1 out of 5 eggsClicking noise

Pros: Looked promising on the box

Cons: I bought 12 of these fans to replace all my case fans and 6 fans for my radiator. I have a fan controller to control the speed of the fans and cannot run these below 12v without motor whine. These fans are not that quiet at 12v and need to be toned down slightly, but am unable to do it because the motor whine is just as loud as the fan on full blast.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Running Strong (update)

Pros: Very quiet, smooth, nice flow, nice construction

5 out of 5 eggsStill running

Pros: These fans are still running and are still extremely quiet after almost a year. I will be replacing some "existing" fans, that came with the case, shortly. The replacements with be Scythe.

Cons: I had to mount them on the outside of the case. My thermaltake Heatsink is huge!

Other Thoughts: You can review my components under SSD MACHINE in the public wishlists.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

Pros: Quite. Well made. Moves a lot of air.

Cons: None that I can think of so far.

Other Thoughts: The only real noise made by this fan is the air movement. If you are in a very quite room there is a fair amount of noise from the air but I have not heard any noise from the fan at all.

5 out of 5 eggsdecibels schmecibels

Pros: It's just a fan, so why get excited about it, right? Wrong! I had an old, cheap no-name case fan that put out impressive airflow, but was so loud that it made the cicadas outside seem silent.
I built a new system and decided to "splurge" on nice fans, and Wholly cow! I can actually hear other sounds again! <Newegg didn't think the proper spelling was appropriate???>
Seriously these are super quiet, and they out-perform my house fans (ounce for ounce, that is). They're black--very classy in an all-black case, and they feel very solid.

Cons: Wish it came with sleeved cables, but that's nothing.

Hey Scythe, could you make one of these in a 50mm size? yeah, it's not common, but the ASUS Sabretooth P67 has a hole in its armor with your name on it.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these on my Corsair H70 cooler, and I can't even hear them. I decided to get 2 more to replace the stock intake and exhaust fans on my case. Do it right and buy as many as you need all at once, since Newegg is currently offering a discount for purchasing multiples.

The moral of the story: don't sweat the cost of your fans. They're not even 20 bucks so go crazy!

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: pretty darn quiet...bought this after finding some reports on case fans. Used this to replace an old Thermaltake fan that came with my box. BIG improvement considering this is for an audio worksation

Cons: it's not silent

Other Thoughts: worth it imo

2 out of 5 eggsTremulous

Pros: high air flow

Cons: Way too noisy for me. There's a noticeable whine coming from the fan that reminded me of a hair dryer.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't stand the sound (although I am psychotic about fan silence). Currently sitting in my garage, being used as a fan-hole template

5 out of 5 eggsBig fan of this fan!

Pros: -Quiet
-Reliable
-Move decent amount of air

Cons: -None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: I have had three of these fans running in a Centurion 5 case for over 2 years now, and all three still function perfectly. Wide open they are as near silent as one could expect for a fan of this much flow. Might not be suitable for conditions requiring extremely silent running (music studio, ect.) but in that case you should be running fanless anyway. But for your everyday computer, these are the way to go. I have recently built a new machine and put these aside and replaced them with the 1900rpm versions and 4 Ultra Kaze model fans in a CM 690 case. Now moving nearly 750cfm through my case. Overkill really.

4 out of 5 eggsI can hear the motor assembly.

Pros: moves enough air, long life expectancy

Cons: the motor is NOT silent. I can hear it humming along over my 4 other fans + cpu cooler + video card + power supply. Not very loud, but the fact I can hear it at all is very annoying when my goal was to build a whisper quiet workstation for the bedroom.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I got a bum unit? not willing to spend another $20 to find out.

The only 120mm fans I haven't heard anything but wind noise from is Enermax.
