5 out of 5 eggsAmendment -- Great Kit for Converting LGA 775 Pushpin Mount

Pros: This is an amendment to an earlier review I did three months ago.

This mounting kit is an excellent and worthwhile improvement to any LGA 775 heatsink that uses the push-pins.

Quality of the parts is first-rate.

Using this kit, the CoolerMaster Hyper L3 Heatsink/Fan is very snug against the CPU and does improve its heat removal capacity.

Cons: Could use clearer instructions

Not compatible with LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 heatsinks.

Installation requires removal of motherboard to install this kit (for some but not me).

Other Thoughts: This is a great modification to any LGA 775 heatsink that uses push pins. I can't stand the Push Pins.

After three months of usage, I realized this kit actually does improve the heat transfer capabilities of my CoolerMaster Hyper L3. Since the Hyper L3 has a PWM controlled fan, this is difficult to assess. But the fan does require less RPM before this kit was installed. I estimate there is about a 5C improvement in cooling capability.

I hope Scythe offers this kit for LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 heatsinks.

If Scythe offered this kit for LGA 1156 I would buy it. I believe this kit would solve the socket burnout problem for really high overclocks.

5 out of 5 eggsPush Pins suck

Pros: Replaces push pins on cooler.
Adds stability to board with heavy coolers.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: took a freezer pro 7 and replaced the push pins and got a 15 degree drop on my load temps.
Who the hell ever thought up push pins?

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: I was having trouble with my Intel 775 socket processor for ages. My computer would randomly turn off due to it getting too hot. The temp readings were up at 60+C or 140+F. HOT. I just installed it and the temps are down at 18C or about 64F!!! WOW! I'm amazed!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Also comes with a retention conversion for the socket 478!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Kit for Converting LGA 775 Pushpin Mount to Screw-in

Pros: Allowed me to convert a Coolermaster Heatsink with the Push-pins to a mounting system I can screw down my motherboard more securely. I can't stand the pushpins.

Kit has everything you need to convert selected Scythe heatsink fans from push pin to screwdown. I converted a Coolermaster Hyper L3 with its standard LGA 775 push-pin mounting system to screw-in mounting. The parts of this kit are of high quality -- nothing second rate here.

Cons: Printed instructions could use a little work but they adequately communicate the essential intentions of the mounting system. Before you start work, it is beneficial to READ the instructions and understand the intent of the kit. The pictures on the cartoon provide good examples.

Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with this kit.

I did not observe any decrease in temperature differentials between the push-pin and screw-on mounting with an E6600 operating 100% load with Prime95. Max temperatures were the same.

I purchased this kit because I can't stand the pushpin mounting of LGA 775 heatsinks.

I had no problem converting a Coolermaster Hyper L3 and reinstalling it on my motherboard. Removal of the push-pins is simple and substitution of the screw-in parts is straightforward. After installation, the heatsink is very snug on the motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: This product has a great build quality, you can tell it right out of the box. The solid metal back plate helps to reinforce the motherboard and distribute the weight. This is ten times better than the push pins on LGA-775 coolers

Cons: It was a pain to install, but took only about half an hour. I've heard reviews mentioning stripped screws, but this did not happen to me. The instructions were not that helpful, but the installation was not that hard to comprehend.

Other Thoughts: If you own a LGA-775 or 478 platform PC, buy this, you will not regret it!

5 out of 5 eggsTEN EGGS

Pros: Very easy to install.I would give this ten eggs if I could!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I put the plate on the MB and held it in place with tape, stuck the screws in and held them with tape, flip over MB and slip fat washers over screws, screw on nuts with flat sides and line them up with cooler holes, tighten screws, add grease to CPU and slip on cooler, screw on nuts and tighten each nut a lettle at a time in a cross pattern.DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE NUTS.This might not work for you if you have a big cooler.I have a Rosewill RCX-Z300 .Both sides of my case come off so I cut a hole in my MB tray in case I want to remove the cooler later without removeing my MB.
