Scythe offers high end features and performance at value prices. The MUGEN-2 SCMG-2000 has options found on many more expensive coolers. The four-sided high-density aluminum fins offers installation for 4 fans if you need, which will maximize its heat dissipation. It has 4 large exposed pure copper heatpipes at its nickel-plated copper base which has direct contact with the CPU for efficient thermal conduction.
Designed to attach easily to the motherboard of all Intel LGA1366, 775, Socket 478 and AMD Socket AM2, AM2+, 940, 939, and 754 CPUs, the MUGEN-2 SCMG-2000 is ready to go right out of the box. No tools are required, nor do you have to remove the motherboard The low noise cooler radiates a maximum of 26.5dB so it will be barely noticeable in your system. It is a great choice for overclockers!

Performs much better than you would think
- Pros: This Heatsink is a cooling beast that comes with a 120mm silent fan.
It fit just fine in my CM Centurion 5 Mid tower with an inch to spare from the side panel.
You can set this up any way you like with the assembly kit that allows for various arrangements.
Impressive cooling, allows my Core2Duo E8400 to reach 4.1Ghz and keeps my temps at 27*C idle, 48*C under load! I would probably be able to go higher but my RAM becomes unstable at higher speeds. 4.1 is good enough for me :)
- Cons: The heatsink is huge and the fins bend easily which I knew beforehand but the installation is not easy and causes you to grab it by the fins by accident. An extra hand would help tremendously but if you are by yourself, I suggest putting the heatsink upside down on your table or work area and the attach your appropriate socket clips. Apply thermal compound to the CPU and then bring the Motherboard to the heatsink. Place the backplate onto the Mobo and then line up the holes to the heatsink clips and put the screws in. So basically I had everything upside down becuase the screws go in through the bottom of the motherboard and the bottom of the heatink.
Plan ahead accordingly with the way you want the heatsink to be attached to the motherboard, otherwise it will take you a very long time to complete this installation when you have to keep applying thermal paste over and over because something doesn't go the way you wanted it to.
- Other Thoughts: I was going to buy it from newegg but instead I decided to go to my local computer store to pickup additional items as well.
The price is better at newegg but you have to wait a couple of days for shipping :P
Heads up!
- Pros: See below:
- Cons: See below:
- Other Thoughts: I have the EVGA X58 board, and sadly this cooler will not fit in due to the heatsink behind the IO ports. You could probably modify it to fit, but otherwise this thing is just too massive.
