5 out of 5 eggsWant a cooler GPU? Of course you do!

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: So I bought a used GTX 660 Ti for my gaming box. It's a great card, but the stock cooling isn't too good. EVGA, in their wisdom, based it on Nvidia's reference cooler. When I went to closed-loop cooling for my computer, naturally I decided I had to do the graphics card in addition to the CPU. The Kraken G10 lets you use many of the popular closed-loop solutions on the market with your card, provided your card is compatible.

My temps have dropped dramatically; I'm lucky to hit 135 degrees under full load and that's after a protracted session in Skyrim. (So I'm a bit behind the times with my game selection. Whatever.) After I'm through gaming, I idle under 100 degrees, and that's a big achievement with a graphics board. My card is factory overclocked and appears to handle the rigors of heavy gaming with aplomb; I've noticed no artifacts or other oddities since removing the stock cooler; I will admit that I was a bit concerned about cooling my VRM with only a fan and adding no cooling whatsoever to my RAM chips. I guess if the video card blows up, it's an excuse to go in for a GTX 970 ;-).

It's a lot cheaper than a graphics board with a built-in water block, and with a cooler, it's cheaper than the water block for a custom loop.

Cons: It's not a huge con, but installation is a little fiddly and you'll want to invest in that third hand (or cajole a friend into helping you) before you start. You'll definitely want something to tighten nuts with -- in a pinch, needlenose pliers work.

You will probably void your graphics board's warranty by using this bracket. Whether that's a con is up to you; my card was used and EVGA's lifetime warranty isn't transferable.

If your board is a non-reference design, the G10 probably won't work, and some AMD users will need longer screws (which NZXT supplies, but only if you contact their support department).

Other Thoughts: I recommend a better thermal grease than whatever schlock your closed-loop cooler vendor sends along with the cooler. I love Arctic Silver Ceramique 2.

I ordered the black bracket to go with my black H440 case, and I'm sure it'd look sick if I was running a case with a side window.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: It does exactly what they advertise; it mounts any asetek-patent AIO cooler to some GPUs (see official support list on NZXT's website.)
Installation is easy, although a bit finnicky for me since I am clumsy.
My Asus R9 390 8Gb would reach temps of 60c under load, which is fine during the winter, but since I live in California I felt uncomfortable knowing it could likely hit 80c under load in the summer. With the G10 installed, paired with a Corsair h105, my GPU never hits 50c under load and overclocked.
Good stuff.

Cons: The bracket really should come with VRM cooling heatsinks and thermal tape/pads. If the point is to overclock with water cooling, then why does their design completely ignore the VRM? I would gladly pay an additional 20$ for heatsinks and thermal pads to be included in the package. You can find both items on NewEgg for less than 20$ combined. Just seems like a reasonable idea for the product refresh.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to keep my GPU's nice backplate installed, so I took a dive and shaved down the non-conductive foam that comes preinstlled on the rear mounting plate as part of the G10 bracket. This of course allowed my GPU to not sag, and had no functional effect on the performance of the product.
I wish the package also came with a 2-way 4-pin PWM splitter to 5-pin GPU fan header adapter, that way the GPU can still control the aio cooler's pump and fan. Otherwise you need to get creative with how you plan to dictate the fan/pump speeds. Could be an important oversight if your motherboard has no free fan headers, or if you're unfamiliar with software such as Speedfan.
The included 92mm fan is a lot quieter than I expected it to be, which was a pleasant surprise.

5 out of 5 eggsFor what it is designed for, it is amazing.

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: -Allows you so use pretty much any asetek AIO cooler.
-Kept my GPU steady at 40C under load.
-Easy to install/Detailed instructions.

Cons: -Bulky, turns it into a 3 slot card.
-The card sag can be pretty extreme, but not dangerous to the card.

Other Thoughts: -There is reports of people not getting all the screws need for mounting the bracket, I only recieved 3/4 of the screws.
-Usually NZXT support is pretty good with getting the parts to you if contacted. You can always void warrenty and mod it for a m3 screw as well.
-Overall, if you want a watercooler gpu and have an AIO asetek cooler laying around, I'd recommend the G10.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat universal GPU cooling solution

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: * Easy install
* Good universal cooling solution
* Supplied fan is quiet

Cons: * Supplied fan is sleeve bearing
* Questionable VRM cooling for some cards
* No provided gpu fan header for supplied fan

Other Thoughts: I purchased this in an effort to allow for overclocking my MSI GTX 980ti Gaming at near silent sound levels. I decided to pair it with a Corsair H50 quiet edition AIO.

Removal of my old GTX 980ti heatsink was easy, as was installation of the G10. My only modifications to the instructions was to remove the backplate pad and replace with a thinner pad as my 980ti already had a backplate. The foam spacers also had to be cut slightly to ease installation of the bracket. Due to my case layout, the H50 needed to be mounted sideways as my other intake fans would not allow it to be mounted horizontally. This made routing the hoses in the advised location impossible, but realistically is a non issue.

The supplied fan is a sleeve bearing fan, which tend to wear out a bit faster in my experience, but at least this one is pretty quiet, even when rotating at max speeds. The fan location may not provide adequate VRM cooling on certain graphics cards, but thankfully my MSI has a front plate that eases heat distribution.

Performance when paired with the H50 is excellent. My 980ti OC'd to 1520Mhz @ 1.23v on the core and 8000 on the memory, looping Valley my max temp was 57C after 20 minutes and the OC was rock solid and never budged. With the MSI air cooler, in my sealed case I would eventually see 80C at 90% fan with the same test and the OC would drop to below 1500Mhz with temp throttling, so a vast improvement and it is very quiet.

Overall I am pleased with the G10. Is it perfect? No, but as a universal solution it does a great job.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: Bolted on with ease, held the Corsair H50 to my PNY970(VCGGTX9704XPB) with no problems.

Cons: My card was to short for the fan to blow onto it. NOT a problem with the G10. It did say it wasn't compatible on there web site, thought I might be able to make it work. The fan ends up just past the PCB so it would help move air around in the case, but not blow on the VRM.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for Price

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: Keeps my card much cooler, < 38c idle. Looks great and fit as described. Runs great with an H55 Corsair Cooler.

Cons: I would give this 5 eggs but this was not 2 min worth of work. the mounting screws would not lock as needed and required some creative crafting.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent if modified

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: Fitted this onto an EVGA GTX 660Ti

-Allows me to attach my Corsair H55 which lowers my idle temp to 26°C and my temps under full load never get over 36°C with my pump running about 30%. See other thoughts.

-Simple design and construction.

Cons: -Only compatible with certain cards.

-Included fan is very sub-par. Cheap, loud, and doesn't move a lot of air.

-A bit pricey for what you get. 30 bucks plus S&H seems a bit high.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am happy with this purchase. The bracket did not exactly fit my 660 Ti, and the VRAM fan suspended over the back of the card, cooling nothing. This also left VRAM uncooled. To work around these, I decided to simply cut the bracket in half and only use the water pump block. This worked spectacularly and my GPU temps never get into the 40 degree ranges.

To deal with the VRAM cooling, I purchased an 80mm case fan from Thermaltake model AF0043 which is a very very quiet fan for its size, and has good longevity. I attached it to the card directly over the VRAM with some clever plastic stand-offs and zip ties. I have a thermal sensor right on my VRAM and idle temps hover about 28°C and again never go into the 40s.

All in all I probably over paid for what this bracket really does, and could have saved a few bucks if they would release a product that does not include the useless fan and instead just had the cooler backplate. I am happy with the results. Near-Room Temperature and more quiet than my refridgerator in the other room.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer

We appreciate the feedback on our kraken g10 cooling unit. The kraken g10 is compatible with a variety of cards with the reference design layout for both NVidia GPU’s and AMD. As for the fan it is a 92 mm fan that is offered with the fan itself which can be changed out with an 80 mm fan. If at all any of the parts do break over time or you need replacement assistance. Please visit support.nzxt.com at the top right you will see a submit request button. Also we would need an invoice from the place of purchase for the unit. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to call us at +1-800-228-9395.

Kind regards,
NZXT Support.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap bracket

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: Pros- Allows you to attach watercooler to GPU....
Paint finish was good
not a flimsy peice

Cons: There is really only 2 cons with this product..

As reported by MANY other people, the quality control for this product is low... example....

All of the screw holes in the bracket are the correct size..before nzxt paints the piece...

Once it is painted (and apparently not quality/sized checked afterwards)... the paint makes the hole too small to fithe supplied screws.
This requires you to try and drill the holes out and make sure they are the correct size. Very silly that they would overlook this... I would rather pay $5-10 more than sit here and have to mess with the bracket just to things to fit.

Vram cooling- This has been talked about quite a bit.. but it is safe to say that for most V cards... it is a good idea to buy some cheap small heatsinks and put them on the vram. The small, slow and cheap fan they provide for Vram coolingis pathetic. Nzxt claims the supplied fan is enough... but they also claim that everything should fit...which it doesnt..

Just keep that in mind.

Other Thoughts: Overall.... its a nice piece.. it just has its small flaws..low quality

The idea is quite simple... im surprised other manufacturers haven't gotten involved in this..

It works.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, if you know what to expect

This review is from: NZXT RL-KRG10-B1 Sleeve Kraken G10 GPU Bracket

Pros: Dropped my typical max temps to ~61 C, even when hammering the GPU with ENB-enabled Skyrim, or Crysis 3 at max everything.

Cons: I have no gripe with the bracket itself. Its simple, and works as intended. The VRM cooling leaves much to be desired, and this is where research is so important. Check if your card has VRM heatsinks already. Mine did. If not, do some Googling and find some for your particular card.

Purchase RAM heatsinks for your card. They're not entirely cheap, but they will really help keep those components cool. I went from having artifacts at a mild overclock, to no issues and low temps with 100mhz over stock with heatsinks.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this along with a PowerColor 290x. The card, even with PowerColor's admittedly very good cooler, was a loud space heater.

I did my research, and also bought some RAM heatsinks for the card. My video card already came with VRM heatsinks, but if your card does not, I strongly recommend purchasing some!!
