2 out of 5 eggsNot so quiet, installation a bit tricky

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: Looks cool, keeps cpu cool

Cons: Not sure what they mean by quiet edition, mine is definitely loud, at least compared to my other 3 case fans and the ps (internal fan) that i have. The box I received from newegg doesn't say quiet edition anywhere but my order says quiet edition. I have an extra round plastic piece that I have no idea what it goes to. Its not listed as "included hardware" in the directions. You can tell its meant to snap into place somewhere, but nothing in the directions or any youtube videos that I have found include it. The corsair youtube video is old, this did not include a rubber grommet as shown in the video (which would help with noise), but my case has rubber grommet(s) on each screw. Also the hoses are now smooth instead of ribbed.

4 out of 5 eggsVery surprising!

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: - Very nice silent cooling system.
- Cools my I5 4690K Devils canyon perfectly. Maximum Processor heat is around 31 degrees Celcius when playing any game.
- Overall great Product happy to have bought it.

Cons: - Only issue (Reason for 4 eggs)
- LGA1150 mount is a bit of an issue, had to bend the holder in the back of the MOBO for good placement.

Other Thoughts: - Would recommend to anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Cooler

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: -Simple to install (with the proper sockets)
-With Arctic Silver Thermal Paste, keeps CPU below 30 C
-Looks great

Cons: -May not properly fit all 1150 sockets

Other Thoughts: BEWARE: This cooler is NOT designed for 1150 sockets! The backplate even specifically only states it fits 1155, 1156 and 1366. I bought an i7-4790K and I managed to get the backplate to fit on the underside of my motherboard, but it is at an angle instead of sitting properly. In addition, I had to place one of the adhesive strips near the top of one side of the backplate because the motherboard had connections protruding where the proper place was. This is my motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130801

This cooler is great and I'm giving 4 stars only because of the incorrect advertisement, but like I said, if you are buying a motherboard with an 1150 socket, I would not recommend this cooler. Get one that is specifically designed for 1150 motherboards.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Future of CPU Coolers

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: Honestly the best part about the H50 and similar coolers is the price. This thing reeks of quality and comes with a 5 year warranty to boot. You know it's the future when you can have the option to go with water without worrying about tubing, pump, water block, and radiator assembly - it's ready to go out of the box! The unit looks absolutely spectacular in cases if you're into that sort of thing.

The pre-applied thermal paste I would say is a plus for easy assembly. There is always the option to use a superior paste even if it's already there. Mounting the fan and radiator was a snap although the block installation could use some improvement. Temperatures and noise are very impressive.

Cons: As with all aftermarket coolers, installation can be a bit dicey. I would highly recommend another person for a second set of hands. The instructions say to turn each of the mounting screws a "half-turn" before mounting the block although it's very hard to guesstimate how deep you're already in. This forced me to get frustrated, slam (figuratively speaking) the block down first and muscle the screws in. A bit of a pain but well worth the results!

Other Thoughts: This unit WILL work with Skylake socket 1151 - just use the instructions for socket 1150. Also be sure mount your fan as an INTAKE and install the unit either on the top or bottom of your case if possible. Use your case's front fans as intake and rear fans as exhaust per usual.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: Keeps things pretty cool, my i7 920 lasted way longer than it should have, in part due to this cooler.

Cons: The back bracket for the motherboard is not reusable. When you decide to upgrade your mobo, you will have to buy a new heat sink.

Other Thoughts: My score would be higher, but having to throw this thing away after a few months due to hardware upgrades has me more than a bit salty.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Installed; Review

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: Quiet
Works; Keeps my i7 3770k much cooler at high loads(had stock before)

Cons: Pre applied thermal paste

Other Thoughts: Would buy this product again

Wish it had instructions on the 1155 socket but I had to find it online. You just had to do a odd combination of pins. Wasn't really a big deal after all just cause extra time to be wasted

5 out of 5 eggsA Xeons best friend

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: Keeps my E3-1231 v3 @42c under load and around 31c idle. and I mean FULL load. Fit just barely on my ASRock Z97I-ITX MOBO.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: This is by far the best bang for your buck if you aren't OC'ing. Haven't yet tested it on an unlocked CPU. But I plan to. So, I will update this review when that occurs.

5 out of 5 eggsIce cold, baby. Ice freaking cold.

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only

Pros: If you want a cold CPU, or a cold GPU, this is the cooler to get. It's relatively easy to install (less so for the GPU, but then Corsair doesn't support it on a GPU) and keeps your system icy cold. I'm running a Xeon X5650 and a GeForce GTX 660 Ti FTW+ in my old X58 rig and the air cooling numbers were (stock cooling on both CPU and GPU) 167 degrees under Prime95 load for the CPU and 180 degrees under FurMark load on the GPU.

With the H50's installed? I can't get the CPU to 110 degrees (stock speeds) and the GPU maxed out at 114. I'm playing maxed out Skyrim UNDER 100 degrees and my few DirectX 11 titles aren't far behind. I'm idling at or near room temperature. With a 4.1 GHz overclock, I'm lucky to hit 135 degrees under load and I idle between 10 and 15 degrees above ambient.

It's physically easier on the motherboard than a large air cooler.

Cons: None, really, if you have a case with an opening for accessing the motherboard's back side. It's a bit tough to install if you're working by yourself. For whisper-quiet and ice-cold computing, it's a small price to pay for a slightly inconvenient installation. I'd knock off an egg if I installed these for a living, but I only put in two.

The backplate is plastic, so be careful.

The tubing is a bit short for those of you with larger cases. Your mileage may vary, see dealer for details.

Other Thoughts: Unless your overclocking needs and case call for a custom loop (no thanks!) or larger closed-loop radiators, the H50 is a great combination of value and performance. I look forward to doing another build and using one of these.

The slight gurgling noise when I turn on my computer is both a little scary and kinda cool.
