1 out of 5 eggsMASSCOOL 8WA740 CPU cooler

Pros: The only one is the Fan works.

Cons: I bought it and disregarded all the "Negative feedback" because it looked solid and would do the job, installed in a PCChips MOBO/Pent4 LGA 775 3.6 Gb. CPU, Boy was I wrong. At idle load it ran @ 75C/167F fully seated & using Artic Silver Ceramique thermal comp. I then Re-installed with plain Artic silver Therm paste and disconnected the Smart monitoring connection and run the Fan all out 4300 R.P.M.the Temp. dropped to 73C/163F this is one "Terrible" CPU cooler, I'm not sure it'll even cool a Low End CPU and I'm lucky the processor didn't burn up. By the way don't bother contacting Tech. Assistance because it's non-existant,Sent E-Mails (no reply) Called (Got message no one available to assist, leave message will get back to you)left message with problem, still no call back. This is the lousiest CPU Cooler I have ever seen "Stay Away" from,it is poorly engineered and won't do the job.

Other Thoughts: I stepped up to the MASSCOOL 8WA741 CPU Cooler and its working satisfactory, CPU @ idle is running @ 43C/109F. It is big and bulky but it gets the job done.Newegg would be doing themselves and their customers a big favor by pulling this product off the Market.

2 out of 5 eggsnot a bit better than the stock heatsink

Pros: none

Cons: big, heavy, bulky
specs say 80cfm.
i think that is either a typo or a lie.

Other Thoughts: don't waste $$ on this

2 out of 5 eggsNot good for Core 2 Duo

Pros: This may be good for low-end, or slow processors. Looks impressive by the size and the fancy copper tubing.

Cons: I bought two of these and installed each on 2 different PCs, that had 2.2gHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
The fan ran at 100% and the temperatures were ar 159°F while the PCs were idle.

Other Thoughts: Use the cooling/Fan that come with the processor before deciding on getting this item

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price, Better Cooling

Pros: This is a great heatsink. I use it for my e6550 @ 2.33GHz stock and it runs at 28C idle to maybe 40C load, so I am very happy. This is my first build so I guess I am lucky that I chose well. It is surprisingly quiet also, at least when not at 100%.

Cons: The only problem I had with it was during installation. The bracket was poorly designed IMHO. The bracket has tiny lil nuts that aren't connected very well and will fall off if you are too rough with them. And I mean they are TINY! If you lose on in the carpet you better find a good magnet.

Other Thoughts: The power connector could use another inch or two in length.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeping me cool.

Pros: Easy to install and keeping me cool. Temps are staying around 30*C with a E8400 processor and Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 motherboard. Under a load I have not gotten above 45*C yet and have stress tested it for a while to make sure it was not going to let my CPU get hot.

Cons: None YET.

5 out of 5 eggsMASSCOOL 8WA740

Pros: heatpipe construction conducts heat better than copper, heatpipes bring CPU temps outside for measurement, 4-wire fan reduces noise, thermal resistance 0.2277°C/W means 23deg rise per 100W heat

Cons: could have more thermal mass to slow down changes

Other Thoughts: Now uses standard plastic clips like Intel. All heatsink installs require care. Clips must firmly snap in place and can seem set yet not be so. Needs good airflow directly from outside. Orient the heatpipes to be fairly horizontal in operation. Thermal grease should be very thin, a wild-rice-size total amount. Prevent air bubbles by placing tiny mound in center of processor to squish out flat. Gently wiggle HS to distribute grease until all clips click in and no wiggle is possible. Reinstall if not cooling well.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Cooling

Pros: Excellent Cooling on my Dual Core smithfield Intel 2.66 805 LGA 775 CPU 533mhz overclocked to 3gigs 600mgz, core temps 29 fh no load 49 fh on both cores each full load tested for 1/2 hour. Very Easy install, much better than the Intel Oem cooler.

Cons: 0-cons

Other Thoughts: great cooler for the price, mascool out preforms OEM

1 out of 5 eggsMasscool 8WA740

Pros: Don't see any

Cons: The snap in base hold down studs are total junk. One broke before I ever got it mounted to the board. Lightweight plastic pins are pathetic. Total piece of junk only good for using as an ugly paper weight.

2 out of 5 eggsPiece of JUNK!!!!!!

Pros: None

Cons: It may cool other CPUs but not my Pentuim D dual core (2x 2.66Ghz). Keeps it at around 52o C when it's not under full load and 59o C under full load.

Other Thoughts: Don't recomend it for dual cores but it works great for my celeron d 3.2Ghz single core. but if you do buy this product DO NOT use the thermal paste it already has on it. It turns to dust after about a weeks use.

4 out of 5 eggsHUGE!!

Pros: Don't know yet, just installed. Need to repair XP cause I put new mobo and CPU in it too.

Cons: Like the Borg ship of CPU fans. Really, like a central A/C unit on my mobo. Takes up a lot of space on my micro ATX board. Couldn't reach hand around to put screws in mobo. Had to superglue screw to screwdriver to get it in. Really loud, like a vacuum cleaner!!

Other Thoughts: If this thing with it's radiator tubing and air compressors, etc doesn't cool off my pentium d 930, nothing will...
