5 out of 5 eggsLove this FAN!

Pros: Very powerful fan. Use as CPU cooler fan in an Mini-ITX build (Athlon x4 760k @ 4GHz / Coolermaster 130) With PWM, barely audible until i crank up a game or do a movie encode.

Cons: At full bore, is quite loud thou not as loud as expected. Also the price, man is a pricy one, should have bought the 2pk

Other Thoughts: Mainly got this due to space constraints in my system, needed a high static pressure to ensure a properly cooled cpu. Is quite tame on the sound after setting up my speed/temp ramps via UEFI

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Cooling

Pros: Color rings are nice. The black housing is very neutral and fits better for color coordinating cases.

Very good cooling performance. On par with some other high end fans out there.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you want a less noisy fan, get the quiet edition.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet and Cool

Pros: This fan was indicated as a case fan that could also be used as a CPU fan, I mounted it at the rear of My case. I like the rubber mounts because they dampen vibration and the fan is as Quiet as any I've ever had but it doesn't move quite as much air as my last fan. I thought this would be a problem but I saw no increase in temps. but I saw a big difference in the amount of dust that was building up on the inside and front of My case so maybe I was moving more air than was necessary.

Cons: My only con so far is Price and that's because it was twice the price of the fan it replaced which was rated at 50,000 hours. I don't know enough about the Hydraulic Bearing in this fan to say it will outlive the old fans rating or not, only time will answer that question and I will update this review once sufficient time has passed.

Other Thoughts: You know the old saying, If it ain't broke, don't fix it? Well My case fan wasn't broke but after I installed this Corsair, I discovered that it was louder than it had to be and it was way stronger than it needed to be, it was pulling a ton of dust into My Computers Case and I was Having to vacuum it out every month. I can tell there is way less dust being pulled into the case now.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid product, if it fits your needs.

Pros: Solid construction, nice rubber mounting holes to cut down vibration. Great cooling when attached to liquid-cooling radiator (Intel RXRTS2011LC in this case, see 'Other Thoughts' for more info). Good communication with board, received RPM signals without any issue (Gigabyte Z77 board).

Cons: On-par performance when compared to stock Intel fan bundled with my cooler (the Intel stock fan is high-quality fan, so take that as you will). I suspect this fan will have better longevity, so this is a very good replacement, if your stock fan requires replacement. Otherwise could be difficult to justify the cost.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to pick the right fan for your application. Static Pressure fans are designed to be in direct contact with cooling radiators. Corsair’s High Airflow fans should be selected if it’s to be used simply as a case fan. If noise is a problem, go for the Quiet Edition of this same fan; a little noise is to be expected from the “High Performance” edition (though bear in mind, the Quiet Edition will move less air). In my testing, this fan was actually around 2dB quieter than my stock Intel fan when folding proteins (full load).
If you’re using the fan on a radiator, cord length shouldn’t be an issue. I had a good 6-8” to spare with the Intel BXRTS2011LC.

4 out of 5 eggsTop quality from Corsair

Pros: It packs a punch. This fan is marketed as a High Pressure CPU fan (not to be confused with case fan) and I definitely felt that right out of the box. It doesn't move a ton of air (62 CFM) but the high pressure really works wonders on CPU heatsinks, radiators, and any other metal you need to blow air through.

Temperatures dropped about 2 - 3C on my CPU (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme heatsink), not enough to blow my mind, but enough to make a difference.

The fan and casing has a very solid build, there's no rattling, shifting, wiggling, or any other nuisance that I've encountered with other fans. It's made of thick, solid plastic and while I don't think most people would somehow physically smash their fans, it definitely feels sturdy enough to take a hit.

Given the superb quality and craftsmenship that I can tell went into designing this fan, I'd expect it to last a very long time and retain its performance over its lifetime. These are the quality standards I've learned to expect from Corsair over the years. They definitely didn't cut any corners here.

The fan comes with 3 patriotic colored bands (Red, white, and blue) which you can interchange to match your case's color scheme.

Also, being Corsair, you get access to definitely some of the best customer service in the industry.

Cons: The first problem I noticed immediately after unboxing, the cord is far too short. I know it's a CPU fan which generally don't require much length, but I measured the cord to be exactly 12" which isn't enough to be used anywhere other than your CPU. Any kind of cable management (behind your board for example) is pretty much out of the question.

Sadly, the fan is noticably louder than other high pressure CPU fans I own. It's also pushing noticably more air, but personally I wouldn't justify the extra noise cost for a few degrees of temperature drops.

Other Thoughts: I have a wide array of arguably the best fans ever made (SlipStream / S-Flex 1200's and 1600's) available to me to compare this to. While the Corsair does perform marginally better, it's also at over twice the cost. Despite my other fans being at least 4+ years old, they still managed to compete pretty closely to the SP120 at roughly half the cost when I bought them.

For me, the fan makes too much noise to be a viable contender on my CPU, and at the same time I don't think it moves enough air for people who don't care about noise -- So where does this leave the SP120?

All of that wrapped around the ~$20 price tag (at the moment) means I don't know where I stand with the SP120. It's too loud to win as a CPU heatsink for me, and ignoring noise, it doesn't push enough air to beat out other 2000+ RPM fans.

Overall though, as far as CPU fans go, it's a good contender. There are a lot of times when you use a new piece of hardware that you can tell a new champion has arrived, but this isn't one of those situations. It's a good all-around choice, but depending on whether you want to prioritize noise-levels or air speed, there are better choices on each end of the spectrum.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THESE FANS!!!

Pros: none

Cons: i have now received my third...THATS RIGHT! THIRD!!!....replacement of this fan. i've tried all 4 of the PWM connections on my motherboard with this fan, and the preceding 2 fans before it. no RPM signal. i've also now tried all 4 connections with 2 other brands of fans with PWM connectors, those fans work fine! something is wrong with corsair, and with these fans.

Other Thoughts: i even marked each fan i got with a small hidden dot from a sharpie marker to make sure i wasnt being sent the same fan over and over. all 3 were different, supposedly new, fans.

strike 3 corsair! i don't care how much testing you do and how good the specs are. this is outrageous! i will not buy any of these fans from corsair and i suggest no one else does either.

1 out of 5 eggsnot happy at all

Pros: none so far.

Cons: i received my replacement fan today for the first one that didnt work and low-and-behold, it has the same issue! no RPM signal from the fan at all. the computer won't boot because i have this fan plugged into the cpu fan connector. i'm certain its not the connector because i'm currently using a different fan right now, and it works just fine.

strike 2 corsair. really? 2 fans in a row with the same issue?

Other Thoughts: a shout out to newegg for giving me a complimentary shipping label. the lady at newegg chat actually said for future reference, if the product is defective, get in contact with newegg for a shipping label, don't pay for it just going through the automated process.

thanks newegg! lets hope corsair can get their act together.

3 out of 5 eggsunlucky

Pros: cooled my cpu 2 degrees colder than my other fan. seemed to work well when attached to the front of a large heatsink

Cons: the fan was not giving any RPM indication to the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: i guess it was just my turn to get a defective product out of the box. it was bound to happen eventually. the fan worked well, except for no RPM signal. i installed it on my hyper 212 evo cooler with the stock hyper 212 evo fan as a pull fan on the back. the corsair was replacing a Logisys SF120 fan i had on the front of the radiator. all in all, it cooled the CPU about 2-3 degrees cooler than the setup i had on there.

the problem was, my motherboard wasnt getting any RPM indication from the fan. its a PWM fan so there should have been something. i called my mobo tech support just to make sure nothing was wrong because i did just install a new mobo 3 days ago. after lots of trial and error, we concluded the fan was bad.

strike one for corsair, hopefully my replacement is good and i can leave a better review.
