2 out of 5 eggsToo wide for some socket 370 motherboards

Pros: It comes with a quiet fan that I was able to mount onto the existing heat sink.

Cons: This heat sink is too large to fit a Chaintech 6WIV socket 370 motherboard. It doesn't clear the capacitors on both sides of the CPU socket. I had to reuse the existing heat sink and mount the 40mm fan from this new heat sink onto it.

Other Thoughts: It is August of 2014 and I bought this component to replace a faulty fan on a 15 year old Chaintech 6WIV with a socket 370 Pentium III E 750Mhz CPU that I intend to use as a Windows 98 vintage gaming computer. I was able to use the fan and thermal compound on the existing heat sink. I was able to get the CPU temp down 15 degrees C.

1 out of 5 eggsWHAT ARE THEY THINKING

Pros: Nice ball bearings Quality part

Cons: Great part for a CPU cooler used in a fifteen year old computer. What does anyone need a part like this for? Windows XP just went out? This part is great for a computer running four of them or Windows 95 - 98 with a single cpu?

Other Thoughts: I have no idea what to think about this. The only thing is New egg trying to get rid of them by putting them on sale just to make a buck. Who in the heck needs this junk?? My brother in law was trying to help me out but he didn't realize what the heck he told me to buy. !!

3 out of 5 eggsVery noisy

Pros: Inexpensive, compatible with older sockets.

Cons: Very noisy, fan vibrates whole case, holding spring isn't very tight.

Other Thoughts: Used one of these for an old PIII system I was resurrecting with Linux. It made the whole case vibrate. It was a noticeable and annoying hum with the case fully assembled, it was intolerable with the side panel off. Finally had to replace it with something quieter.

5 out of 5 eggshahhahaha

Pros: this item did not go into some rig it went into some crazy light show thing I built. this was blowing air into it. Well it did it quite well.

Cons: well used heat sink for something else and was disjointedness, the metal thing kept popping out of the slots I made :( would prefer screws instead or some better way but it is not con that will knock 1 egg off

2 out of 5 eggsFailed

Pros: Cheap, small, effective.

Cons: Died after 10 months. Fan started moaning, processor overheated. Thankfully the processor is still OK.

Other Thoughts: I was very happy with this thing for 10 months. Worked well and was relatively silent. Of course, I'm looking to get a bit more life out of an HSF. I guess I can't complain too much, it was super cheap.

3 out of 5 eggsVintage Hardware

Pros: Inexpensive. Solid aluminum design. Not easy to find a heatsink for a dell Pentium III !!!

Cons: Fan is loud all the time. Clip is very small / weak. once seated the heatsink can still wiggle around some.

Other Thoughts: would be a five egg product with a bigger, quieter fan and a better retention clip. I can't really complain for how dirt cheap it is though. old Pentium 3 dell machine is actually quite fast with a new hard disk and linux.

5 out of 5 eggssimple and efficient

Pros: Cheap, silent and simple to install. worked right away.
Came with a layer of thermal paste, so no messing around with your own paste.

Cons: At this price, no complaints !!!

Other Thoughts: Got this to replace an aging and noisy Celeron stock fan.
