3 out of 5 eggsGood at first, but then

Pros: It worked well for a while, and the casing is pretty surable.

Cons: After a few weeks the fans started to make this TERRIBLE grinding sound, so I uninstalled it and will send it back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Solid, sturdy, lots of contact area, lots of surface area on the heat sink portion. Surface area equals better cooling! Most people complain about the noise from fans, but I barely notice it anyway, by rig has 4 other (much bigger) eternal fans and at least three internal ones. Even with all these fans my rig has a quiet calm hum all the time, not nearly as dramatic as what the other reviews are saying.

Cons: This thing is pretty big, if your rig has a built in bay for hard drives you won't be able to use it with this. Make sure there is enough room on your face panel before buying, you will need a slot as big as a disk drive to fit it in.

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the money, a great buy. It is a super fit to my hdd and the blue LED matches with the rest of my rig's LED

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I expected

Pros: The apparatus feels solid and heavily, not made out of some cheap material. My HDD fit right in no problem, the hold is tight enough to provide good contact but loose enough to allow for the costumer to easily remove or insert the drive.
The fans drive the air across the contact surface wonderfully, the thing is a very well designed heat sink and a lot of surface area is exposed for the air.

Cons: This rig is big, you might need to make a little room for it in your case if you are running a mid tower. Luckily my tower has a face plate with removable segmentation to allow for such modifications.

Other Thoughts: Definately worth the buy, this thing is solid.

2 out of 5 eggsFans bring the product down

Pros: Good use of the upper bays to add a hard drive. Heatsink itself was a nice fit and seemed to work,,,in cinjunction with the noisy fans (see Cons).

Cons: Fans buzz like crazy during startup, and one of them became annoyingly loud while running after a month. I uninstalled after that.

Other Thoughts: I bought to cool an additional hard drive in my WHS. A server should just be a gentle whooshing sound,,,no harsh buzzing or loud whirring. I ended up replacing with a competitor that had a 3 in 1 solution and a larger, quieter fan.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does it's job as needed.

Cons: The fans are slightly louder during boot-up. They quiet down after a while, but it IS very annoying. I've had to adjust them, but after a while the problem returns.. I recommend investing in some higher quality fans.

3 out of 5 eggsSolution for fan life & noise

Pros: The heat sink is nice. The fans can be quieted down and last much longer if you switch the power to the fans to the 5V pin on the molex connector. The LED's won't be near as bothersome and the fans will be much quieter. They will move less air but not much air flow is needed. Have done this with many HD bays. And fans that would normally only last a week to a month are still running for me after over a year of use.

Cons: What ever happened to product testing and reliability. Molex pins can be a pain to switch. I use little jewelers flat screwdrivers to bend in the retaining tabs, slide out the pins and bend the tabs back and reverse the red and yellow wires.

4 out of 5 eggsnoticably cools, fans way too loud

Pros: Liked this product, temps are down about 5C and noticably cooler then a similiar seagate below it. maybe I missed it, but this also comes with the ability to mount many different fan options underneath the drive, with brackets and hardware included. I also liked the large thermal pad that came with it.

Running a WD Caviar black 2TB for use in a home server, running IIS, FTP and Hyper-V roles.

Cons: Blue LED's aren't needed, as other have mentioned way too loud. I installed some mini kaze's in there and the noise range is more acceptable. I also wish the fan cables ran a little longer then right to the edge of the back of the drive.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: easy assembly. thats the only good thing i can say about it

Cons: piece of garbage fans went haywire and started making reving noise and slowing down and ratteling. my 30days to get it replaced is over. if you need extra cooling or extra space, dont buy this. i got 2 of them. luckely i didnt use 1 of them so ill prbly get 2 more months before i have to take that one out.

Other Thoughts: it is a good designe but its cheaply made, i had a hard time putting it in my case because the fans wernt secured properly and they were leaning towards the front and i had to force it into a proper position to get it in. all in all it was a bad experience using and trying to install it. putting it together was pretty simple

5 out of 5 eggsWorks good, looks great!

Pros: Bought this along with a new HDD when I updated my desktop. I had a 3 fan plastic cooler that didn't match my case at all but seemed like it made a difference so I was willing to put up with the ugliness of it. But now that I have this cooler I will be buying several more for future upgrades! The heat-sink they included for the top of the HDD looks and works great, and the blue LED fans are a nice touch. I am sorry I ever bought the plastic junk I had before this one!

Cons: It seems loud to me, but that may be because all the other fans in my PC are SilenX units so the only ones I can really hear are the 2 - 40mm fans in this unit. Also there is no filter of any kind so I am sure it will pick up dust, but I am not afraid of canned air so I don't see it being a problem.

Other Thoughts: Some of the text on the box seems like it was badly translated... kind of amusing.
