5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: I got this more than a year ago for my Apevia mid tower.

It fits nicely in the front bay slots and moves a lotta ir over the entire upper Mobo.

I did replace the fan it came with and got a a better cfm rated fan!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you get a good LED fan that moves a lotta air, it looks great and really helps cooling on a mid tower

3 out of 5 eggsREVIEW'D!

Pros: Fits in front of most mid-tower systems with 1 or more optical drives (requires 3 bays.)
Sturdy construction

Cons: The fan is total garbage, it won't move any air. It is still worth owning to replace the fan, but only because there are no others like it. It is an expensive passive grill with a fan mount. I didn't even keep the fan, and I keep a *lot* of things.

Other Thoughts: This sure does need a lot of screws.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks nice, does the job

Pros: Solid construction, looks nice, and fits well.

Cons: Comes with a slower fan. Is narrow by about a millimeter on each side.

Other Thoughts: I have a silver brushed aluminum case from Superflower (similar to some Lian-Li models) and was really worried that the Scythe mounting would look bad or out of place, but it looks very good. At first glance you may even think it came with the case. Only after closer inspection do you notice minor differences, like not having a brushed surface and if the color is a different shade, it's only off by a hair. I also picked up a 120MM 1600RPM Scythe fan and installed it immediately.

Prior to the installation, two 1TB Seagate drives in Logisys coolers (with 5.25 bay covers on) were 40-41c. After, the Seagate drive is 30c and the WD Black (second Seagate died) is 33c.

4 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: Based on reviews, i did not even try the fan. I replaced it immediately. Overall nice appearance, good build quality.

Cons: slightly narrower than the drive bays, although not that bad.

Other Thoughts: Works with Antec case with semi tool-less rails. You have to screw the rails to the drives and then they slide into place. They are not perfect. I can push too hard and it will go in too far.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Unit

Pros: The right unit for my machine. As others have noted the fan supplied is not the best. Ordered a Thermaltake 120mm to replace it. Simple replacement of fan, mounted it and Bam! plenty of air flow and the blue lights on the replacement fan really look good.

Cons: Weak fan supplied.

Other Thoughts: If you need more air flow and have the space up front, this is a good working solution.

3 out of 5 eggsnot that great

Pros: hold a 120mm fan better than tape

Cons: enclosure is slightly too small. it's plastic and looks stupid in a real aluminum case. the screen is completely worthless and causes any real fan to make a very annoying very loud noise unless at low speed. it's quiet with the stock fan but doesn't put out any usable airflow. I swapped it with a thermaltake and removed the screen and cross bars.

Other Thoughts: it's ok but I wish there were a better product out there

3 out of 5 eggsNot Scythe Quality

Pros: Wanted to add some incoming air to the top portion of my Armor Plus aluminum case. This matched the silver color almost perfectly and the perforations were pretty close. That's where the good stuff ended.

Cons: The fan must have been one that Scythe built that nobody bought so they figured out a way to get rid of them. It's awful. An ant can fa*t louder than this thing can blow. But I knew that going in based on reviews. So I replaced it with a Thermaltake 120mm. The mounting of this hardware left a lot to be desired. The holes did not line up well and force had to be used to get it attached. Again, not Scythe's typical quality. Once installed, I noticed that it is not the correct height or width and leaves noticeable gaps on all for sides. I hope this filter stays clean for long time because it is going to be a project to remove it for cleaning. It's simply not designed very well, but it works.

Other Thoughts: This is not a con, but check the fan you use to replace the Scythe fan. The Scythe is apparently thicker than the standard fan and when I fired it up the blades were hitting this spring loaded wire that holds the filter in place. I pulled it back out again, (groan), and cut 4 equal pieces of rubber tubing and used those for both a spacer and a vibration damper. It worked fine then. Also, this thing is so plain-jane it's ugly. Find a nice metal logo or something to break up the monotony of the boring face plate on this thing. I knew I should have bought Thermaltake's version, but I didn't want all the brackets for adding HDD. Make sure you can access both panels because both sides must have screws to hold this thing in. Tool-less rail clamps are useless. Overall, I'll keep it until I find something else I like. And don't forget to forget the fan. It's worthless. I doubt that the fan could blow out a match.

4 out of 5 eggsDrive Bay Fan

Pros: Fits well into 3 drive bays. Quiet fan.

Cons: Fan is quiet but does not pull much air. I do feel that it is possible to replace the 120MM fan with another type.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product, weak fan

Pros: Great idea. I LOVE that it is filtered. No dust in my machine! Supplied fan is silent, literally.

Cons: Fan is well nigh to useless, literally.

Other Thoughts: Buy a 10$ replacement fan, particularly a 38mm wide one, since you have to generate adequate suction to overcome the resistence that the filter provides...

5 out of 5 eggsvery good

Pros: Looks very good, does its job well.

Cons: Fan is alittle weak only 750RPM.
Price is $5.00 more then the black just due to color.

Other Thoughts: I would upgrade the fan to a 1400-2000 RPM one.
