- Pros: This thing works really well. The 120mm fan is more than adequate, there are 6 heat pipes and huge surface area of the fins. Dropped my temps 15 degrees C from the stock Intel heatsink!
- Cons: Difficult install. Had to remove the motherboard, take out the ram, move the power supply, etc. This is because this cooler is ridiculously large. It just barely fit in my case, but it should fit in most mid-tower cases.
- Other Thoughts: Absolutely insane. There are probably some more sane options out there that'll perform almost as well.

- Pros: i have an AMD phenom II X2 550 callisto BE 3.1 GHz cpu. idled at around 34C in my cheiftech bravo ATX full case and stock cooling. OC'd to 3.55 GHz i would get up to 49C, which isnt that bad... but i got this, thinking i could take it to a 3.8 GHz OC. well, i just got done with a 1 hour session of L4D bloodharvest map, at a 3.855 GHz overclock, and i'm now idle at 33C, with the overclock... perfect heatsink, didnt get over 37 while playing.
- Cons: umm... minor con, they didnt make grooves in the baseplate to get more contact from the heatpipes. does well enough without them imo
- Other Thoughts: oddly enough, not overclocked my idle temp didnt change by more than 1C between the stock and this sink. but the difference in load temps is staggering. i was hot and bothered for more than 5 hours today because of it. 3.8 OC never saw higher than 41 in any game . any, i have a lot. when before i would get up to but not beyond 59C. when i got the cheiftech case, it dropped 10C off the load temp to 49, this scythe dropped at least 8C but no more than 15 off of that. for the price, it's unbeatable, make sure you're case meets size requirements, as you should with any build
Fixed it all!
- Pros: Smaller than most high-end coolers (130mm tall vs. 140-150mm), but cools just as well. Because of the smaller size, it fits in the mid-size cases (like my ARK GL-09A). I run an Overclocked Phenom 9950 BE (at 3.0GHz, soon to be 3.2). It hit 70 C at high load (benchmarking/high-end games) and would hang with the stock cooler, now it hits 45 at load. I ran GRiD (an instant killer before) for 5 hours today, no hang.
The craftsmanship is amazing for the price as well. The contact plate is a mirror. That smooth. The thermal grease spreads very well.
Also, the fan is incredibly quiet while cooling very well. It's quieter at full than the old was at 82%.
- Cons: The heat pipes aren't soldered to the base, but thermal glued. There's a higher chance that they'll fail as a result, but so far, no problem.
For AM2+ installation, the clips are abominably hard to attach, but it's doable.
- Other Thoughts: It's a great, well-priced, effective, small high performance cooler. There's a couple downsides, but none that should turn you away.
