviews I have read on the difficulty with some kits. My hesitation was unfounded! The Kraken x60 was extremely easy to place in the case I used. It was even easier than a couple of "big air" coolers I have used in the past.
No problems with overheating or leakage and the included fans are actually pretty quiet.
It may sound like I am swilling the old NZXT Kool-Aid here but all of the products I have mentioned have been high-quality components, that fit together perfectly, all at decent prices! Win-Win, I say!

5 out of 5 eggsEverything you wanted... in a Rocket Can

Pros: 1st off, I never write reviews despite buying thousands of dollars of products from Newegg, but this liquid cooler merits proper attention.

Short version of review:
-COMPATIBLE WITH THERMALTAKE XASER VI FULL TOWER CASE *TOP MOUNTED* AND IN PUSH-PULL CONFIGURATION! (there is NO info on this on the internet... believe me, I've checked. I took the gamble and bought this beast anyway, and I'm here to share the news)
-Easily overclocks intel i7 920 to 4.2 GHz rock solid stable @ 1.35 v with max temp 68-70 using prime95.
(not a lot of info on Kraken's and i7 920's...)

Long version: (please read whole thing before installing into Xaser VI)
I was using a Coolermaster V8 air cooler for 4 years, running my i7 at 4.011 GHz. Unfortunately, Temps would quickly hit 83 while playing BF4 and well over 90 on Prime95... and this was in the dead of winter in the Great Northeast. I knew in order to survive summer, I would need to take the plunge into water...cooling. (+10 points for using a solid pun). Anyway, there is only 1 clown running around the internet saying the Kraken x60 works in the Thermaltake Xaser VI case, but he claims it needs to be installed on the bottom. Wrong. Despite the top mounted PSU, the Kraken CAN be mounted on the top. Although it wasn't hard, I wanted to provide full disclosure so that you know what you need to do.
1. Remove whatever is in your top 5.25" bay
2. obviously remove the cool little storage tray above the 1st 5.25" bay.
3. line up the radiator with tubing pointing down into the 5.25" bay (obviously the radiator hangs from the underside of the roof of the case)
4. Mark where the screw holes will go and drill out the screw holes in the top of the case (i know it sounds scary to "put holes in your case", but it seriously was easy and is 4 little holes... Plus the end results will definitely be worth your while)
5. There are little metal tabs on the xaser that used to hold the cool little plastic tray we talked about in #2. As you try to position the kraken, you'll notice these prevent the kraken from fitting above the 5.25" bay. Simply bend these metal tabs out of the way with a pliers.
6. Finally! You made it to attaching the kraken to the case. One last trick, though! You NEED TO ORIENT THE KRAKEN SO THAT THE TUBES JUT DOWN INTO THE 5.25" BAY! Because of the top mounted PSU, the PSU cords get in the way of the downward projecting tubing of the radiator. Simply place the radiator in with the tubes toward the front of the case, and it will fit! The kraken's tubing is actually long enough to pull this off! (the H110's tubing is not long enough)
NOTE #1: You'll notice the front (square) 140 mm fan hole is a nonstandard square shape that is actually too wide to line up with the holes of the kraken. Because of this, you can only attach the kraken with 4 screws instead of all 8. I assure you that this is more than enough screws as the radiator is very light. It won't move on you with 4 screws, I pro

Cons: No cons.
...So how did I get this into push pull configuration while installing this into a "non-compatible Thermaltake Xaser VI", one might ask? Simply purchase 2 Prolimatech Ultra Sleek Vortex 140 mm and attach them on the top of the roof of the case/above the radiator, and the slide cover of the Xaser can actually slide over these super slim 15 mm depth fans. Voila, Push-Pull config.

Other Thoughts: Intel i7 920 D0 @ 4.2 GHz 68-70 oC max (Prime95)
...60-62 playing BF4
...40-44 Idle with all power-saving settings turned off in Bios
...27-29 with all power-saving settings turned on
(all temps reported with fans on auto... which normally run around 40-60%)

5 out of 5 eggsKraken X60 Cooler

Pros: Easily mounts to CPU
Includes all the hardware to mount to compatible Sockets
Extra long flexible tubing
Quiet pump
no maintenance
COOL TEMPS
Includes fans to set up either push or pull config

Cons: Software to manage the device is buggy,
Software does not separately handle multiple krakens
Software custom profile maker is hard to be precise with
Included fans seem a bit loud at moderate RPM

Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with my purchase of the X60.
I have mounted it on my I7 4820k and can overclock it to around 4.6ghz with little worry.
Its mounted in an NZXT H440 Case- Topside in a pull config.
Temps stay around 70c under load. Idles down at about 38-42c. (It could run much cooler but i have the fans dialed way back to stay silent even while gaming)

If you are looking for an AIO solution to cool your CPU i would recommend this one over its competitors at the time of writing. I did a lot of research and they all perform nearly the same. But the x60 is just slightly better. It is the largest radiator available in an AIO format.

The software is my only real complaint. These coolers are all produced by ASETEK and rebranded for other companies. So NZXT spent almost no time with the actual workings of the control software. Its basically a re skinned interface from the original asetek software.

If you are managing multiple krakens (CPU & GPU) for instance, there is no way to separately program the fan curves or light effects within the management software.

To program mine separately I had to get resourceful. I left the one i wanted to adjust enabled in the device manager and disabled the other. I started the control software, I confirmed i had the right kraken enabled by toggling the light. then i programmed in the fan curves and light settings, saved them to the cooler. closed the software and repeated the steps for the other cooler.
The management software does not need to run constantly. From what I can figure- the cooler has a built in memory that the software writes to. So the cooler will retain its programming until you reset it.

Another complaint is the software will not display my cpu temp, only the loop temp. I have followed all the fixes listed in forums and from NZXT. Still no temps.

5 out of 5 eggsCool. Really cool.

Pros: Keeps my 4770k amazingly cool. No issues with performance whatsoever.

Cons: Installation is a nightmare. Not so much a nightmare as a really uncomfortable dream that involves resitting the radiator multiple times and a cheap plastic back plate.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely recommend. I really wish NZXT would put out better instructions for this.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Bad Instructions

Pros: 1. Works Great. i7-4770k@ 4.2 at under 40 Celsius during stability testing.
2. Very quiet as long as the controller and software are installed properly (see cons and other thoughts.)
3. Easy to install, if you know how (see cons and other thoughts)

Cons: The directions are next to useless for this thing, and are in many ways actually misleading.

Some important pointers:
1) When it says "Install Software Before Hardware" this is wrong. What you actually have to do is install everything except the USB header, then install the software, then install the USB header. If you don't follow this procedure the control software will never work correctly and the unit will simply run at max all of the time. This is covered in NZXT's installation video but not in the instructions.

2) When using any 115_ socket, including the 1150 you have to use the holes for 1155/1156. Note that the backplate will not be aligned square with the motherboard, but it will work. The pump will be square.

3) As soon as the screws on the pump catch the sockets on the backplate you're good. DO NOT TRY AND TIGHTEN THESE FITTINGS! YOU WILL STRIP THEM!

Other Thoughts: This is a really great product that causes frustration with it's unclear instructions which is shame because the entire point here should be to provide high end performance to less skilled users.
