1 out of 5 eggsStick with what You Know

Pros: It has great reviews.

Cons: Tube size is misleading. The tube is only 1/5 full. Price is too high for what you get. Bundled plastic spreader does not work. Instead of spreading, the paste sticks to the spreader. I had better luck with a business card. Paste is too thick.

Other Thoughts: After reading many positive reviews online, I decided to give Tuniq TX-4 a chance against my standard goto, Arctic Silver 5. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the paste to spread evenly, even when using the recommended spreading technique shown on Tuniq's website. The paste is simply too thick to spread well.

I suppose if I had managed to apply the paste correctly I would have seen results in line with the reviews I read. And I could have probably gotten the paste to spread correctly with some practice. But given the price of this product practice doesn't come cheap, and mistakes are costly. Despite its advertized benefits, Tuniq TX-4 simply isn't worth the price to learn how to use well.

After using this product I realized I should have stuck with what I know. And what I know is Arctic Silver 5. It's a good thermal paste that works well and doesn't come with quite as many headaches.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: Excellent thermal transfer

Cons: A lot of comments about it not being easy to spread. It's somewhat true but it's not THAT much of a pain.
Once it's spread, your set.

Expensive for thermal paste

Other Thoughts: Cleaned the other aftermarket stuff off two GTX470's and put TX4 on them. The other stuff is a solid thermal paste which I've been using forever but not quite as nice as TX4.

The delta ended up being about 3*C to 4*C less with TX4.
GPU1 went from 72*C to 68*C
GPU2 went from 67*C to 64*C
That's impressive. It continues to show about a minus 3 to 3.5*C delta throughout all games and situations.

Also put this on my 2500K which is being fed 1.330v on a Antec H20 620 and the difference is probably 3-4*C. It could be more but the CPU cooler is set to ramp the fan at 60*C I believe so it's a little less prevalent and harder to see but max temps never go over 60*C now where-as they were hitting something like 63*C.

Good stuff. Buy it if you can get it - it's completely worth the price.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid it like the herp

Pros: Stated Tech Specs are amazing.

Cons: Shipped to me hard as a brick. Could NOT spread the paste.

Other Thoughts: Contacted Tuniq's customer support, was promised a new tube. Promptly sent them my delivery information. This was over a year ago. AS-5 may be 4 or 5 degrees warmer, but it's well worth not having the hassle of trying to squeeze a brick out of a tube.

5 out of 5 eggsCOOOL

Pros: This stuff cools like a dream!

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: replace the stock TIM on my cooler with this stuff and saw my temps drop from 42c idle to 34c idle.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than competition

Pros: Switched over to this from AS-5.
Noticed immediate drop in temps by comparison.

GTX 470(with stock cooler) now idles at about 35c. This is impressive for Fermi on stock thermal solution.

My i7 930 now idles at 40c with overclock to 4.2GHz.

Cons: Difficult to spread even after soaking the tube in warm to hot water.
Not a lot in the tube.

Other Thoughts: Worth the pain to apply.
Wish they included more.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Paste came out nicely (warmed it slightly under hot water first as someone suggested). Wasn't dry at all. Helps keep my Ivy Bridge below 55C with Prime95 and idles at 22C.

Cons: Spreader application method they suggest you use has been shown to cause a lot of air bubbles between processor and heatsink.

Other Thoughts: I used the little-X application method (as opposed the prespreading the manufacturer recommends). After watching a couple videos of different thermal paste application techniques it seems to give the greatest spread/contact with the fewest airbubbles. Pre-spreading it with the spreader they include will give you more air pockets which won't conduct the heat to the heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: Never had any issues with this product.

Cons: longer to apply cause of the stickiness.

Other Thoughts: In time when you have to replace thermal in a about 3 years it tends to stick too the cpu when it drys, just take it off slowly and you should be ok,not all the time though I do alot of overclocking for video editing.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to be working ok.

Pros: Seems to be keeping its cool. Temps are still getting higher then they used too when I first bought the laptop (8560w) However I think it is just getting hotter with age. It is on 24/7 and performs like a champ. Definately say that the tx-4 is holding it own.

Cons: In the future I'm hoping that we will not need heatsinks, until then that is my only con.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy again, especially compared to arctic silver. I'm satisfied for now.
