4 out of 5 eggsh100i

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Very nice looking, the unit does what it says. I have not had any gripes about it thus far when it comes top performance, also very very quiet.

Cons: Only con I can see is the corsair-link software. I had to do some digging and tweaking to get the pump LED to actually change colors. And the colors are not as intense as I like them to be. However they are nice looking and give my case a pleasant look.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone trying to buy a close loop water coaling unit.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes the job.

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Easy to install. Stuck it on an amd 8370. See other thoughts.

Cons: If youre into pretty cable management, dont go an All In One system. The fans, usb, power, and cpu fan wire, all route back to the main block of the system which is the cpu. Go custom watercooling then. I dont care about that anymore, I just want it to fuction well, and this does.

If you close up your case and nobody's going to see it, this isnt an issue.

Other Thoughts: I bought this system because I wanted to separate the cpu/graphics card watercooling loops. I did not want to build a whole separate loop, and this was an easy way to not do it.

Experimenting with the corsair software (corsairLINK) I got the best noise results (for myself and my mild overclock) by creating a custom fan profile.

I started by increasing both fan speeds until I could just start to hear them, then back off a notch or two. This becomes my low fan speed constant, no matter how low the temp is. For me its about 1200 rpm. So my 'point 1' is 30c (h100i pump temp)/1200 rpm.

The intermediate step is very adjustible depending on what youre doing most of the time. Point 2 for me is 45c/1600rpm. For the game i play (dragon age 3) this seems to be a sweet spot, and climbs to about 1500 rpm or so.

Point 3 is max fan speed (2500 or so) is going to be about 60c (again, H100i pump temp). This setting is for max temp ( that youre comfortable with). Your fans will be Loud, and if there is reason you'll be ok with it. If there isnt a good reason for this youll know it, and HEAR it, and then investigate it.

As im typing and thinking of this review, i have prime95 going and my H100i temp is sitting at 39.2c/1500 rpm with the 8370 @ 4.3 ghz. (very mild oc).

You can always use the default modes that come with this, but I have found the custom fan profile to work best for me.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: -Does a great job. i5-4670k @ 4.2 runs around 20 degrees idling and around 40 degrees under load. Stress testing via Prime95 will pull it up to 65. (Running a push configuration with fans locked at 2000 rpm.)

-Quiet enough in comparison.

-LED is a nice feature.

-Sturdy but flexible tubing that doesn't look too off putting.

-Relatively easy to install, with a little help from YouTube and the manual.

Cons: -Absolutely trash software. While the LED works, it hardly ever actually responds to changes made to it within the software, and if it does then it won't remember it upon the next boot. Half the time it fails to detect various things, so a lot of the "fancy" options the software give you aren't worth anything.

-While the fans are quiet enough around 2000 RPM, sometimes a slight "whine" can be heard. This is a problem pretty much every other person is experiencing, but from what I can tell it doesn't effect performance any.

Other Thoughts: Other than that I'm satisfied. Would recommend this cooler if your looking for a high performance water cooler for casual overclocking, but I HIGHLY suggest taking into consideration the buggy software that comes with it. It performs great as well as looks great, but the software going on underneath the "looks" isn't particularly the best around. 4/5 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggsBuying One Of These Is Like Playing Roulette

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Umm... it cools your cpu? and it's not terribly difficult to assemble...

Cons: loud, extremely unreliable, poorly manufactured

Other Thoughts: Over the last year I have bought 5 of these. 3 of them had major issues, and 2 of them worked. That's not very good odds... I'm surprised they are having so much difficulty making these. How hard can it be to make a radiator???

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: cools very well

Cons: upgraded to win 8.1 and as stated Corsiar Link fails to show pump n fans. luckily there are other smart people out there, you can google for a fix in the registry, just be very careful.

Other Thoughts: so far it shows pump n fans and i'm able to set them.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Good cooler. Fans are loud at 100 precent but are almost silent when at low rpm. The cooler has a solid build and pits well into my HAF XM case. The tubing was plenty long enough to reach my processor. Once I got Corsair Link working (which is very difficult) it is easy to control and very convenient.

Cons: Be careful installing the screws into the fans and radiator. The screws that they give you are too long and will tear into the radiator. This might cause a leak.

CORSAIR LINK DOES NOT WORK WELL IN WINDOWS 8. I took me several hours to semi-fix the problem, but it still is not a permeant fix. In windows 8, windows power saver systems even when disabled, will not recognize the pump or the fans plugged into the pump. This makes the main reason that I bought this cooler worthless. After spending several hours online trying to find a solution I finally made windows recognize it but I need to redo the fix each time I start my computer. Without corsair link running you cannot control fan and pump speed so the cooler is way to noisy.

Because of these 2 main faults I gave this product 3 eggs. It overall is a good cooler, I just wish corsair had put a bit more effort into tweaking it into a great product.

Other Thoughts: The caps on the y fan splitter cable male ends are very hard to see.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat system

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Works like a charm and is fairly silent! Even with running one fan, my i5-4690K is staying very cool.

Cons: Directions are not the best, but other than the connections of the fans to the pump they are adequate. The only real con I have is that it does not fit in a Corsair 230T tower when using a Haswell board. The radiator/fan is just thick enough that it won't clear the RAM.

Other Thoughts: Other than needing to find a different case to use this cooling setup properly, this is a great piece of equipment. Even running on only one cooling fan, it is keeping things well below what the stock air cooler would do.

Corsair customer support is also quick to respond as I asked them about my fitment issue along with a question on the Y-harness for the fans. I am used to having to wait days, I had a response in less than 6 hours!.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Works great, keeps my processor at a good temp

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Manual says to install the fans in an intake direction, but I have them installed to push air out of the case, and I don't have any heat issues cooling a FX-8350. Idle temp is in the 20C - low 30C range

4 out of 5 eggsBlown Away!

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Maybe bad choice of words for a liquid cooler, but this system is a piece of art. Used to cool my i-7 5930k (see specs below). This was my first ever build with a liquid cooling system and I am very impressed with the quality and ease of use with this system.

- Excellent cooling, keeping my idle CPU temps under 20C. I'm using a quad fan setup with the radiator mounted on the front of my case (x2 intake and x2 exhaust fans on the radiator). I felt this provided better cooling than the top mounted design it was intended for
- Very quiet system, used to loud noisy fans
- Thermal past was already pre-applied, however, I removed it and used Artic Silver.

Cons: - Obviouly designed to fit Corsair cases, with is not a true con, but I wish it included more universal mounting tools such as 4" screws.
- The hoses could be a few inches longer, barely reached with my front mounted setup. Again, this was designed for mounting on the top of the Corsair case.
- Slight buzz/humming noise, this might be due to my hoses being twisted slightly to fit the front mount. Again, having longer hoses would have been ideal.

Other Thoughts: 4.5 out 5 five just for some very minor flaws, but when it comes to it's intended job (cooling) it's a 5 of 5!

If you do not own a Corsair case, be prepared to do some thinking, engineering, and finagling. I was able to mount the intake on my Antec Nine Hundred case without any cutting, welding, or bonding. I would recommend a Corsair case if you are not savy and just want to plug and play with this system.
