1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: It didn't injure me.

Cons: Computer tech for the past 14 years...this product is the poorly designed. It broke the CPU retention bracket when trying to lock the heatsink down. Replaced the retention bracket with a brand new one and still won't lock correctly. As soon as I let go of the lock, it snaps backwards. Replaced it with another brand and it works great.

3 out of 5 eggsgood and bad

Pros: great budget heatsink though it requires filing down a bit for some s754 and 939 boards, the fan however is another story entirely.

Cons: The fan that comes installed on this is garbage. Its really low rpm so its silent, but it dont move much air either. so slow in fact that this thing overheated and shut down on a ATHLON64 3400+ JUST WATCHING YOUTUBE it /might/ move enough air for an air-conditioned office, and a socket am2 sempron or possibly an athlon le-1640, but even that is pushing it. My temps were around 55c idle with the fan that comes on this thing

Other Thoughts: if you want this to cool properly get one of those vantec tornados (80mm) and replace the fan that comes on this heatsink with one of those. dropped my temps right down to 39c idle in a relatavely hot (80f) unairconditioned room.

Athlon64 s939 venice, 3400+ @ 2305mhz,, 1.41vcore (bumped from stock 1.39)
radeon hd5450gpu, 550w psu, 2gb (4x512mb) ddr 400 pc3200 mushkin ram @ 3,3,3,8, 1T
Raidmax mid tower case,20" lcd via HDMI
USB wifi 80211/N adapter
laser mouse and wireless keyboard
LG BD/R /dvd/r combo drive
WD raptor hdd
Wired Xbox 360 controller connected via usb for older games (Halo and Mechwarrior mainly)
Windows 7 home premium x86
Its plenty fast for day to day web browsing and watching movies, and light gaming (Old stuff like Halo: COmbat Evolved and Custom Edition, Mechwarrior 3/Pirates moon, and Command and conquer: Tiberian sun/Firestorm, which have issues running smoothly on newer hardware.) Its a dinosaur compared to my thuban X6 but it does what I need it to, and runs rock solid stable 24/7 with the slight overclock (2305mhz vs factory default 2200) WEI is 4.1

2 out of 5 eggsGet your Dremel ready

Pros: Price, thermal paste already applied, runs relatively quiet. It does keep my cpu cooler than the old one and the reason its quieter is because I got accustomed to the grinding noise of my old one. In reality, its probably just as quiet as any other cpu fan.

Cons: INSTALLATION, be ready to use a dremel to grind away the corner edges of the bottom fins. The latching mechanism required a lot of force to lock the second edge down.

Other Thoughts: I started to send it back but the shipping alone was almost the same as the heatsink. Dont be dissuaded if it does not fit properly, it probably wont. Just see where the edges contact the socket and use a dremel to grind away some of the bottom fin corners. DO NOT USE CUTTERS. Make a mental note to yourself that if you get this to work - NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE AGAIN.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Basic OEM style fan. Works as expected.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is a standard OEM style fan and heatsink. Works as described. Seems like a quality part.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat little cooler

Pros: Cheap. Cools great. Keeps my Athlon II x2 at 30C and very stable. Highest I've seen it go through my tests is 35C

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Makes a little noise but what fan doesn't. Great fan to get a little bit more than a stock cooler and/or for an OEM processor.

The machine it's in is not for gaming and to just do some work and watch movies it's perfect.

4 out of 5 eggs939 Fitment issues

Pros: Low price, similar to OEM. Low profile, ball bearing fan.

Cons: Did not fit properly into the socket. I had to get the Dremel out to trim it down. More annoying that anything else, but I suppose that comes with the price point.

Other Thoughts: MassCool either has shoddy tolerances, bad data, or just doesn't care about an old, outdated socket. On the other hand, this is a cheap heatsink for an OEM application. I hope it doesn't conk out on my client; I should have chosen a heatsink of higher quality. Lessons learned.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter

Pros: This is an unusual design............ But it runs cooler than the stock AMD fan and heatsink.

Cons: Had to bend fins a little to make it fit......no big deal!

Other Thoughts: AMD 5000 chip......... Overclocked

4 out of 5 eggsGood, But not for AM3

Pros: Quiet, Cools effectively

Cons: Had to be modified to fit AM3. Had to bend some fins to fit.

Other Thoughts: Listed as supporting AM2. Didn't realize there was a difference.
