2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't fit my mobo and terrible instructions

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Seems to work

Cons: The instructions are incomprehensible. They rely on diagrams and brief multilingual directions, but the diagrams leave out crucial elements, like which side is up and which set of holes in piece B piece you're supposed to snap piece A into. (I'm not particularly dumb and have put a lot of PCs together in my years.)

The assembly uses double-sided sticky tape to hold the it securely in place, which makes it very hard to position the assembly over the proper holes in the mobo; you want to nudge it toward a hole, but the tape is sticking to the mobo.

Worst, I could not get it to fit onto my ASUS motherboard (P8P67 LE); chips on the board made it impossible to seat it properly. The Internet tells me that people have installed it on that board. I couldn't figure out how to do it, and the instructions were of no help.

I ended up reusing the assembly from my broken Kuhler 620. It seems to be a good and snug fit, but I'm of course violating the warranty, and have downloaded a temperature gauge to see if I'm baking my CPU. I am not recommending this!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great, installation isn't fun.

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Extremely quiet.
Works great.
Looks nice.
Decent size.

Cons: Horrible installation.

Other Thoughts: If I could give 4.5 eggs, I would. The only problem I have with this cooler is the installation. I've seen the other models and they have much easier installation. I couldn't get this one in without help. My boyfriend has the H60 and I can't tell a difference in sound, so if you have the room I recommend buying that one instead. It's easier to install and has better performance.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible experience...

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Its seems pretty nice, if you are using intel.

Cons: I had a terrible experience with amd waiting a week for a kit for amd to come then have to order another one cause that one didnt work just to have the same exact thing ship to me again. I own the h100i and I love that cooler but this is just a bad experience for me, guess i will be going with a air cooler for this build.

4 out of 5 eggsCool operator

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Very quiet when new. You barely hear the pump. The fan is also quiet but can be replaced with a more quiet higher pressure fan. This fan keeps my cpu cool throughout all types of use. The lowest temps at idle are around 38C and don't go any higher than 55C under load. I have a i7 4770K running at 4.0Ghz. Love the product and love the price.

Cons: Pump can be heard after it's been used for some time. Mine started being obvious after 6 months. I also wish the tubing was more flexible (less rigid), but it's not a big factor in my purchasing decision.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product, Pain to Install

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Was using a 6 pipe Heatsink Air Cooler. Kept my Idle CPU temp around 55C and Motherboard at 33C. Installed the Corsair H50. Now my CPU Idle temp is 33C and Motherboard is 27C.

Cons: Backplate is a pain to install. Manual is somewhat ok, could be more informational. Had to watch some youtube videos to install it the right way. Not that hard when you mess around with it.

2 out of 5 eggsIntel CPU adapter explained

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: ?? Hopefully it will work

Cons: Installation without a manual sucks the sloppy brown starfish. I bought the most expensive motherboard in my life for this build and I have had to manhandle it 3 times due to this cooler

Other Thoughts: This is really non intuitive, and Corsair should be beaten for not inculuding a manual.

For INTEL CPU's:

For those of you who don't know, Intel has given up on making the heatsink attach to the CPU socket and now they're attaching direcly to the motherboard. The problem is that the motherboard doesn't have a threaded hole, so to attach the heatsink (any heatsink) to the mobo you have to

1) Install something for the heatsink to screw into before you put the motherboard in and screw it down.
2) use a blind rivit like system to screw the heatsink down (this is what the stock Intel cooler does)
3) Install the heatsink and CPU first before the motherboard goes in.

The problem is, you can't take intel's fasteners out and that with a water cooler you have to attach the radiator and fan to the case, so you can't really do option #3. Option #1 is all thats left

Corsar includes twelve fasteners in the package. 4x thumbscrews, for the heatsink, 4x screws with washers for the case-fan-radiator, and 4 very smooth round threaded inserts fo the back of the motherboard which if you try to use them on your own will be an exercise in futitility to the them to stay, followed by incorrect fit of the heatsink.

The answer is this: In addition to the fasteners there are three plastic pieces. there is a round bit with four wings for the 4x thumbscrews that is notched in the middle. There is a doughnut bit that attaches underneath the aforementioned part to make sure the thumbscrews will actually pull the heatsink down onto the CPU. The last bit is rectangular in the middle with 12 holes. The is the spacer everyone is referring to. The holes on the wings have a tiny label next to them for one of 3 socket types (includes 1150. The inserts go into the four holes associated with your socket. The widest part of the inserts are not 100% round and will fit into the insert holes in a way so that they won't rotate when the thumbscrews are tightened into them.

One the inserts are in the right holes per your socket, you can put that whole thing beneath the motherboard and install it. This is much easier and the thumbscrews will actually tighten down fully (I think, about to try).

WAnted to write all that down before I forgot. Hope it helps. NEWEGG: let me attach pictures and I can make this instruction set more helpful!!!

(AMD CPU's still use the socket attached cooler, I think...)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Great cooling. You'll get 45-55 F, 7 - 10 C, for at FX 8350 8 core processor. Really cold.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Easy to install for AMD boards. You have to pull the mobo for an intel install. If it's for a new build, no problem either way. It extends the life of your CPU. I wouldn't build any computer of substance without liquid cooling for $50 - 60. It's a bargain.

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: Excellent product quality feeling. Easy to install(and fun!!) My CPU temps dropped from 45 to 26 idle and 75 to 60 full load, I have a core i7 950 OC @3.5Ghz. I have combined it with two COUGAR CF-V12HPB Vortex Hydro-Dynamic-Bearing (Fluid) 300,000 Hours 12CM Silent Cooling Fan with Pulse Width Modulation (Black)

Cons: None at all for now!!

Other Thoughts: Looks nice in my case!

1 out of 5 eggsQuality Control?

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: None

Cons: Missing Parts

Other Thoughts: You would figure for a part costing 60.00 the company could make sure all parts come with purchased item. My only choice is 1. wait for replacement parts or 2 use stock fan. Not a happy camper.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsH50 vs 1150

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

Pros: I"ll keep this simple and on point. This works flawless on 1150 but you'll have to put the inserts in different slots.. just like up the 4 holes on back before u add the inserts

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I ordered all my stuff for a new gaming rig from newegg and they didnt give me a code.. a flyer.. nothing :(
