3 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: Its a fan and heatsink. I needed one after the stock one broke.
It looks cool.

Cons: This thing is junk. It keeps my 3.2 P4 at 70c idle. The stock fan was better than this believe it or not.

This thing is very LOUD.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line, due to the loudness and lack luster heat dissipation of this product - it's junk. I could have rigged a better heat sink and fan..

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Copper heatsink, perfect for an older system. I have mine on an 478 Motherboard running XP. It's great. Got me some new wind in my sails on the old system. Easy, Easy install on my old ABIT IC7 Max3.
Got my system running right again.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWorks if you need one this old

Pros: This CPU cooler was bound for a special motherboard that takes Core 2 Duo Mobile chips but has a standard Socket 478 heat sink mount. Most Pentium IV coolers like to go edge to edge with the plastic, which means you can't get the heat sink down below the top of the plastic surrounding the CPU opening. I bought this one because it has the corners cut out of it so I could get it to the CPU which doesn't have the small heat spreader on it. This let me get the heat sink to the CPU Die, so I could actually have cooling.

Once the "editing" had been completed (See Other thoughts) and the heat sink was making contact with the die, it performed as well as I expected it to given the situation it's in. Shoved in a small form factor case that was then shoved into an Arcade machine, the CPU cooler keeps the CPU below 50C at all times. This is a Core 2 Duo Mobile chip, so that's not saying much until you realize exactly how hot it gets where I'm sticking this poor thing.

Cons: It comes with thermal paste that isn't the greatest. I used it anyway, because I'm not using a Pentium 4 chip, I'm using a much cooler Core 2 Duo Mobile chip. If you're putting this on a Pentium 4, you might consider putting better thermal paste between the CPU and this heat sink. Just don't forget to remove the thermal paste from the heat sink before hand.

Other Thoughts: I had to "edit" (read: Hack up a ton) the heat sink mount included with the motherboard. This included 45 minutes in the back yard with sand paper and a hobby knife. While the corners are cut off, they aren't cut off far enough for it to be a drop and go solution to my problem. Thankfully the heat sink was still more than applicable to my situation once I had taken some tools to my heat sink mount. It didn't cost too much, and fits where I need it now that I've done horrible things to the plastic it attaches to.

4 out of 5 eggsCooling Fan

Pros: Fine fan, runs quiet enough..what you'd expect from that size of fan. It compares to my case fan for sound.

Fit fine, included pre-applied conductive grease for installation out of the box.

nice copper heat sink

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Keeps Prescott 3.4 running below 50C and is quiet. This replaced an Intel fan that had the CPU going towards 65C. Great buy!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you have a P4 Prescott known for running hot this is your fan.

5 out of 5 eggsKeps my sons P4 3.4 ghz processor cool

Pros: I got this cooling fan to replace the one that had been in this Rig for Years (This was at one time my own Hi-End Rig witch was eventually passed down to my eldest Son 2 weeks ago). The old fan could no longer cool The Hi end P4 3.4ghz processor (Witch for this generation of CPU's, was essentially the max except for the 2mb cache version of this processor for this socket) and would shutdown the PC after an hour or two of use. Since P4 socket 478 fans of quality are now getting harder to find (Since the 478 socket was discontinued in 2005 for the LG 775 socket). On the strengh of the reviews for this CPU cooling fan I went ahead and ordered it and so far I have been very happy with the results. It was extremly easy to install (It has 2 clips that latch right on to the Mother boards CPU housing) and once installed turned on right away. I even left it on for almost 24 hours with it never shutting off once.

Cons: The only slight con I have it is a little noisy, but it is not enough for me to knck an egg off for.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very pleased with the results of this fan and would diffiantly recommend buying it. It has breathed no life into my one time Top of the Line gaming Rig PC that my son is now thourghly enjoying with his games (Luckly most of the games he has still works with this class of RIG, with 1 or 2 exceltions of course) and hopefully will get a couple more years out of it.

Computer Specs:
P4 3.4GHZ socket 478, 1 MB cache processor
1gb Intel Intergrated NIC
Edimax Wireless PCI Card
4GB of DDR1 400mhz PC3200 RAM
680W Power Supply
SoundMAx 2.1 Stereo Intergrated Sound Card
24bit 5.1 Creative Sound Card (Not used at att)
ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP
Windows 7 Professional SP1 (32 bit)

Cons: Not whisper quiet.

Other Thoughts: I use fan speed controller to extend fan life and minimize noise.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for Vaio W600G

Pros: Great cooling even for a all in one system such as the Vaio W600G. Took temps from stock cooler at 60 at idle to 57 under full load. Had to make a few modifications to the case, but well worth it.

Cons: NONE!!!

Other Thoughts: If you need an older cpu fan this is the one to get. I got this old system from someone and this little cpu cooler has been great!!! The system I put it in is a pcv-W600G all in one desktop. I had to cut out a section on the case behind the screen, but no big deal you can't see it anyways, and it made a huge difference in temps. Also, VERY QUIET!!

5 out of 5 eggsReady To Go Out Of The Box

Pros: using this product on a "Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (Prescott)" Fit right in place very little effort needed already had Thermal Compound applied to bottom of heatsink. Ready to go out of the box just take off the plastic cover and bent the claps just a bit as the fit was a little to snug could only get one clasp on without bending clasps. beside that turn on PC and it went from a start of 50c "Normal Old Fan" to 40c my CPU ran a average of 60-74c Plus! But now it's running no higher then 50-57 very good product my case fan in louder then the Fan on this Heatsink

Cons: N/A as i don't consider bending the clasp to be a con as if everything went without a hitch this product would be to good to be true

Other Thoughts: I also bought "Arctic Silver Ceramique Thermal Compound - OEM" but at this time i have not applied it as the Thermal Compound that the heatsink came with is doing the job just fine. Also you can blame the laziness to apply this product on the ease of installation lol but at least i have the Arctic Silver if i need it
