4 out of 5 eggsGood pump, short hoses

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Very quit pump, looks sleak, dropped temps on cpu by 15 degrees, gpu by 20. Great price.

Cons: Ive put two of these in friends rigs for cpu cooling and they worked perfectly for low to mid range rigs. Dropped temps on their cpus by 10-15 degrees with no added noise. I bought two more to use in my own rig with the NZXT g10 brackets for gpu cooling. no problems conncting them to the cards, but the hoses were so short, the radiators would reach the front of the case, an NZXT h440. I ended up having to rig three fans together for each one in an extended push to get it to reach and had to take it out of the push pull config I wanted. Then went to boot it up and the unit on my main master card was dead. First item Ive ever gotten from Newegg that was DOA. Kept the idle.temps on the secondary card at 11 degrees though, rather than its normal ~30. All in all, good cheap pump for cpu, maybe use something else for gpu cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Master Cool

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Installed the Second Unit and it is working perfectly. Actually because i put on my own Plowstar Thermal Paste it is working Better. The other system does not exceed 36c and idles at 32c.
The Thermal Past is no longer available here at NewEgg as i have checked Everywhere else - i believe Star is the closest, but is a different ingredient compound. I was Hoping to get a few more 2 gram tubes to last me for many years - but that is a No.
This Corsair H50 unit with a Different Thermal Paste is Just Super. I am looking at purchasing a couple more for a customer because they checked out the two we have running and were Very Impressed with the results - They even put their own sensors and stress software on them to Prove Results - and - It Did...

Cons: Thermal Paste is lacking in the transfer of heat. To thick for parts that have such smooth surfaces now days. Has a long Cure-In time for sure.

Other Thoughts: You need to give thought to a stock fan verses a Corsair H50 heat transfer surface. The stock fan only has a small center of copper and does Not cover the Whole CPU Top/Cover. The Corsair is Round, but Does Cover the Whole Top CPU Cover/Top.
With a much smoother CPU Top than in the Older CPU's like the P4's and even the next generation CPU's that are rather rough in nature a thicker paste or grease is/was needed.
Now with the new 5th Generation CPU's these have a Much Smoother Top/Cover Surface and couple this with a Copper Corsair Very Smooth/Lapped mating surface when using the two together you should not use a thick Paste but a much more flow type or thinner paste. There are less grooves and valley's to fill than a thicker Paste/Grease that was designed to provide for these type of surfaces. The mating surface also needs to cover the Whole CPU Top/Cover (as a must) in proper cooling with Zero Hot Spots. You do not want AIR in between the CPU and the mating surface to dissipate the heat. Air is an insinuator and brings on unwanted CPU fluctuations
Benchmark Reviews tested 80 different Thermal Pastes/Grease's and is not associated with any company to promote the sale of any product(s) tested in any way, shape or fashion - ONLY Test Results on company products used in the testing phase.
Only 5 Thermal Compounds made the A+ grade with another 8 rating the 'A' grade and another 7 receiving the A- grade. That is only 20 that rate the A+, A or a A- grade out of 80 different Thermal Compounds - Wow.
NewEgg sells several of the Top Tier A+ Grades and the 'A' graded Thermal Compounds which is excellent. So when thinking of a Thermal Paste or Grease the flow is as important to picking a specific product as the CPU and the Heat Dissipating Devises Surface. (Be it a Stock Fan, Water Cooling Unit, Heat Pipes or whatever, the surface is all important.) This must be taken into consideration when picking your Thermal Compound as with Surface Texture, Heat Dissipation and Mating Surface Pressure.
So for the more Advanced PC Enthusiasts you might want to purchase NewEgg products after gaining a little knowledge first for your application and the actual use of your PC whether stock or Modified.
Your Thermal Compound, Mating Surfaces, Applied Pressure and Actual PC Use all play a part in the Proper Heat Transfer from the CPU to the corresponding Mating Surface to dissipate 'Heat' the Number 1 Killer of CPU's and other Components in a PC.
Have a Great Computing Day

4 out of 5 eggs1150 Compatibility

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: This thing is keeping my i5 4790 nice N cold ,around the 30C mark. I'll be doing a little bit of Over Clocking tonight so we'll see what It can handle, max temp with the MSI stress test was putting it around 50C and I feel like that's more than acceptable. Cables for the pump and fan are plenty long and the fan is high enough of a quality to have arrows for spin and air direction.

Cons: Newegg has this labeled for 1150 compatibility, but it took a lot of finagling. I had to cut corners off of the back bracket so that it would fit with my CPU opening. It did work with a bit of effort but the fact is, this isn't set up for 1150. Even on a 115X board.

Top of the rad may be a bit too big for some mid sized towers, I had to punch out a few holes lower than the back of the case had presets for so I could sag the Fan/Radiator.

Other Thoughts: Overall..With the little bit of work it took, this thing appears to be great. I wont be crazy OCing, but I'm confident I can do a little bit with no Damage

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Drops the temps! MUCH better than stock cooler. I've been building PCs for 15+ years now. This is my first time trying a liquid CPU cooler. I've never wanted to mess with filling and removing air from my own system, hoping to avoid leaks. Now with this factory sealed system, I finally took a chance.

Running Prime95 for 20+ minutes with the stock cooler on my Core i5 4690K, the CPU temps were up around 88-90 degrees C (very high). I installed this liquid cooler and ran the same test. Never exceeded 59 degrees, with an average of about 56! That's a 30+ degree Celcius reduction with the exact same workload!

Followed the directions, installed in about 1 hour. No issues at all with my ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer LGA 1150 motherboard. Everything fit perfectly like it was meant to be there.

Will absolutely buy this again for future systems I build. The price is right and the results are immediate and obvious.

Cons: None so far. Not a drop of leakage. I'll update this review if I have any issues.

Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate to go for this. It really does work as well as all the reviews say.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Quiet, efficient, keep my new Intel 4790K at around 30~40 degree Celsius and below 30 at idle. After 30 minute stress testing using Prime95. CPU temperature is around 70 degree. Even under this situation (100% CPU usage), the fan still do not need to run at its top speed to keep it at 70 degree. Pretty happy with it. Btw I'm using Cooler Master Elite 110 mini case and Asus Z97I-Plus mobo

Cons: The backplate definitely is NOT designed for LGA1150! The specification from newegg is VERY MISLEADING! Even H50's manual does not mention LGA1150. When bend your backplate to fit in ASUS mobo. be very careful! Otherwise you may scratch it

Other Thoughts: Use ADJUSTABLE backplate please!

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair H50 for ASUS Z97-Pro LGA1150

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Once again i find myself buying yet another Hydro Series H50 Quite Edition Liquid Cooler.
Even with the picky modifications i do (see other review for my mod) so it will fit like a Glove it is a Superb piece of electronic PC hardware. I had to get another for my other system even with the Modifications it is doing a Excellent job keeping my unit at or near 34C.
It does not exceed 42C at even heavy loads using AutoCad, Power Point and Adobe Photoshop at the same time. Multi-tasking is now a breeze.
After seeing the results on this unit i had to put one in the Wifes unit.

They do require a little modification for a LGA 1150 CPU on the ASUS Z97-Pro and ASUS Z97-A, but it is well worth it and now i can install one in no time at all knowing what i need to do to have it fit exactly right.
If planning on a Liquid Cooling unit this is a real Winner and well worth the money.

It is quite in every respect.
I do change out fans thow - i put in a BitFenix Spectre Pro 120mm PWM Case Fan leaving out the one sent and then use the fan that came in the case for a push-pull configuration mounting this Bad-Lad in the rear of the Thermaltake case (fits perfectly in that case)
Need a Very Good Liquid Cooling System this is a excellent choice for your system for over-clockers or not..

Cons: Needs Modification to fit a ASUS Z97 Family MoBo's - still the slight mod is well worth it. Check out mine and others mods if needed.

Other Thoughts: The System i am typing on to post this is as follows:
1.) ASUS Z97-Pro
2.) i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz LGA 1150 84W (stock mode for now)
3.) 16gig (4x4) Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 2400
4.) ASUS GeForce GT 740 1GB 128-Bit PCI Express
5.) Hauppauge 1196 WinTV HVR-1250 Hybrid
6.) 2x Western Digital Red NAS HD 1TB 64MB 3.5" I.H.D. (Raid 1)
7.) 1x Western Digital Black 500GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5" I.H.D.
8.) ASUS DVD-Writer Black SATA DRW-24F1ST
9.) CORSAIR Hydro Series H50
10.) Ultra 750watt Modular P.S.
11.) Thermaltake Commander G42 Blk ATX Mid Tower Case
12.) Win 7 Pro 64-bit OS

4 out of 5 eggsOverall pretty descent.

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Lower temps on my 4670 overall, looks nice, price is very reasonable.

Cons: It does not fit LGA1150 properly. It is definitely not designed for it. I saw the reviews of people saying it worked if you just worked it a little bit, but thats an understatement. It required a severe bend of the back plate to the point to where I was very much wondering if it was going to break, and even when you put it in place after bending it, it puts a lot of tension on the motherboard. Withal, it works though. Oh and the thermal paste is trash.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Mod 1150

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: This is a Excellent cooling unit for your PCU. It is doing a fantastic job and was fairly easy to install, but (read the cons) is really a two person job to make it easy if the MoBo is already in a case.
It is has a very quiet pump, but i did not use the stock fan i went with a BitFenix Spectre Pro BFF-SPRO-P12025KK-RP 120mm PWM because of the Fluid Dynamic Bearings and better vibration-dampening.
The unit works like a Champ and keeps the temps in the ranges i like. Not a hassle in mounting it in the Thermaltake CA-1B5-00M1WN-00 Black Case in the Rear because it has a cutout just like they knew you would need it for installing a cooling unit. Happy day :)
The specifications called for the fan to pull air into the case but i chose to have it pushing it out and mounted another fan on the other side to make it even better in push pull.
Can't go wrong with this system very good for the price and would buy another - for folks with a ASUS 1150 CPU Board read the cons.

Cons: It specifies in the Overview it is for Socket 1156, 1155 and LGA1366. Then under Compatibility it states Intel LGA 1155, 1156, and 1366.
Then under Specifications it has Block Compatibility Intel: LGA 1150 / LGA 1155 / LGA 1156 / LGA 1366.
I have the ASUS Z97-Pro and it is NOT an exact fir for this 1150 board. To make it fit properly you MUST modify this puppy.
Still it is not hard and if you are patient it can be done and installed with relative ease. It just take time and being exact with patience. (See other thought on how this is done.)

Other Thoughts: To make this Bad-Lad fit with all 4 inserts lining up on a ASUS Z97-Pro you must cut a web off each of the clover-leaf corners. Just use a Drimmel tool or in my case i used an X-Acto knife for precision. My Drimmel tool bucked once and i just stopped with that sucker. You need to cut the webs 'Exactly' the same size as the holes in the Clover-Leaf pattern. You cannot get it much over a couple 1000th of an inch in size making these ob-round holes. Just cut the web close to the size and then take off a 1000th of an inch of material at a time on both sides until the holes are exactly ob-round. You need to cut a small lip on the area the rib was for the insert to rest on or it might pull though the hole if turned with the Flats on the insert turned the length of the ob-round hole. Then do not just install the clamping ring and then think you can place the pump with heat-sink compound on it onto the CPU and turn it so it will lock. You need to install the screws into the clamping ring (they do clamp in the holes and don't fall out) and then carefully place it on the CPU and tighten each one of them with a turn on each and not much more. To hold the inserts in place cover them with a piece of tape over the inserts so they won't get pushed out (if doing this alone) and it will be really easy. Be sure to line up the back plate you modified with the adhesive strips carefully so you can see the holes line up and then press the part down with the adhesive strips to hold it in place. Now you can press in the inserts with the rounded ends pointing toward the outer hole in the clover-leaf pattern and the CPU. Once you get ALL 4 finger screws started us needle nose pliers to hold them in that position and tighten all 4 thumb screws up one at a time just as in the instructions. (Caution: Be sure and place a piece of tissue or other material between the motherboard and the case because if one of the inserts happens to get pushed out even with tape being used and it goes between the MoBo and Case plate - you got troubles - i know this first hand). Just tighten them in a rotational order as shown in the instructions and then using some care install the radiator and fan to the case.
Plug the fan preferably a PWM to the CPU fan plug because if you don't use this plug on the board it will not like that. You can then attach the pump to the secondary CPU connector on the ASUS Z-97-Pro.
You are done - just don't over tighten any of the thumb screws or screws that connect the fan and radiator.

Have fun and just take it slow and be prudent in cutting those ribs for the inserts. (Cut to much and you will be putting a washer on the insert - no doubt.)

So, just because specs state it is for a 1150 CPU - on an ASUS Z97-Pro it is not just slap it together and go.

Still it is a Great Cooler and i will buy another when i need one.

Have a Happy Day because it will take hours to get it done right on ASUS 1150 MoBo's.
Hope this helps all the ASUS Z97 1150
