4 out of 5 eggsAffordable Cooler

Pros: It keeps the CPU cool, and its Quiet.

Cons: No lights to make it Pretty

Other Thoughts: Its your basic run of the mill cooler, if you don't plan on overclocking, you cant beat the price.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the money.

Pros: Back-plate with mounting screws. Replaced stock Intel fan on dual core processor. Heat had softened and stretched plastic anchors. This product ensured proper contact and cooling. It's quiet, and the taller heat-sink provided more efficient cooling to the chipset heat-sink next to it.

Cons: I can't think of a single one. Some people might have issue with the unit having a 3 prong fan connector, instead of four, but I do not have a problem with it. It will still fit on the 4 prong motherboard connector with one prong not being used.

Other Thoughts: I've replaced several stock cpu coolers with this type across several different socket types and have never been disappointed with the performance. My experience is with stock performance as I do not overclock.

3 out of 5 eggsOk Fan

Pros: Kept the cpu cool.

Cons: Died in less than 2 years. Which is over the warrenty but i have had many fans run for wayyyyyy over 2 years so i kind think that it is a little junky but not to mad about it. Im not actually sure when it died because the case fans kept it cool. And i never monitor its temps.

This fan was used in a homeserver so i paid it no attention unless there is an issue. When i opened it up to put in a tv tuner i found that the cpu fan was not working. Luckly the server is in a case with a lot of case fans so it kept working without a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Basic Replacement

Pros: It's easy to install, taking me less than 2 minutes to apply the thermal paste (Arctic Silver's basic ceramic paste), bracket and screws. The heatsink and fan are slightly larger than the stock fan, running quietly on Idle: 41 degrees Celsius & Max: 61 degrees Celsius.

Cons: It's not a copper based heatsink; all aluminum. The heatsink block is circular and smaller in diameter than the area of the cpu, which makes me feeling uneasy about this item. The provided thermal paste is simply not enough to "bond" the heatsink onto the cpu (luckily, I've purchased a large amount of Arctic Silver Ceramic Paste). It contains a 3-pin power plug to the motherboard, which means its fan-speed cannot be controlled directly from the computer and would require a separate fan-speed-controller (it's not necessary, but it's nice to know).

Other Thoughts: Although there are more cons to this product than pros, one must realize that this is just a simple Heatsink & Fan, not an overclocking liquid cooling component. This is great for a basic replacement if you decide to upgrade the stock fan to something that delivers a slightly better performance or an added investment to keep your cpu from overheating.

My stock fan was long-overdue for a replacement and it was no longer capable of cooling down the cpu that resulted in multiple overheat shutdowns.

This Masscool heatsink & fan combination only comes in two pieces: the mounting bracket and the fan attached heatsink, making the installation very easy and painless. The bracket fit exactly on the motherboard's mounting holes and the screws were made to position precisely onto mounting bracket, making this installation a breeze.

Do take into consideration that this product is slightly larger than the stock cooler, you may want to reroute your wires to avoid any contact with the cpu fan. Plus, have some extra thermal paste handy because this product gives you the bare minimum amount.

Personally, I like this product over my stock cooler, because it contains metal screws and mounts, using tension springs to hold the heatsink in place on top of the cpu rather than Intel's stock cooler that uses plastic snap-on pins that warps & breaks over time.

Overall I like it this product.

3 out of 5 eggsbetter then the stock Q2C Cooler

Pros: Lower the temps on my Q9300 by 10c.

Cons: Fan started making bad bearing noises after 3 days of use. There is no bottom plate that presses against the CPU. Seemed weird. What do you expect for 10 bucks though.

Other Thoughts: I ended up getting a water cooler.

Cons: Short life.

Other Thoughts: 1st one last maybe 3 months, so i bought 2 more like a dummy 2nd one lasted 2 days, now i got my 3rd one in but I'm going to order a better one because I'm sure this one wont last long... Cheap price but remember you get what you pay for.
