4 out of 5 eggsRegarding previous "Mounting Needs Help"

Pros: Great heatsink - get it!

Cons: Not as quiet as I had assumed, but cooled extremely well compared to stock heatsink.

Other Thoughts: Previous comment titles "Mounting Needs Help" said that he inserts the pins in the holes, turns the legs to lock them in place, and it falls off.

YES, it WOULD if you were DOING IT THIS WRONG WAY.

You turn the legs to REMOVE the heatsink, NOT secure it!!

3 out of 5 eggsnot as good as expected

Pros: It did drop the temp 5-10 deg at idle.

Cons: Loud fan, especially when turned up. Recently has gotten louder as if bearing is beginning to fail (especially at startup). I expected a larger drop in temp from stock fan/hs.

Other Thoughts: I recently replaced a stock fan with a Gigabyte G-Power Pro on my dad's machine. It dropped the temp 20-25 deg at idle. I plan to replace the AC Freezer7 with one of those.

    Pros: Good customer reviews.

Cons: Product was DOA. Fan was out of balance and noisier than the fan it was replacing. Appears to be a solid product, but was DOA.

    4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fairly quiet, fairly effective. Not very expensive. Fan directs hot air off of heatsink directly into rear case fan (if you have one)

Cons: Can get pretty loud at full speed (though not as loud as, say, a 120mm). Not as effective as some heatsinks.

Other Thoughts: Overall, not a bad heatsink. I use it with a P4 3.2GHz overclocked to 3.52GHz, and cpu runs about 37-39C idle and 49-52C under load. A little hot for my tastes, but I'm picky. Still don't get the "sone" sound measurement, but I'd estimate it at about 35Db at full speed (don't quote me). I'd still recommend it if you have an OEM P4.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler for Dual Core

Pros: This cooler is cheap and effective. The stock cooler with 830 dual core sucks big time. The idle temp with the stock cooling in BIOS, while the side was open, during the winter with no heater on was at 55c. I can feel the heat from the heatsink but the fan just wasn't moving enough air. With this cooler, the temp went down 12C and it was quiet with Asus Q-Fan on. And despite the size, this cooler weighs less than the stock!

Cons: Might be little too big for some cases.

Other Thoughts: Get this one if you own boxed dual core CPU. The stock cooling sucks big time.

2 out of 5 eggsMounting Needs Work

Comments: This cooler never worked for me, I have some issues with the s775 mounting system, at least when used without a backing plate: insert plastic plugs into holes, turn screw to "lock" it in place... great, except everytime I picked up my pc one would pop out, reinsert, another would pop out. Not a good thing for a pc that is going to be moved a lot.

This cooler is fairly top heavy (and it is actually one of the lighter ones available for s775), it should come with some sort of back plate mounting... I may have just gotten a bad one or something. Incidentally, I accidentally ordered a s754 one previously, guess what it comes with: a mounting plate and its virtually the same design from the same company.

The fan is very quiet, if they could get a better mounting on it, I would imagine that it would work fairly well. I just don't like the idea of having to check my cpu hs&f everytime I move my pc, and since this is a lan pc, that was going to be quite frequently. Hopefully they fix the design.

Comments: This heat sink does no better job than the stock Intel heat sink fan combination...don't buy! The fan is loud also!
