2 out of 5 eggsGet your Dremel ready

Pros: Price, thermal paste already applied, runs relatively quiet. It does keep my cpu cooler than the old one and the reason its quieter is because I got accustomed to the grinding noise of my old one. In reality, its probably just as quiet as any other cpu fan.

Cons: INSTALLATION, be ready to use a dremel to grind away the corner edges of the bottom fins. The latching mechanism required a lot of force to lock the second edge down.

Other Thoughts: I started to send it back but the shipping alone was almost the same as the heatsink. Dont be dissuaded if it does not fit properly, it probably wont. Just see where the edges contact the socket and use a dremel to grind away some of the bottom fin corners. DO NOT USE CUTTERS. Make a mental note to yourself that if you get this to work - NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE AGAIN.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Basic OEM style fan. Works as expected.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is a standard OEM style fan and heatsink. Works as described. Seems like a quality part.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat little cooler

Pros: Cheap. Cools great. Keeps my Athlon II x2 at 30C and very stable. Highest I've seen it go through my tests is 35C

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Makes a little noise but what fan doesn't. Great fan to get a little bit more than a stock cooler and/or for an OEM processor.

The machine it's in is not for gaming and to just do some work and watch movies it's perfect.

4 out of 5 eggs939 Fitment issues

Pros: Low price, similar to OEM. Low profile, ball bearing fan.

Cons: Did not fit properly into the socket. I had to get the Dremel out to trim it down. More annoying that anything else, but I suppose that comes with the price point.

Other Thoughts: MassCool either has shoddy tolerances, bad data, or just doesn't care about an old, outdated socket. On the other hand, this is a cheap heatsink for an OEM application. I hope it doesn't conk out on my client; I should have chosen a heatsink of higher quality. Lessons learned.

Cons: not a good choice for heavy gaming but thats not what i do anyways

Other Thoughts: if you don't do any heavy gaming or heavy graphic production then yes buy this one

4 out of 5 eggsBetter

Pros: This is an unusual design............ But it runs cooler than the stock AMD fan and heatsink.

Cons: Had to bend fins a little to make it fit......no big deal!

Other Thoughts: AMD 5000 chip......... Overclocked

4 out of 5 eggsGood, But not for AM3

Pros: Quiet, Cools effectively

Cons: Had to be modified to fit AM3. Had to bend some fins to fit.

Other Thoughts: Listed as supporting AM2. Didn't realize there was a difference.

4 out of 5 eggsBasic

Pros: Inexpensive OEM Replacement.
This is as good as the free fan you get with the purchase of a new CPU. If your free fan took a dump, this is a great direct replacement.

Cons: BASIC BASIC BASIC. Not really a con, but, this is just your super basic factory replacement fan. Nothing crazy.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect miracles with this fan. This setup is the most basic type you can get. It should get you between 35-65c with athlon type setups. If you are a gamer or use it for heavy load, invest a little more money and upgrade to a better suited fan/heatsink. You will be glad you did.

2 out of 5 eggsTough fit on S754

Pros: - Cheap
- Cools well enough (no worse than stock HSF!)

Cons: - Slightly too wide for socket 754
- Fan makes rattling noise

Other Thoughts: I have two socket 754 motherboards (Asus K8V, MSI K8N), and both had problems fitting this cooler. The plastic bracket that surrounds the socket is about 0.5-1mm smaller than the width of the heatsink. I was going to buy a file to file away some of the fins, but then I tried to insert it one end at a time -- I started with one end, while pushing the HSF (against the plastic bracket on the motherboard) towards that end. That got the plastic bracket on the motherboard to expand slightly and I was able to insert the other end and mount it. This was easier to accomplish on the MSI board than on the Asus, so I guess the precise width of these sockets varies.

The other problem is that the fan makes an annoying rattling noise at top speed. Using software you can reduce its speed without affecting temperatures much, so it's not so bad.
