An excellent, quiet choice for heatsinks and radiators

The wide body, low-pitch blades of the SP120 fans combined with the custom housing provides outstanding static pressure and airflow through heatsinks or radiators. With rubberized corners, a quiet and reliable Advanced Hydraulic Bearing, and PWM support for increased fan speed control, the SP120 truly is the strong, silent type.

Included in the box are the three user-replaceable colored rings, in red, blue, and white, so you can customize your fan to match your case's components. Each fan also features blacked-out wires and connectors, so your build looks elegant and clean when done. Available in single and twin packs.

2 out of 5 eggsNo RPM detected by motherboard

Pros: Looks nice. Pretty bummed out that I can't make use of this fan anymore.

Cons: PWM signal does not work; motherboard does not detect that this fan is plugged in. No RPMs being detected by motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Using this to replace the stock cpu fan that came with my aftermarket cooler and this was the best thing I could've ever done. keeps my cpu and ram next to it much cooler.

Cons: Price is a bit high for only one fan.

1 out of 5 eggsnot for me

Pros: none

Cons: rma 1st one, 2nd one doesn't work either.would give zero eggs if possible

Other Thoughts: neither one detected by system .board has 2 pwm fan headers for cpu.not detected by either.not detected by the other 4 pin headers on mb either .called corsair and told it should work. (no kidding).have other pwm fans that work no prob on both cpu pwm fan headers.don't know what happened to corsair, but they were once very good solid products. must have had a bad batch of these because this seems to be a prob for lots of others with these bad ,I really wanted the high static pressure these have.i do not recomend

4 out of 5 eggsGood quality

Pros: I purchased this HSP fan to replace the fan that originally came with my H60 closed loop.

The original Corsair fan that I had installed previously had recently begun to make a bit of noise, upon removing the fan to inspect it and attempt to reconfigure my airflow I noticed that the that fan had started to produce a bit of a "tick" sound, my guess is the bearing was finally wearing out after a good 2 years or so of full-on use. Manually spinning the blades on that fan revealed that it didn't feel very healthy, was catching a bit on each turn and was producing a ticking sound.

I decided to order a replacement fan and this fit the bill.

The fan is very well made, feels solid and comes with a variety of colored rings to match your theme if that's important to you. (red/blue/white).

It pushes good air, and does what it's supposed to. CPU temp dropped by about 2*C all around, a very welcome improvement.

(HWMonitor and Coretemp to measure)

(Also, my room temperature is stuffy/awful despite it being winter, ambient is around 28*C)

Stock fan

IDLE: 37*C
LOAD: 65*C

Corsair SP120 PWM HSP (THIS FAN)

IDLE: 35*C
LOAD: 64*C

However, that improvement comes at the cost of noise, see below.

Cons: It's loud. It's not marketed as a silent fan so if that's what you're looking for, this simply isn't it. This fan is designed to push air through radiators on cooling solutions and it does that very well, but given that the cfm ratings are very similar to the stock fan that originally came with the cooler, I expected more. (Or rather, *less* in the noise department.)

I had expected it to match db-wise with the original fan, and performance is unfortunately very similar but with around 50% more noise than the last one. A 2*C difference in exchange for an extra handful of dB isn't worth the trade off in my opinion, but it is still nice to have a new fan and not have to worry about the other one giving out.

Other Thoughts: It's a great fan, but as another review (top critical I think?) had articulated, there are better options on both ends of the spectrum for both low-noise and air volume.

It's a good fan and does what it's supposed to, but you can do better in both regards.

For me though, this works great as I rather prefer my fan brands to match and this seemed like the best Corsair option available to me for my needs.

Plus, my theme is red/white so the red ring was a nice touch, even though it's only cosmetic.

The colored rings are nice but I sincerely hope that the rings don't add much to the overall cost, as mentioned you can do better and I find the included rings to be, although a welcome addition, a bit frilly and unnecessary.

If the rings were not included and it could drop the price by $1-$5, I would obviously opt for that.

It's a great fan, really, but even at half-speed it produces a heck of a lot more noise than the stock fan, despite not doing a whole lot that the stock fan couldn't, only reason I purchased this was because it was clear the other fan was in the process of dying and I can't be bothered with oiling/lubricating fans, in my experience even when I have re-lubricated failing or dry fans they still end up dying within a few months.

If you have dual/triple rads, I believe Newegg offers bulk packs of these, I've seen twin packs at least so you can save some dollars.

Overall, does what it's supposed to, and it works for me, but if low-noise or high cfm are priority, it may be worth shopping around some more.

This fan has achieved a decent balance between the two but for the price I'm confident you could do better. Quality fan despite my nitpicks, I can definitely recommend these along with the disclaimer that these are *not* the greatest, but they are Corsair quality.

Worth the money? Sure. The best for your money? Highly doubtful.

Go through with your purchase with this in mind.

5 out of 5 eggsLove Em!!!

Pros: I have a bunch of Corsair fans. I use the SP 120 Performance PWM for my 360mm X 45mm radiator and love them. I also have an AF 140 quiet some SP 120 Quiets, 2 SP 120 performance non PWM all great.
Some say they are loud but that's only if they run at full speed and mine never do. Color rings are a nice touch to a build.

Cons: One of mine has developed a slight tick so I needed to replace it. I haven't RMA'd it yet but will. I will not dock an EGG for this because considering all of the Corsair fans I have purchased one slight tick is not too bad.

Other Thoughts: The main reason I continue to go with these is the rings can match any color scheme I choose and the performance.

4 out of 5 eggsGood fan, but...

Pros: -Very solid construction
-Great aesthetics
-Can change the plastic ring for a different color
-Equal performance to the best 120MM fan I own
-Equal level of noise to the best fan I own (not very loud)

As far as performance goes, this fan is up there with best fan I own for a CPU fan. It kept my CPU the same temperature through all my tests as the other than did. This fan has a very nice look to it. I don't like to have LED fans on my CPU cooler, so it is nice to have one that looks very nice without lighting everything up. Being able to change out the color of the ring is a nice touch, my case is red/black, so it was nice to be able to switch the blue ring out for the red one.

Cons: -Equal performance to a fan that costs a lot less
-I wish the cable was braided

While this thing performed as well as my best fan that I own, that fan cost about 40% less than this one. This fan does have the added benefit of better aesthetics, but to me that alone is not worth the difference in cost. Other higher-cost fans I have purchased have a braided cable, kind of like most power supplies have. It is a look a really like and wish this one had it... but that is more a personal preference and not something I will really hold against the fan (just thought it might be worth mentioning).

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a great fan. I am very happy with its cooling ability, as it is equal to the best I own. It is the nicest-looking fan I own now, and is replacing my other one due to the nicer look. However, to me, the improved look over my old fan is not enough to justify the cost difference (about 40%). At the time of this writing, this fan is $21.99, if it drops in price a bit, then I would highly recommend it. If you really care about the way your fans look, then I also highly recommend this. However, if you are just concerned about the cooling performance of a fan, there are equal and cheaper options out there. Overall, this is great product, but its leading points over what I already own are not what I care about in a product.
