I need a new heatsink fan and the one in my Gateway PC is TaiSol, it's a LGA775 and I was told THIS one would work, by a friend, however;... mine is square, with a cone that only fits a square one, and mine has the "short" pins, with a tiny end that screws in to motherboard. This motherboard does not have brackets;... just has the threaded circle in hole to screw the pin in to. These pins are very LONG, and I can't tell, but appears to have a "longer" threaded end, which I'm afraid may not work.... and wouldn't be able to use the cone I have. Could you please help me answer this question, so I can buy this one from your site, or maybe you have another that IS better for what I need and can tell me that. Any branded PC's, like Gateway and Dell have their own versions of locking down heatsinks onto the motherboard.

From my experience, the black bracket you see in the picture replaces the bracket behind your motherboard, but again, I'm not sure if it'll work on branded PC's. If you can find out that the Gateway's bracket is removable, then yes, you may replace their entire heatsink with this one. It's proprietary, and should fit onto any motherboard. There are thumb screws supplied too, which should help with the height problem.
