Tuniq CR-PRO120-BK 120mm Magnetic Fluid Dynamic Bearing Propeller 120 CPU Cooler

  • 90.65 CFM (Max)
ICON Loading...

The Tuniq Propeller 120 CPU cooler took its visual inspiration from the mighty aircraft carriers. The four specially designed smooth-curving heatpipes are both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. The 120mm MFDB fan blows downward and is one of the best performing fans on the market; and when matched with the four specially designed heatpipes, the Propeller 120 is able to achieve the same top level performance of competing designs with eight heatpipes. We have also included the top performing TX-3 thermal compound and a fan controller to maximize performance and flexibility.

  • newegg MFDB Fan The 120mm MFDB (Magnetic Fluid Dynamic Bearing) fan arrives at ultra-silent low-noise level of 16dBA and realizes the outstanding long life of 50,000 hours.
  • newegg Unique Design for Heatpipe Adopting the core-contact technology, the squashed heatpipe as the base directly conducts the heat from CPU for maximizing the heat transferring. In addition, the unique alignment of the three 8mm and two 6mm U-shaped heatpipes significantly enhances the heat dispersing performance.
  • newegg TX-3 Thermal Grease Included The thermal grease supports for a better contact between heatsink and heatsource. In addition, the thin bond line realizes hi-efficiency conductivity for superior heat transfer.
  • newegg Fan Controller Included The included fan control bracket features a manual fan-speed control dial for convenient adjustments of fan speeds.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the Tuniq CR-PRO120-BK CPU cooler features broad compatibility with all AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2, AM2+, AM3 and Intel LGA775, 1156 (1156 backplate set required) and 1366 platforms.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOMEE!!

Pros: This cooler is really amazing,, my cpu idles at 21 - 22 degrees Celsius. At full load with prime 95 for around 10 hours with my amd x3 core 2.6GHz @2.9GHz it wouldn't go over 41 degrees Celsius!!! To me thats amazing

Also the fan speed controller was very nice,, even though the fan is not loud at all.

AND it was really simple and easy to install.

Cons: cons?? I think not

Other Thoughts: GREAT COOLER
BUY IT

4 out of 5 eggsTuniq Heat Sink, and Lots of It.

Pros: This thing cools well and fits nicely. It brought down both my idle and load temperatures, and it looks pretty wicked if you care about that sort of thing. It has a small base footprint and doesnt start expanding out until it's well clear of your RAM (just make sure to put it in BEFORE your RAM, because you will -not- be able to reach the screws if your memory is in... and you don't want to take it out cause you're lazy like me... :D). And to top it all off, even on the maximum setting, it's quite silent...

AND it comes with a neat fat speed controller... simple, but neat.

Cons: While it definitely cools down my CPU, it disperses heat pretty viciously into the rest of your case, so unless you have a pretty good airflow to your case, everything else is gonna heat up a couple degrees.

Not really a problem, but worth noting, and for 60 bucks I figure it's worth an egg.

Other Thoughts: Great, Sleek, and Quiet as heck. Tuniq has made me loyal with this one.

5 out of 5 eggs:)

Pros: keeps processor cool even under full load 30-31 degree celcious
fits alot better than most 120 fans from tuniq doesnt cover any major components is a tad close to memory on most gigabyte mobo but tolerable

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: as far as the rubber pins go i took them out... just take the fan bracket of each side and attach with standard fan screws then put fan with brackets attached back on it is a little tricky but not to bad if you have the right tools just dont tighten any all the way till you get them all started

4 out of 5 eggsInteresting & Effective Cooler

Pros: -First fan/heatsink combo I've owned with the air flowing downward, right out the box. It works. Temps are about 34-36 Celsius, during the summer.
-Body of heatsink does not block addition or removal of memory modules.

Cons: -Fan Controller did not fit through expansion card rear slot, without force.
-On lowest speed setting, fan sometimes needs a jump start on boot.

Other Thoughts: I dunno about the rubber mounting pins for the fan...they're working so far, I just don't feel too comfortable about them.

Yes this fan/heatsink is huge. The pictures should be a dead giveaway. After a Zalman CNPS9700 Finger Shredder Deluxe, this was a breeze.

I can't comment on the thermal compound, as I used Zalman SG-1.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Keeps idle @ lower temperature compared to stock(@ about 1200 rpms)
stocked cpu fan-> 35/41(OC)
tuniq fan -> 30-31/36(OC)
-Doesnt block of ram slots since the fan is tall
-

Cons: -gets a bit too loud when running in the higher rpms
-the things to secure the fan onto the heat sink....FOUR RUBBER CONE look alike pins....personally it DOESNT feel safe at all :(
-had to adjust(deform) the case a bit to get the controller nob to go through the expansion slot.

Other Thoughts: Its a 120mm cooling fan....expect it to be BIG
i barely have enough clearance for the fan with the AZZA solano 1000R i have about 1" clearance btwn the this cpu cooler and my case fan on the side.

for those wondering if fan will fit...
use a 120mm fan to check if you have enough clearance for this fan. widest this cooler will get is 120mm fan size with height about 5"

current set up
AZZA Solano 1000R
Asus M4A78T -E
AMD Phenom II X4 955
and others unrelated....

2 out of 5 eggsyou are killing me here

Pros: It does offer more space to work at base plate than top so it probably wont overlap your ram where ever they might be.
Offers better cooling than stock fan noticed on average 6-8 degree C difference. Have not tested it on maxed settings.

Cons: "1156 backplate set required" = NO pre-drilled holes...ahhh silly me I missed that...for my 1156 chip. I then drilled and grinded my own holes out. Now I notice that the top portion overlaps my PCIE16 slot and prevents me from putting my card in..good one. I am thinking of grinding that one entire side down to make it smaller.

I was not interested in paying for another bracket.

Other Thoughts: how much effort do i have to put in to make this work. I doubt that my luck would be just my 1 board, could have easily been another board since they are usually all similarly spaced.

Perhaps if it gives me any more trouble I will simply take a blow torch to it and cut it down then mail it back to the company with an FU note saying this is how it should have been done.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is one big friggin' CPU fan!!

Pros: Keeps CPU under 70C all the time! Very nice looking as well!

Cons: The Tuniq TX-3 paste is in a one use only sized tube and is about as hard to spread as I've ever seen. Cost this product an egg!
