5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Rating: 7/7/2012

Pros: Since I got the brackets readjusted to 1155, its doing much, much better. Idling on 34*C, and load at 59*C on a 3570k (3.8 OC).

Very powerful piece of machinery, and out performs a Corsair H100 Closed-Loop (lower temps) by about 5*C idle, and 10*C load.

Cons: None since I went to a local computer shop and got the brackets fixed!

Other Thoughts: Really glad to see this IB CPU running at a lower load/idle speed. Scythe's got a good product, but does need a bit of tweaking on the brackets for the 1155 sockets.

1 out of 5 eggs"Samurai ZZ Cooler/Heatsink"

Pros: Looked pretty nice when it came in from Newegg, but a problem stands.

Cons: The item that I received stated that it was compatible only with the following: Socket 478, 775, 1156, 1366 (Intel). I used this with a Z77 1155 Gigabyte Board, and it would not fit properly whatsoever.

Also came with busted input pins... thought I should put that out there.

Newegg needs to update their stock on these "1155 Socket friendly Scythe SCSMZ-2000s", or refresh the information on the heatsink, and not falsely advertise this product as a "1155 Socket heatsink.

Other Thoughts: Requesting an RMA this next Monday... Now I'm stuck to either buying a heatsink from a brick and mortar store... or diving into watercooling.

Would not recommend this to a 1155 Socketed Board user whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsdo not discontinue this model..!

Pros: 92mm fan is compact but very potent
can mount facing any direction needed to assure clearance
replaced and aftermarket air cooler with this one and temps dropped -5C
installation, scythe has possibly the easiest on the planet
does fit LGA 1155 if you need confirmation
second scythe cooler I own, very satisfied

Cons: hard to find now, had to grab mine on-line.

Other Thoughts: Intel Core i5-2500K @ (4.1GHz) Sandy Bridge
GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
Scythe SCSMZ-2000 92mm Samurai ZZ
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good Fan

Pros: I really like this fan I have owned it for a while I just now got around to writing a review, its way quieter than the stock fan that I was using from my amd phenom x6 and the difference in the two fans were clear, I run an overclocked processor and when I installed this new fan I got almost 20 degrees Celsius cooler so it definitely does its job.

Cons: There is really no cons that I can see accept that the instructions were in japanese or some other language and had no english on back or anywhere else, and the fact that it came with different attachments were originally kinda confusing but I just looked at the picture on the box and I was able to figure it out, so not that big of a deal.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, not great

Pros: Easy install on AMD Socket, Low Profile, Quiet. It works. I haven't seen my CPU temps (Phenom II 955 BE) over 43 degrees. I am not using my computer for heavy gaming, but I do have multiple 'large footprint' applications (GIS, AutoCAD) open and running simultaneously. Definitely an improvement over the cooler that shipped with the processor.

Cons: From what I understand, there is no more manufacturers warranty for this product. I saw that listed next to the product while RMAing a doa hard drive from the same order. So beyond the return period, you're on your own.

Other Thoughts: That's a big one for me. This fan is in my first build, which I undertook in part so that I no longer had to deal with the insane return/warranty policies of any specific company. Not having any kind of coverage on such an important component is a deal breaker for me. Had I known in advance, I wouldn't have purchased this. That said, I haven't had an issue yet, so this is kind of moot. I am actively looking for a replacement though.

5 out of 5 eggspretty good for the price

Pros: Low profile, easy to attach to cpu, fan is quiet, keeps my cpu (amd phenom 2 x4) anywhere from 35 c while idle to 45 c while under load granted I do have a 140mm fan right next to the heat sink.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGreat performance

Pros: - great cooling
- easy to install

Cons: - manual is obscure
- GENERIC THERMAL PASTE WAS MISSING from the box so had to order an arctic silver set and wait a few more days to install; minus 1 egg for that
- fitting is tight in my SUGO SG07 but i knew that would be the case

Other Thoughts: I5-2500k unlocked at 4.0Ghz runs at 45deg C in a tight mini-ATX case (though with a 120mm fans blowing top down)
Great improvement over the intel stock cooler

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Cooler

Pros: Great sized HSF means that it won't take up too much room in your case, and won't get in the way of anything near the processor. Keeps my Phenom II X4 955 cool, overclocked to 3.8GHz, and no problems with heat at all. Copper is nicely sized and doesn't feel cheap.

Cons: None that I can think of for the price point, really.

3 out of 5 eggsNo good for me

Pros: Six copper heatpipes. Very smooth HS contact surface. Blows air over other components to boot. Almost a universal mounting system. Straightforward installation.

Cons: Be mindful that this heatsink may not fit in every / any orientation. The aluminum fins will not clear lower profile RAM sticks and will block the first and even second slot in some motherboards. Make sure you have room.

The mounting system uses push-pins. You'll need to order another part or do some modding to make it work on a motherboard that wants screws like mine). Because of how it was set up, the heatsink would not fit. I say again, it does NOT come with a screw mounting setup.

Other Thoughts: Bit of a bummer, TBH.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Bargain

Pros: Seems to work well, installation was easy, form factor is pretty small and I think will fit in just about any case and clear the capacitors and heat sinks in most motherboards. I bought this to replace a heat sink on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard and the fit was perfect. Even blows air directly down into the North-bridge heat sink as an added bonus. Comes with thermal paste (albeit the cheaper variety in a small packet reminiscent of a ketchup packet).

Cons: Lost an egg with me because I had to buy an additional part to make it fit with my CPU (AMD FX-55). It did not come with the plastic mounting bracket that screws to the motherboard that the heat sink attaches to. This piece was broken and was the whole reason I decided to buy a replacement heat sink so it was a bummer when I had to order it and wait another 3 days to install.

Other Thoughts: No fancy bells and whistles but it gets the job done.
